not realy because war means like fighting something lol and peace means there is no fighting lol so if you went to another planet and asked who have you been at war with and they said no one and nothing you would think they are peacefull right :)
ok think of it this way imagine war never existed then someone asked you was why is it so peaceful we wouldn't have a answer because without peace does not have a definiton
yer but then again peace would also have many other definitions like if you were not arguing with n e one lol peace.....not fighting ..lol it doesnt need war to exist

Dear Dan You are fucktardidly retarted. your fucktardidly retarted if you really think the U.S. cares about people in the middle east. And you are fucktardidly retardedddd if you really think the U.S. doesnt know what the hell its doing in over there, we know exactly what we are doing, and the well being of those people is not even a priority. stop watching msnbc and read a damm book.
You're retarded, D13247. Because you think that we don't care about the people in the middle east. The sheer fact that I am in Iraq right now, and my mission is to "Train, Mentor and Advise the Iraqi Police" completely disproves any argument you could possibly have. We also have teams for their Border Patrol, Army, Special Forces, Government jobs, etc. Pretty much, we are here to IMPROVE the conditions of a lesser nation then our own. So I end this with: D13247, you are fucktardidly redarded.
You, on the otherhand, have a point. So we killed women and children. Whoopdee fucking doo. Did you not know that the terrorists have been using women and children as SUICIDE BOMBERS and that both these groups have been known to plant roadside bombs, shoot small arms fire (anything thats not explosive) and distract us? Its not murder when you're defending your own life, you imbecil. But I take it that you, a person who has not endured this war, wouldn't know about that.
We have not and do not intend to take any oil from Iraq. This has never been an objective of the War in Iraq. That was just something that conspiracy theorists made you, the unthinking, let me believe everything I hear person, believe.
guyz i don't have a problem with people across the world. It may sound strange coming from an american. Being american is not about starting war for fun. I hate war. Every day i always think about the russians and how at any time they can press the big pretty red button and every body on this continent is dead due to nuclear bombing. But i don't have problems with Muslims and Iraqis. There are good people and bad people. They are just pinned against their country to fight another country.
i also think that freedom is not free. we have to fight to get what we want out of somebody. in a perfect world, two battling forces would sit down and have a chat about their problems. unfortuately, not everybody is willing to do that. not every country plays fairly. so in order to resolve issues, war is necessary.
lol in a perfect world there wouldn't be 2 opposing forces. after trying to create a utopian world for english class i've come to the conclusion that a utopia is impossible.
I'm an American, you're not. you're perspective is wrong. we are not all a bunch of egotistacle d-bags, like the other world thinks, In fact I find that a lot of british people are jerks, doesn't mean i hate their country. So learn to change your perspective and stop being immature and judgmental
i think british people are 'jerks' too. thefluteplayer896 -> sums up the american imperialist mindset in one poorly written paragraph. "We have to fight to get what we want out of somebody."
You know, just because some U.S. citizens (I don't like the way people use American when they talk about the U.S., Mexicans are American, Brazilians are Americans) think and act wrong, it doesn't mean we all do. I know for a fact every nation in the world have some idiotic citizens who think dumb things like "We have to fight to get what we wawnt out of somebod."
You know, your right. I know everyone in the US isn't a gun toting redneck (especially the people on you-tube watching these kind of videos.) But the idea of what this guy talks about "nation building" and "containing threats", talking about "terrorism" wtf is that? People are getting rightfully pissed off when you invade or if you meddle in their countries affairs. Something that most americans think that the US has a right to do. That way of thinking in the US needs to change.
We invaded Iraq with the purpose of getting Saddam Hussein, which we succeeded in. Now we're rebuilding. Also, the MAJORITY(Meaning not all but most) of the Iraqi citizens WANT us here. I speak with cardinal knowledge because I do speak with Iraqi's on a frequent basis.
