  • Billy (Holiday), Ella (Fitzgerald) and Sarah (Vaughan) rule the jazz roost full stop. Anita O'Day comes forth.

  • I think the 10 blind people got so excited hearing this and pressed the wrong button.

  • fantastic.

  • My very favorite big band singers.

  • Wow!!!!

  • amazing voice and lovely lips

  • Here was an artist whose voice was an instrument in itself. Miss Sarah was a first class artist on each and every song. Whenever she came to town, you could find me in the audience for each and every performance. I miss you, darlin!

  • Forgot to say-wonderful musicians backing her.

  • Astounding performance! Gotta say it-Sarah,s voice & talent leaves all the others in her dust-including Ella.

  • stunning microphone

  • Listen to Dinah Washington's version, she blew me away. Sarah sounds absolutely great, but Dinah is... Something else.

Is there a recorded version by Ella Fitzgerald?...

  • Wow…

  • Johnny Mathis version of this I think is very, very, very . good. Thanks for reminding me.

  • Billie, Ella and Sarah you ca't get any better than those three. I wouldn't dare try to say which one is the best. Thank you ladies for making this world a better place to enjoy musuc.

  • There has to be a LOVE button for Sarah! And THIS performance especially in UNREAL! As someone else said, this proves there is a God,...indeed,...what a gift from heaven music is (can be) and Sarah certainly is!! ;) Darling, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss, me,...Sarah, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing to me/us!! Thank God for recordings!!! Ahh,....

  • Along with Ella probably one of the finest singers ever.

  • 5 dislikes....are you serious?

  • Her name is Tichina Arnold-from the tv show. I think she shd portray SarahV in a biopic! Her name's bn put out there:-)

  • she looks like rachel, the motherin the tv-show : everybody hates chris

  • what a delight!!!

  • when she hits the high notes it brings a tear too my eyes - gets me every time - dam it

  • sorry I got to leave you all for now ......Good Night I hope you all enjoyed the music

  • Grandes DIVAS, es lamentable la muerte de una seguidora de este género "Amy Winehouse" cada una en sus estilos y las respeto.

  • This is so brilliant, that voice speaks to my soul.

  • LOVE!!!!!!!!!

  • Sarah Vaughan was unique. All her interpretations differ from eachother. Her musicianship is what elevates her performances. My favourite period of her work is the 50's, but she was brilliant to the very end. A genius in the truest sense of the word, with one of the greatest vocal instruments of alltime. Her voice never deteriorated even as she got older. She reigned supreme for five decades at the top of Jazz.. So many classics, even her last album 'Brazilian Romance' is a masterpiece.

  • @bolder2009

    i got it,her soul.

    thank you.

    all gentleman and ladies.

  • @markmarktarmann Sarah Vaughan was a simply fantastic singer. Holding notes long are not only part of gospel music. It is part of jazz, as well. It should surprise noone that black jazz musicians hold their notes long. WE love it!! Some can't appreciate it but that's life!! Sarah gets a 10 in my book and I'm sure most who love jazz will think the same.

  • @stinki15 She's slowing it down for the bluesy jazzy effect. If you don't understand that then her genre isn't for you.

  • @stinki15 What are you doing here Stinky? Don't you have to score some MTV tickets or something?

  • @shjakes no i don't. i'm just saying that i personally like the julie london version more and i was shocked about THIS version. thats all. I'm just using my freedom of opinion ^^

  • @stinki15 Please score this comment down so it can get voted out, I DID!

  • Somebody had a version of WHAT NOW MY LOVE...from this concert.....Does anyone know where it is? personally I miss it a lot...I used to listen to it EVERYDAY....it was really inspiring....

  • don't get me wrong, she's amazing.. but she killed the song.

Please hear it from Julie London and leave your feedback ;)

  • @modo203 Here's my take. I like Julie London. She's an underrated singer with limited ranger who did some nice, understated work that compares favorably with other respected and similar vocal talents of her era including June Christy, Peggy Lee, Jo Stafford and Chet Baker. Sarah is on another plateau entirely, Her timing, vibrato, range, depth of expression all place her among the greatest singers in the entire history of recorded music.. No contest.

  • @ajack2boys My thoughts exactly. Sarah is on another plateau entirely from everyone else. The evidence can be found with all those who attempt her style and sound and simply can't compare. Sarah is a world treasure.

  • @ajack2boys listen to sarah live at the tivoli gardens singing like an angel, especially my favourite song "Misty"

    It's AMAZING

  • @ajack2boys Everytime i hear her i get really excited and so emotional what a genuine talent!!!!!

  • @ajack2boys Totally agree!!!

