Rapists of ALL kind are the lowest form of human beings. I dont even want to refer to them as people, they are scum. They should do life in prison even if it is their first offense. Many rapists will rape again and I think if they are being charged again with it, they should get the death penalty. We need to protect women, men and children from these evil creatures. I cant believe how he says "rape, wheres the rape?" outloud in front of everyone. Why are they prefering to her and her case as "the rape" Making her do things shes not comftorable with like having a male in the room, and taking photos like shes doing a photoshoot?!? They probably think they can get away with it like teen-agers here get away with stabbings. This is a brave movie for it's time and it was aTV movie! Shocking now as it was then.

Elizabeth Montgomery said they wanted to cut the 2nd rape scene because at the last minute they felt it was too graphic. She had threatened to walk from the film unless they changed they're minds to keep it in, and they did. And they saw why it was so important to do so.

It showed how doctors routinely referred to their patients as "the kidney in 102" or "the throat cancer in 250." Once Hurt became a patient himself he started to train his med students to refer to patients by name, not by their condition.

In another rape case in Melbourne, Australia, where the offender actually pled Guilty to a rape, the Judge decided that the offender should serve no jail time because he had saved the Tax payer a lot of money by not having a full defended hearing. In the Judges summing up, the Judge not only wished the offender "Good Luck" but also wished him a "Happy Life". There was NO public outcry as a result of these comments or the lack of a sentance handed down. This case was within 5 years.

There was a rape in Geelong Australia, where the victim was savagely beaten as well. The rape was witnessed by serveral passers by and they decided to do nothing because they assumed that it was "just a Domestic" and the young girls screams for help were simply ignored. This rape was approx 18 months ago. The public still consider "females" as belonging to a "man" and do not consider that they are individuals in their own right. The lack of action by these "male and female" witnesses shows this

It was thanks to movies like this that enough activists got together and helped changed the laws. Even in the late 70s it was still admissable in court to question a rape victim's sexual past, and ask such questions as "Were you wearing a bra when you were attacked? How short was your skirt?" It wasn't until the 1980s that it was routine to have counselors available in the hospital for rape victims, etc.