As a matter of fact I do. Do you have any reason to believe otherwise? If you throw in the "We went to Iraq for oil" theory, I'm going to call you retarded right now. If we were here to get oil, don't you think we'd have it? Especially since we took over the country in 18 days. The only reason we're still here (I'm in Iraq) is to rebuild. ALL of the combat forces (like infantry) have left Iraq.
I don't know any detaills, but I do know that Bush couldn't be trust by his word. And I also think that there is more to all theis than most people thinkknow
You don't know any of the details yet you act like you KNOW. Just take my word for it then. I know what I'm talking about, and I've personally witnessed it.
dude, if you mean that you where a soldier. then that doesn't mean you know what was the reason behind the scenes. I don't know taht either, but I do suspect that there was more to it then we, and the soldiers too, where told.
I don't act like I know anything, so don't be a macho-man, trying to diss me.
I was never a soldier, but am in the Armed Forces. But you're right, we don't know everything about the war. But we know a lot more then civilians do.
Leaking information. Really? What information have I leaked. Have I used any route names, bases, call signs, radio frequencies, dates or times? No, I haven't. I haven't leaked any information usuable by the enemy.
Well no, simply because the U.S went in completely underequipped.
They completely underestimated the potential for destabilization. It's patently obvious that with rising oil prices strangling the U.S that they needed better access to cheap oil.
The fact of the matter is, Iraq is no more or less stable than the day it was invaded, the only difference is people are now used to living in a goddamned warzone.
Look, I WORK in the oilfield, and I can tell you right now that you simply cannot run a successful operation in a warzone. It constitutes a logistical nightmare when you have to worry about transport lines being sabotaged, workers being killed, etc.
The fact of the matter is the U.S is STUCK in IRAQ, and employing your own logic against you, if the U.S could have quelled dissent in that country THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IT ALREADY.
They simply CANT. You can't nuke a country and drill/transport oil.
Um, well no the purpose was to find WMDs, which there were none. Then then Bushco simply railroaded the issue into "LOL SUDDAM IS BAYD!"
And the majority of the sheep went along with it.
This was the original plan for some time, they simply marketed it to north america as a "threat" when many prominent figures in the military, including maj General Anthony Zinni, who was in-part responsible for the containment operations in Iraq, said that containment was working, and was cheaper.
Of course the Iraqi people want the U.S there because the country would descend into outright CIVIL WAR, because the U.S and coalition utterly destabilized the country.
nah i dunno about that think about it hey..some will want some wont lol it all depends what is each persons involvement in poverty and etc.. for all we know they could hate americans because they fighting lol with that said even when the americans are finished unless its completely rebuilt and gets good currency and gets a good leader then its just gonna go straight back to hell
That was probably one of the most disjointed, incoherent responses I've come across.
That makes no fucking sense.
"for all we know they could hate americans because they fighting lol with that said even when the americans are finished unless its completely rebuilt and gets good currency "
im british, and i think that the men out in afgan and iraq, british and american are good a great job, yes its not good that its happening, but the U.S and british armys workin together is a perfect force. sure alot of you think we're smug, pompose, posh jerks, lol but thats just the complete oposite, we're very stronge minded about shit like you..
Let me brake it down to you fellows in a way that it becomes more understandable.
Wich guys get the most girls ? Those that despereatly try to get one or those who couldn't care less ? I think we all know that those who desperatly want a girl will never get one and so it is with peace, the more you want it, the more you will not be willing to do what is needed and you will find war at your doorstep. However those who are prepared to go to war should the need arrise usualy have less warproblems
I realy apreaciated your view to war, it's the first time I heard an amerikan speaking so much sence.
