Dude the message of this is straight up easy: a girl has a hard time trusting men because they always end up hurting her. Hence the reason she's so hesitant to take his hand the first three times. When she finally decides to go against her instincts and trust him, he betrays her and puts her "right back to the start".
I think it is talking about a girl who has low self esteem who tries to get up and do things with her life but she is so hesitant she keeps falling back down, and she is scared to fall in love, and the guy knows it but he keeps trying to reach her, and when she finally gets the courage to go for him it's too late and it sends her right back to the start.

When she leaves the pool, the Grey man pushes her back into the safe zone. "Back into her arms". So you try to leave love, the fear is overwhelming and your pushed back to where you started from. Not everyone makes music to be on MTV, to be successful, or to make a lot of money. Either way, your post is ridiculous. This band is amazing. Also, he said that the title of the song is a reference to an episode of the Twilight Zone called the Grey Man, where there's this same man that follows this girl everywhere she goes. No matter how she tries to escape it, he's always there. It's a metaphor for the aforementioned theme about trying to leave someone, but you just can't seem to do it.

At a show a few months ago, Aaron gave a big intro to this song. he started out saying, "Has anyone been in a relationship that you wanted to get out of but couldn't because you put so much time and effort into it and you really wanted to stick it out to see if it would get better, even though you knew it wouldn't. And you knew you deserved better the whole time anyway, but didn't think you could get anything better? That's what this song is about." Lol.

i think it's about a girl who's with somebody that pushes her down and makes her low but because she might have been with him for a long time it may be all she knows so she "runs right back to his arms" when she's free, and by doing so she's "run right back to the start" and he's doing it all over again to her.
Maybe i'm focosueing to much on the video, but that's what i get from the song itself.

I think its about a girl who fell, woke up with amnesia (the blood from the back of her head hinted that to me) then went wandering around, confused, and the guy, i gues, that she once know thried to get her to remeber her.. thats a guess, correct me if im wrong.

Hasnt anyone figured out what this song is about? haha. The Grey Man aka Fear Liath More is a mythological creature that supposedly lives at the summit of a mountain in Scotland called Ben Macdui. It either follows people and creeps them out, or it has a psychological effect on people giving them overwhelming feelings of panic forcing them to retreat "back to the start" hence the title. so then song is about starting over and when you finally get there, having to retreat from fear.

not a christian band, not every band on t&n is a christian band. the agony scene was signed (or possibly by the sister label solidstate) and they are NOT a christian band.
though aaron marsh is a christian and his lyrics do contain alot of spiritual undertones the band as a whole is not a "christian" band. hope that helps

i agree with MsLennyBenny I'm a Copeland freak and they do NOT consider themselves a Christian band at all, but they had a lot of ties with people in T&N and they needed a label so since they ARE all christian, T&N let them sign. but thats beyond the point, this song, and band, are outstanding, so enjoy the music and as for Butafarie, shut up please.
