  • he kinda sounds like he just got kicked in the male jewels....HIGH KEY

  • Dude the message of this is straight up easy: a girl has a hard time trusting men because they always end up hurting her. Hence the reason she's so hesitant to take his hand the first three times. When she finally decides to go against her instincts and trust him, he betrays her and puts her "right back to the start".

  • his name is guido

  • Noooooooooooo Don't "run right back to the start"! That guys evil!!!!!!

    XD

    Love this song!

  • I know this is an older song. It's..... just... so absolutely heart-squeezing beautiful. ^^;

  • @StudleyMufinGurl You're thinking into it too hard. This is true passion.

  • I think it is talking about a girl who has low self esteem who tries to get up and do things with her life but she is so hesitant she keeps falling back down, and she is scared to fall in love, and the guy knows it but he keeps trying to reach her, and when she finally gets the courage to go for him it's too late and it sends her right back to the start.

  • this is honestly one of the most amazing songs i've ever heard.

    copeland <3

  • actually im pretty sure the song has to do with what the relationship is like with a former lover...

  • imy

  • This is the best song ever!!!

  • For those people who don't get this song, this song represents two things through a chilling metaphor. This story is called the "Grey man" for one reason: death. The girl in this, is obviously thrown back into the pool where she last was found in the beginning of the video, therefore, representing that she goes back to the Grey man all the time. It represents how we sometimes go back to the one we seem to love...represented as the inevitable fate of death.

  • "The Grey Man aka Fear Liath More is a mythological creature that supposedly lives at the summit of a mountain in Scotland called Ben Macdui. It either follows people and creeps them out, or it has a psychological effect on people giving them overwhelming feelings of panic forcing them to retreat "back to the start" hence the title. so then song is about starting over and? when you finally get there, having to retreat from fear."

    As quoted by Betzdeco

  • @Outadate88 Haha, I feel stupid. Thanks for that, I guess I just like to think of it as a more of a gorgeous metaphor rather than a myth

  • @MusicDefinesAll The way I think of it is this, the empty pool in the begin represents an area where you can be safe and away from harm. When she leaves the pool, the Grey man pushes her back into the safe zone. "Back into her arms". So you try to leave love, the fear is overwhelming and your pushed back to where you started from. Where there is love, there's no fear.

  • @Outadate88 Ahh. Clever. (:

  • @Outadate88 You got this wrong man. The girl died in the pool, she commited suicide. The whole lyrics don't have to match perfectly with the video. The video is obviously a concept idea based upon the phrase "You've gotta run right back to the start", to look back at what you've done.

  • @alexmc82 It's just an interpretation. You cant be wrong. But I don't think suicide is the case. "Run right back to her arms" would mean your running to someone else. So she wouldn't be running to herself. And I disagree a little bit. Everything that a director/artist does has a purpose. But we're all entitled to our own opinions and interpretations.

  • @Outadate88 You're right in the sense that no one can be wrong because everyone has its own interpretation of an art. Unless the artist explicitely tells us what it means of course ;)

But my point is that a lot of artists make videos that are unrelated to the lyrics. In this case, I think they chose this song because it was the most catchy of the album and they had one concept idea for the video realisation. It fits the lyrics, just not perfectly.

I could be wrong though ;)

  • @alexmc82 I think it matches it quite well my other comment explains what I think about it. You might appreciate it.

  • I get chills when the piano comes in...

Definately my favorite song by Copeland.

  • Very good song!

  • wow the videos really sad :/

  • probably one of the most depressing videos I have ever seen.

  • Love this song.....

  • this band is not religious...

  • This is amazing<3

  • what music genre are htey?

  • @superashley13

wow, stfu, does it matter in any way whatsoever?

fuck all the fucking dumb asses ALWAYS bitching about the fucking genres. FUCK YOU ALL

  • @ian1022 lol at first I was going to say the language is not need since this was a Christian band, but then I found out they're not really considered religious even through they are through a Christian record company! So I decide to say whatever about it haha and also good song! As for the genre, for those who care it's indie!!! but I really don't think it matters as long as you like the music which I think is what Ian1022 was trying to get at!!!

  • @WorldOfNothin

    quoted for truth

  • @ian1022 LOL "Fuck you" is TOTALLY not a bitch move. FUCK OFF dick shit it obviously matters to her. Jesus FUCKING christ dude. There is nothing wrong with indentfying genres and sticking with them.