As Washington said, we have to be prepared to go to war at all times, inoder to prevent war. Sounds like a contradiction, but in the time before WWII it became evident, that an absolute wish for peace if in anyway possible, will get you the opposite results.
Ahh Dan many soldiers are dying in those blasted countries and they're not given a shit, Obama sits on his chair in the White House and a humble soldier is in the Hot Environment fearing if there will be a Bomb Car or an Ambush. We gotta stop this "WAR" and both sides must stop.
I know this vid is supposed to be a philosophical discussion about the abstract forum of war, but has anybody noted that nuclear weapons are mutually assured destruction...
According to me, we should never have wars. We all should just work together in order to maintain a peaceful and happy environment. But the thing is, politicans dont seem to really understand this ''peace'' concept and therefore just go out having wars with the governments of other countries. Dan, become the president of the U.S and just rule the world please? : D
its like that question "should everyone be considered equal". k its not really but i find it interesting because if everyone was completelly equal and noone exceled at anything... would we even progress? cause i dont think so. theres more obviously but it makes you think what is it that we are acctually striving for? because i dont htink it is possible for everone to be content with their way of life.
When everyone realizes that the earth's resources are the property of ALL people who inhabit the earth then there will be no war, no countries would attack another if all of said countries people have everything they need. And what is a country except a organization to keep their people safe? Countries would simply dissolve as people realize they don't need them anymore.
First off I am a soldier in the us army at this very minute sitting in the middle of Baghdad and will soon be on my way to Afghanistan and was recently on CNN. I agree for the most part on what you've stated, the problem i see is that we assume that most these countries have the capacity for change and that would be nice but unfortunately their ability to get past their differences and work together is severely lacking. we will see in the upcoming years what they are capable of when we leave.
the fact that the US had entered the country under false pretense, is i think the number one reason alot of people were turned off by the so called war on terrisom. its true that other nations problems could trickle to other countries however, forcing "help" is not conductive i think.
Iran's Ahmadinejad, is a Radical Muslim, who believes not only in the ushering in of the era of the 12th Imam, (Fundamentally thru an Apocalypse) but also that he is destined to be a tool of bringing it about. Thus Iran getting the bomb ENDS mutually assured destruction as a deterrent. He's on the fringe of the fringe here. He's \/owed to sacrifice half of Iran which is what would happen if he provoked a nuclear strike.
you have some good points in this and bad points in this video dude, as a squaddie's girlfriend,To soldiers it is "peace keeping", unfortunately it has to happen by violence. i do not agree with the wars of Iraq and Afgan, too many soldiers have died over the years beause they are doing what they think is right for with thier job.some soldiers only see it as a job.I think the USA and UK should leave Afgan and Iraq to it and protect thier own countries.but unfortunately it is not upto us.
I think you're super insightful, Dan. Although, there are some that don't agree with you here, the truth is every country must ensure the safety of it's people. if that means flushing out terrorists that present a potential threat to one's said country, then so be it. Seems like many who've commented against your video are only justifying their disagreement from the perspective of being inconvenienced by invading troops. It's time we regard human life as more valuable than our inconvenience.
Nation building has never worked. A nation has to build itself from with in. Whenever an external governments try to intervene it only make things worse, a lot like when they try to intervene in the economy. World peace cannot be achieved by military control, but by free trade.
And???... who decides what country is the invader??
So, you say that the usa can mess with others that simply?? go inside with troops, do what they want.... no matter the culture of the inhabitants? You clearly live in a box..
What would you say if Irak troops invade your country and force you to do what they think is best for the word?? Give me a break.... is easier to say when you are the one who INVADE..
