  • another way, with inner and outer leg seams sewn, place one pant leg inside the other, right sides facing, line up waist, crotch and bottom legs so it's all even, sew crotch, take leg out (the pants should be inside out) sew waist then hem, fill the waist casing with elastic and it's done.

  • @mysticgraystar: Trimming the seam makes sure that the edges are perfectly aligned so that when you do your zigzag stitch it will catch both thicknesses with no problems. The entire seam allowances isn't really needed once the seam has been sewn with few exceptions.

  • WHY must you cut off the 1/4" seam allowance before you zig zag? Why can't you use the 5/8" (or 1/2") seam?