  • @MusicDefinesAll

    why you mad though?

  • @superashley13 I like to think of them as indie

  • since when have music videos been known for there logic?

  • @ultimatepunchrod Since forever,

  • Yeah, I think it kind of does go with the lyrics of the song. Except for the song says her instead of him. Im going to go with newpoink and say that its a metaphor for, maybe not a relationship, but trust. Probably a relationship, because they're all guys. I think its all the same guy. But she got hurt, and therefore doesn't trust, and when she finally does, ("When you finally think its gone") she's hurt again. ("You're gonna run right back to the start")

  • dumb video.

  • i dont get it either. I know that the grey man was a name used for Albert Fish, a cannabalistic child molesting serial killer caught in the 1930's, I think.

  • :/ I don't like it. Don't think it quite fits the song. But then again, I don't know what Aaron Marsh wrote the song about. When I first heard this song, and every time I hear it, I think he's talking about the difficulty of getting over someone and that even though you think you're finally over them and your love for them is gone, you end up right back where you started, right back in their arms. I think that would have made for a more fitting video, but that's just my opinion.

  • the vid is creepy

  • i love it

  • singers voice is amazing

  • what's the meaning of the video? btw this song is great(:

  • i live in copeland :)

  • is the band breaking up or just never going on tour again??? :(

  • @horseridinggrl54 They are officially playing their last show at The Social in Orlando as we speak. After tonight, it's over.

  • COPELAND KICKS ASS

  • Can anyone explain kind of what this is about?

I don't really understand it haha.

  • insert somthing serious and pointless

  • @kennykiller911 serious and pointless don't really go together

  • im going to their farewell tour in phx. next week. i will miss them dearly.

  • This clip is awesome

  • Rabbits.

  • Copeland

  • @Mat397 ??? *Band Name. was there any point? :l

  • Comment removed

  • this song gets meh sleepy. haha

  • this is the song i want to take drugs and lay down and listen too all day <3

  • meh drugs are bad.

  • it matters what you call drugs...... weed, no, heroin, yeah.

  • @HIMlvr789 people are 'bad'

  • @HIMlvr789 mmkay

  • @HIMlvr789 well... DUH?

  • *sucks.

    *don't.

    *I.

    *believe.

    *usually.

  • you don't listen to something because someone said members of your shitty deranged subculture listen to it, you poser faggot.

  • @LizzziMerjanen HIGH FIVE

  • @linkslasher wow i wanna rip your guts out, seems fun :D

  • emos usually like mcr and shit like that... bullshit music... scene kids listen to deathcore, metalheads listen to metal, and regular people listen to EVERYTHING, or anything they like... so.... don't be a prick.

  • @safetosaydontquoteme Steriotyping is a bitch.

    Stop it.

the more we label, the more fucked up and more regular the human race becomes.

  • you`re a scene kid yourself, so of course you`d say that.

  • But i think we can all agree that rap/hiphop/r&b are the real bullshit genres of "music" out there.

  • the human race is a hopeless and evil race anyways. stereotyping isnt right. We are all equal in the sights of our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can redeem us from our "f"ed up state. ps. be careful to stereo type me as what society sees a christian as.

  • I'm a metalhead and i like deathcore ( Carnifex, Whitechapel, the Acacia Strain). I like metal (Carcass, At the Gates, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse,). I like Post-Hardcore ( a day to remember, alexisonfire, the fall of troy). I also like indie (Copeland, MewithoutYou and La Dispute). I even like Black Metal (Emporer, Darkthrone, Dimmu Borgir and Vesania) Only a few bands from each genre I like. Hell my favorite band is Behemoth, you don't have to be labeled to like good music.

  • This album is so nostalgic for me. Can't wait to catch them on the final tour.

  • check out Vedrea.. kind of reminds me of Copeland.

  • coffin full of beard ( bara piena di barba )

  • Wow i never notice how depressing this song was until now.

  • wow...that video and the song together really just hit me....it's cool what you find that really has a deep, somewhat painful meaning to you when all you were doing was looking for something random to listen to.

thanks, Copeland. you guys rock =)

  • exactly

  • DIrty Stayout!

  • i love this song! next to strange and unprepared this one is my fav

  • I Feel Stupid... I Don't Get This...

  • I think it has to do with a woman who keeps going back to the same man who keeps treating her like crap. Every time she tries to get away she ends up going back to him, a viscious cycle.