hey buddy get ur facts straight . I beilive there was several planes that crashed into the world trade center and the pentagon that were taken over by terrorists from iraq. now i would think that iraq is invading the USA. it wouldnt have happened if they didn't "invade" are counrty. and for the USA to invade iraq is GREAT. and for the second part of your comment. Iraquie troops would never be man enough to even cross the border of the US. so pretty much ur points are fucked. TEHE
yes world peace would be nice and so would a utopia, but think what do you mean cant people drop everything and go home this is about conflicts yes but this is a war for putting food on the table along with that on both sides. also these comments about a perfect world and stuff will never happen as long as people are the way they are, some say they want world peace but never do it ,most have there own perspectives and tell people to fuck off, others dont care.
ahahaha you got your ideas wrong. wars are to make someone do something that they wont do by their own will. Imperialism lives. Because your goverment and your media shows and tells u something about war doesnt mean its true. Wars wont be directly anymore between big empires and nations. Wars will be fought in third countries where one side is supported by an imperial power and the other one by another. It happened, happens and will. The US is in Irak for oil. Get that into your head.
germany and japan a total failure? i think the way america went about invading/occupying japan was antiquated and ridiculous and terrible and would never work now adays, but shit, they're pretty tight allies with america now.
I think what Dan was trying to get across is that something like the surge would've worked had america had a clear & open goal from the start. in which case a surge might not have been necessary...
i wish i could talk with you in person...you're amazing! i wish the youth of america was more like you instead of the beer-ponging losers they are today...
i admit the majority of America's youth should have more hope for the future, but if everybody thinks the same way, then what would be the difference between us and robots?
I love Dan Brown here. My parents came here from Iraq to escape the death there. It's true that the family I still have there is thankful that America is now there, dont think they hate us becuase they media wants you to think it!
the problem with having a planet that has no breading grounds for threats is where they wont grow in one spot majorly but everywhere learning to avoid the laws set in place getting better and better causeing a constant struggle to get smarter then the other making danger random at all times you would need yearly-monthly news reports on which areas are most dangerous at that time
option A or B or a combination of the two, which benefits both sides, through peaceful methods and avoid the WANT FOR WAR entirely!! Through this perspective isn't war just a waste in every aspect (time, money, LIVES!!)? Just think about it.
we cant avoid war entirely because the terrorists love terrorizing us and will not stop if we just say, "Oh mr. terrorist we dont want war." BANG dead dumb american Ten Obama the dickhead says "damn well that didnt work, what should me and my candy ass pussy wife do now? Damn I wish McCain were here to save me!"
no not quite im just tired of people like drpepper23flavors who dont pay attention to what is going on. The terrorists told us its their destiny to terrorize us and they arent going to stop and I believe it.
wel, im arab and i think he knows what he is tryin to imply. if you go into a country you dont know much about . like us arabs, We are extreamly loyal to anyone and anything but we are VERY thik skulled and love to make jokes about everyone and averything. (( well, at least the arabs i met do)) So for example you visit our country and we start making fun of you and joking around. that is just our way of respecting you but mabey you dont know that . thats just the worst case senario.
What the Hell? What the FUCK kind of ideology is that?!! The words I just heard come from your mouth were "In order to stop murderers from murdering, we must murder the murderers." Talk about not thinking of war in absolute terms. Think of it this way: war offers option A and option B as a result, and depending on who wins the war, one of those options becomes a reality. Well, the same two options would be available even without the war, so why not cut the middle man out (war) and get to...
War evolves? Have you ever played fallout?
War, war never changes. :P