  • @ajack2boys So true! June Christy, Peggy Lee, Jo Stafford and Chet Baker and Julie London were great in the limited range category. Ella and Sarah are on another level entirely. The greatest jazz singer is certainly Ella Fitzgerald followed by Sarah Vaughan then Billy Holiday and Anita O'day.

  • @rankingtrevor ...opinions...

  • @buffalmacco76 verging on fact

  • @modo203 Julie London who??? ahahah

  • SHE MAKE ME CRY

  • so good!

  • She is amazing. A deep jazz vocal and at the same time a clean operatic voice.

  • Il y a des anges n'en doutons pas,

  • I loooooove heeeer !!!!!!

  • The One and Only. The divine Angel!!! In other words the best!

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, somthing

  • Love this!

  • Flawless! Absolutely flawless! There will never be another "Sassy" and no one will ever sing this song as well as Ms. Vaughan did in this video!! Perfect!

  • LIMEADE04... I liked your words...but your heart is in right time!!! We love Sara heute...she has not time: she is eternal!!!

  • im 23 years old & love sarah vaughn. i have this passion / love that runs deep for jazz music. i ask people around my age if about artist like sarah & they're like who? they are missing out on some really great music.

  • Comment removed

  • @buffalmacco76 maybe so, but does that make them want to explore the genre in more depth? i would hope so. one song like this has lead me to many great talented artist & i love that about youtube / internet & my grand parents because of their record collections.

  • This is a religous experience.

  • A mais bela voz do Jazz!

  • Words alone can not completely express how this music moves my inter-being.

  • Sarah Vaughan wooooooooooooooooooooooow !

j'en ai écouté des versions c'est pas ce qui manque mais la on entre dans une autre dimension avec Sarah Vaughan .

    C'est tout simplement exceptionnel.

    C'est divin !

Pour moi c'est the version meme si il y en a 1 milliard .

  • a jewel

  • Absolutely breathtaking! There will never be another one like her.

  • :)))

  • There is only one...SARAH VAUGHAN...forever

  • great song--her voice is so beautiful

  • beautiful

  • OMG, I always liked this song, but never paid much attention (at any version), until I heard THIS ONE!

She gets the song a dozen levels higher, revealing dimentions that other singers couldn't even imagine there were existed!

She was a true ARTIST, not just interpreting a song, but making it REBORN, REVEALED and FLOURISH!

    R.I.P.

  • @jimmyj1969 Fully agree with you, the same happed to me I did not know Fly me to the moon was one of the best love songs ever 'til I heard Sarah's version, her musical vocabulary and voice textures have never been achieve or heard by any other artist.

  • It baffles me how Sarah, Dionne, Roberta Flack smoked but it didn't seem to alter their signature sound. But smoking absolutely trashed Aretha's voice. The divine one is forever divine!

  • Aretha voice is not trashed, it not what it once was but it isn't trashed. Smoking alter all of their voices, your problem with Aretha might be her falesetto which is understandable.

  • @elsinorejoe Miss Bassey , Is very fond of the old cigarettes, she is now in her 74 year and it would seem that her voice is almost as strong as ever! Perhaps the ciggs are part of the signature sound!

  • It doesn't get much better than this! PERFECTION!

  • Can you imagine the people in the audience listening to her? Some of them prolly passed out because they didn't realize they were holding their breath throughout her song. The ending of this performance is just amazingly excruciatingly beautiful. Sarah had the chops and the vocal ability to do so much acrobatic feats with her voice. She luxuriated in it and the audience were rewarded with a stunning performance. Man I wish I were in that audience.

  • If I'd met Sarah she would still be alive today! I would have forced her to stop smoking. she left us far too soon. She may have been mad at me and may have set the dogs out on me, but she'd be alive today. That heavenly voice left us far too soon and I'm still not over it! But thank goodness we can hear recordings of her. I adore Sarah. I wish I'd met her.

  • gracias sarahh...me quede imprecionada con el sonido que podes lograr

  • se me paran los pelitos de toda la piel...

    The divine Sarah!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!! that's all I can say!

  • I really enjoyed her voice. So soft and soulful timbre

  • but don't forget the rhythm section and especially the piano player. they are just perfect.

  • Oh, yes! It's perfect!

  • Simply magnifique.

  • The greatest singer in the world. The divine Sarah.

  • getting chills so good BRAVO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sarah was one of those singers whose voice grew greater over the years...first experience her in 71 and till the end, nobody could sing quite as magnificent as this great legend...Bravo Sarah!!!

  • Born to sing this was a lady in a class by herself, just pure magic in her voice. Thanks for the posting I miss this kind of music and vocals, the now generation don't have a clue.

  • OMG! We gotta bring this sound back! The MuSik today is so garbage!

  • HAH good luck with that one.

  • @Dileonte I tell my friends the SAME thing EVERYDAY!!