  • couldn't of said it better.

  • @bigboo71289

Yeah dude, that's the only interpretation that makes sense. That's exactly what I was thinking

  • I always thought it was about a druggie. Maybe you can see that if you watch intentively

  • @StudleyMuffinGurl just a guess, but im sure that its a metaphor for how she just got out of a rough relation ship and only sees the bad part of the people around her (protrayed by the guy) that she experienced from what she had been through... but thats just a guess... good song too bad they arn't together nemore

  • @StudleyMuffinGurl hey i am the guy thats in the video. . .

its about a girl who keeps going back to the same kinda guy. (she is my wife in real life though)

  • @StudleyMuffinGurl She is hurt, and he offers his aid, She refuses, again and again, and finally trusts him to help, and then he hurts her. Shameshame, she knew better. I would know better.

  • mine was coffee. after one play i got addicted. sad that they broke up though :(

  • confused on story line.

  • -Another Question- "Eat Sleep Repeat" Copeland's third album is considered a DARK album....why is that? do you feel the same?

  • If you read some of the lyrics such as "I feel safer on an airplane than a world without love" it's just how Aaron Marsh (the singer) describes how dark this world has come. And if you look at some of the other songs you can see how he juxtaposes some other dark ideas in the songs. Hope this helps a bit.

  • my last name... weird....

  • the first copeland song i ever heard was brightest and i fell in love with copeland rigth away

  • the same, it connected with my situation at the right time.

  • -A Question!- What was your first Copeland song to hear and when?

  • Pin your wings down.

  • yeah "Pin Your Wings Down" is definately a good tune. "Dont Slow Down" an acoustic version was the first song i ever heard.

  • another day in paradise. 2004. kinda late, especially for someone who lives in lakeland, but hey! even their covers are beautiful.

  • @TheLemonJellyEffect

Pin your wings was the first song I heard and I was like "whoa that song has my name in it!!!" so, I started listening to them and I have followed then ever since. They are definitely one of my top 5 fave bands. I just saw then last week in akron at their farewell tour, and it was very sad :(

  • how sad! =-(

  • Well that was depressing

  • It's too bad these guys never got the full respect they deserved! Such a good band!

  • i'm not sure Neffstradamus knows wat good music is, can someone help her out?

  • what a douchebag

  • NEFFSTRADAMUS, you ignorant prick. Perhaps people make music because they like it or it speaks through them; a way to release what might be bothering you. Not everyone makes music to be on MTV, to be successful, or to make a lot of money. Either way, your post is ridiculous. This band is amazing. You must live a sad and miserable life if you have the time to come post HATE on some random bands page.

  • yall postin in a troll comment

  • this song is so sentimental but love it

  • *CRYING* BEST BAND EVER 4ever!

  • its rly sad that their breaking up after the spring.

seems like all of the good bands are falling apart. D:

  • awesome band... so sad that they are breaking up

  • R.I.P. to a frickin awesome band

  • COPELAND IS BREAKING UP!!!

  • This is kind of depressing...

  • Also, he said that the title of the song is a reference to an episode of the Twilight Zone called the Grey Man, where there's this same man that follows this girl everywhere she goes. No matter how she tries to escape it, he's always there. It's a metaphor for the aforementioned theme about trying to leave someone, but you just can't seem to do it.

  • At a show a few months ago, Aaron gave a big intro to this song. he started out saying, "Has anyone been in a relationship that you wanted to get out of but couldn't because you put so much time and effort into it and you really wanted to stick it out to see if it would get better, even though you knew it wouldn't. And you knew you deserved better the whole time anyway, but didn't think you could get anything better? That's what this song is about." Lol.

  • I love this song, is great.

  • i think it's about a girl who's with somebody that pushes her down and makes her low but because she might have been with him for a long time it may be all she knows so she "runs right back to his arms" when she's free, and by doing so she's "run right back to the start" and he's doing it all over again to her.

Maybe i'm focosueing to much on the video, but that's what i get from the song itself.

    Love of um.

    <3

  • remember* :/

  • I think its about a girl who fell, woke up with amnesia (the blood from the back of her head hinted that to me) then went wandering around, confused, and the guy, i gues, that she once know thried to get her to remeber her.. thats a guess, correct me if im wrong.

  • get her to remeber him*

  • i love it. i love the song, and i love the video. Both are just absolutely beautiful.