not realy because war means like fighting something lol and peace means there is no fighting lol so if you went to another planet and asked who have you been at war with and they said no one and nothing you would think they are peacefull right :)
sparky451 2 years ago
ok think of it this way imagine war never existed then someone asked you was why is it so peaceful we wouldn't have a answer because without peace does not have a definiton
nack287 2 years ago
yer but then again peace would also have many other definitions like if you were not arguing with n e one lol peace.....not fighting ..lol it doesnt need war to exist
sparky451 2 years ago
well i geuss your right in your own respect but it wouldn't be the same definiton i am talking about so how about we just agree to disagree ok

Yeah, I'm with Crabb on this one.

D13247 2 years ago
You're retarded, D13247. Because you think that we don't care about the people in the middle east. The sheer fact that I am in Iraq right now, and my mission is to "Train, Mentor and Advise the Iraqi Police" completely disproves any argument you could possibly have. We also have teams for their Border Patrol, Army, Special Forces, Government jobs, etc. Pretty much, we are here to IMPROVE the conditions of a lesser nation then our own. So I end this with: D13247, you are fucktardidly redarded.

Every day i always think about the russians and how at any time they can press the big pretty red button and every body on this continent is dead due to nuclear bombing. But i don't have problems with Muslims and Iraqis. There are good people and bad people. They are just pinned against their country to fight another country.

i also think that freedom is not free. we have to fight to get what we want out of somebody. in a perfect world, two battling forces would sit down and have a chat about their problems. unfortuately, not everybody is willing to do that. not every country plays fairly. so in order to resolve issues, war is necessary.

legoboy13 2 years ago
You know, your right. I know everyone in the US isn't a gun toting redneck (especially the people on you-tube watching these kind of videos.) But the idea of what this guy talks about "nation building" and "containing threats", talking about "terrorism" wtf is that? People are getting rightfully pissed off when you invade or if you meddle in their countries affairs. Something that most americans think that the US has a right to do. That way of thinking in the US needs to change.
sp1ink 2 years ago
We invaded Iraq with the purpose of getting Saddam Hussein, which we succeeded in. Now we're rebuilding. Also, the MAJORITY(Meaning not all but most) of the Iraqi citizens WANT us here. I speak with cardinal knowledge because I do speak with Iraqi's on a frequent basis.
SFCableUSAF 2 years ago
do you hounestly believe that getting hussein, was the real reason for invading Iraq ?
Soetman 2 years ago
As a matter of fact I do. Do you have any reason to believe otherwise? If you throw in the "We went to Iraq for oil" theory, I'm going to call you retarded right now. If we were here to get oil, don't you think we'd have it? Especially since we took over the country in 18 days. The only reason we're still here (I'm in Iraq) is to rebuild. ALL of the combat forces (like infantry) have left Iraq.

SFCableUSAF 2 years ago
Well no, simply because the U.S went in completely underequipped.
They completely underestimated the potential for destabilization. It's patently obvious that with rising oil prices strangling the U.S that they needed better access to cheap oil.
The fact of the matter is, Iraq is no more or less stable than the day it was invaded, the only difference is people are now used to living in a goddamned warzone.
Yourebuying 2 years ago
Look, I WORK in the oilfield, and I can tell you right now that you simply cannot run a successful operation in a warzone. It constitutes a logistical nightmare when you have to worry about transport lines being sabotaged, workers being killed, etc.
The fact of the matter is the U.S is STUCK in IRAQ, and employing your own logic against you, if the U.S could have quelled dissent in that country THEY WOULD HAVE DONE IT ALREADY.
They simply CANT. You can't nuke a country and drill/transport oil.
Yourebuying 2 years ago
Um, well no the purpose was to find WMDs, which there were none. Then then Bushco simply railroaded the issue into "LOL SUDDAM IS BAYD!"
And the majority of the sheep went along with it.
This was the original plan for some time, they simply marketed it to north america as a "threat" when many prominent figures in the military, including maj General Anthony Zinni, who was in-part responsible for the containment operations in Iraq, said that containment was working, and was cheaper.
Yourebuying 2 years ago
Of course the Iraqi people want the U.S there because the country would descend into outright CIVIL WAR, because the U.S and coalition utterly destabilized the country.

He's \/owed to sacrifice half of Iran which is what would happen if he provoked a nuclear strike.

you have some good points in this and bad points in this video dude, as a squaddie's girlfriend,To soldiers it is "peace keeping", unfortunately it has to happen by violence. i do not agree with the wars of Iraq and Afgan, too many soldiers have died over the years beause they are doing what they think is right for with thier job.some soldiers only see it as a job.I think the USA and UK should leave Afgan and Iraq to it and protect thier own countries.but unfortunately it is not upto us.
strawberryhalzy 2 years ago
I think you're super insightful, Dan. Although, there are some that don't agree with you here, the truth is every country must ensure the safety of it's people. if that means flushing out terrorists that present a potential threat to one's said country, then so be it. Seems like many who've commented against your video are only justifying their disagreement from the perspective of being inconvenienced by invading troops. It's time we regard human life as more valuable than our inconvenience.

Nation building has never worked. A nation has to build itself from with in. Whenever an external governments try to intervene it only make things worse, a lot like when they try to intervene in the economy. World peace cannot be achieved by military control, but by free trade.

ahahaha you got your ideas wrong. wars are to make someone do something that they wont do by their own will.