  • If people I didn't know were trying to hold my hand in the street..... I would run away from them too.....

  • what is this song about?

  • a grey man

  • i ADORE this song.

It was on replay on my itunes for a week. xD

  • A melhor!

  • foda!!!

  • AMEI

  • muito massa essa banda.... a melhor de todas

  • lol that was a cool and weird video. but such a sweet sweet voice:)

  • I love this song!!!

  • woooow!! a like muchh!! this video!! iss veryy good!! really its the better!! ok!1 bye bye!

    dalu2ªª

    the gerald!! xdd! bye

  • This reminds me of another band

  • Hasnt anyone figured out what this song is about? haha. The Grey Man aka Fear Liath More is a mythological creature that supposedly lives at the summit of a mountain in Scotland called Ben Macdui. It either follows people and creeps them out, or it has a psychological effect on people giving them overwhelming feelings of panic forcing them to retreat "back to the start" hence the title. so then song is about starting over and when you finally get there, having to retreat from fear.

  • not "hence the title" i mean to say "hence the point of the song"

  • i dont get the relavince (sp) of the video to the song lol

  • Sweet song - sweet, but kind of scary, video. Awesome band.

  • aaron marsh is the sweetest man ever, if you e ver have the chance to meet him, do it

  • i love both the video and the song. they make you think about things.

  • yea it does...shes trying to escape something, be it a habit, person or what ever, but cant and ends up retrogressing back to those habits or going back to a person

  • Just because you dont get it doesnt mean that it doesnt make sense..it just means that youre a dumbass

    loved the video and song

  • I have this CD and love it, this is my favorite song. BUt one thing, is the singer a guy or a girl I can not figure it out

  • Aaron Marsh is the singer :] (dude)

  • the band is so underrated.

  • i know...with all the great music they make, ud think more people would have heard of them.

  • this song is beautiful. <3

  • It really saddens me that this beautiful video is tarnished by all these hateful comments. Let others be without judgments.

  • ...Categories desecrate the art form. It's either great art or it isn't. Followers of Jesus should have the first word instead of coming late to the game with some poor quality spin-off. Let's talk about things before everyone else.-Rob Bell

  • I don't believe in Christian art or music. The word Christian was originally a noun. A person, not an adjective. I believe in great art. If you are an artist, your job is to do great art and you don't need to tack on the word Christian. It's already great. God is the God of Creativity. ...

  • love this band and this song

  • WHO CARES IF THEY CALL THEMSELVES A CHRISTIAN BAND OR NOT?! The band doesn't take offense to it! Who says you have the right to take offense to it for them?! I'm so tired of people arguing about whether or not a band is a "Christian band" or not. Just enjoy the f***ing music!

  • She had it coming.

  • Sad. Your right! Why do we like this. We need to be happy. This world is lying in sadness, its so bad we like it. Thats sick! I dont think this is a God Band. They say i have to run back to my rain to be set free? into the arms of the evil women that gave birth to my sickness. And if i found my way, why would i run back to the start? What are theses dudes saying!!!!!!!!!!

  • i don't know if they're a Christian band but they are Christians, they have to be cuz they're signed with Tooth and Nail

  • not a christian band, not every band on t&n is a christian band. the agony scene was signed (or possibly by the sister label solidstate) and they are NOT a christian band.

though aaron marsh is a christian and his lyrics do contain alot of spiritual undertones the band as a whole is not a "christian" band. hope that helps

  • did i say that they were a Christian band? i said that they were Christians, not a Christian band, sorta like Anberlin in that regard.

  • no one HAS to be a Christian on t&n.

  • you're totally missing the point..

  • i agree with MsLennyBenny I'm a Copeland freak and they do NOT consider themselves a Christian band at all, but they had a lot of ties with people in T&N and they needed a label so since they ARE all christian, T&N let them sign. but thats beyond the point, this song, and band, are outstanding, so enjoy the music and as for Butafarie, shut up please.

  • so true! not a christian band...

  • I want her outfit. I can't believe she had to lie down in that nasty pool stuff...egh. Their songs are so sad...I like them, though. *_*

  • Oohhh my gosh.. i thought you said their songs were "so bad".... i was like... noooooo!!!!!!!!!! lol... cheers...

  • Hehe

  • IT`s Not Over My Family ( Gery Man)

  • was this filmed in washington DC?

  • @RachelMaves Yes, that is correct. The director is Andrew Bowser.
