This shit makes me want to lace my pair of jordache sneakers, put on my zebra bandana, slip in my fingerless gloves, then snap together the 2 buttons atop on my Members Only jacket ..........cause its C.O.L.D.
I USED TO LOVE WHEN TEE SCOTT PLAYE THIS AT BD N ESPECIALLY ZANZ. THE BASE WAS CRAZY HUGE N CLEAR.. U COULD FEEL THE BUILDING, PAVEMENT OUTSIDE BOUNCE WHEN HE PUMPED THIS..
@psychofred2 The common denominator present in the music from this time period (funk, soul, disco, house, hip hop, new wave, etc.) is actually the german group Kraftwerk. Kraftwerk is the original creator of all these funky beats, baselines and rhythms. Kraftwerk is the creator of electronic music. Kraftwerk is even still relevant to this day. If it wasn't for Kraftwerk, electronic music as we know it would not exist.
@psychofred2 Here is another example of how Kraftwerk is used in different genre's: the baseline in this song is also heard in the song 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen, a rock-n-roll song from 1980.
@ItalianTiger955i Oh, okay. Well, I did make the comment as a fan and not someone who has ever played anything more than chopsticks on a piano. I took Listening to Music 101 and 102 in college (for cultural studies credit), but that's about the extent of any musical background.I have, LOL!. Whoops. Plz excuse my ignorance. Cheers :)
THE 18 IDIOTS THAT GAVE THIS SONG A THUMBS DOWN. HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MUSIC IS... THIS IS MUSIC! Memories growing up In CORONA QUEENS & THE SOUTH BRONX! THANK YOU!
This sounds a lot like Cappricio (Everybody Get Up). The 70s/80s Disco must have had a lot in common with French House music. Were their house parties in the 70s?
@psychofred2 All house music came from disco. As a matter of fact , in Chicago ( where I'm from) The term "HOUSE MUSIC" was the music from the 70s&80s before anyone knew of house music. Later in the early 80s when tracks came out (the "new" house) House music (disco funk soul) became known as Deep House! Again, before House music was known. Even before Chicago mainstream knew about House music. it was kept underground until mid eighties, then the term House music reached NY and other cities.
it sold millions all over the world and every synth player for ever more emulated their sound, including hip hop, new wave, free style, you still can't get fat fresh sounds like this. B boys and B girls break danced and free styled to it.
Publicservant2009,I do remember what you were talking about ROLLER DISCO! When I was age 15-16 and a few times when I was in the Marine Corps at age 20,I went roller-skating and they were playing this cut. This jam is the sh*% baby.I believe I have this on CD.I used to love listening to it as I was cruising down the road. Campbelbe,I'm feeling you on trying to re-live those days of this music.Clubbing isn't as safe as it was back in the 70's and the 80's.I never want to let those days go either.
This was one of those true skate rink songs that everybody was rocking and trick rolling to back in the day. I know I was!!! Dude! I just saw that you uploaded thhis hit on my birthday!!!
people! do u all remember the roller disco's?????????? : ) close ur eyes and just imagine goin round and round with the disco ball reflecting all along the walls of the roller disco, and the strobe lights and colored lights... the dj tower in the center of the rink.... cathing the eye of that girl or guy and waiting to pass them by again showin off ur dance skating moves..... haaaa yes we can still live it! ( and hey! check out my video too!)
I remember this song from the year 1980. I was 12 years old. With all due respect to the Rolling Stones with Mick Jagger ( whom are one of my favorite rock bands for a black man( no racism intended at all. I do like them alot.), brown sugar is one of my favorite hits from them. In the 1981 movie Night Hawks with Sylvester Stallone(Deke DaSilva) and Billy De Williams (Det. Fox), this song( I'M Ready-by Kano) should have been the disco dance floor scene when they discovered Wolfgar.
Boston - Block parties in the schoolyards, Almont Park, Norfolk Park, Thetford Park, Academy Homes, etc..... Man!! This was the JAM!!!! You could hear the block party from 16 blocks away. Incredible times! Incredible music!
Non-stop partying. When you went to club back in those days it was all about getting down with the git down. No time for standing against the wall or standing on the side line. It was all about working up a sweat......a non-stop party for real!!! Hot pants, mini-skirts, halter tops, and shaking your booty. Those were the days. I am still trying to live them to this very day. Never ever want to let them go. It was so much fun.
Seeing I was born in the wrong generation. I think its just stupid how hip hop flushes out this type of funk/dance synth rock. I am more into that funk/dance synth rock than I am into immorally sexualized hip hop, even if hip hop was an extention to funk in the first place (by sampling) (e.g. Whoomp! There It Is sampled this track).
@campbelpe Hello my friend,-I know exactly what you mean, but you can't replicate those past times(unfortunatly). The harder you try, the more dissapointed you will get. be thankful for those days & memories, nobody can't take them away from you. Cheers from germany..

Another great electronic-disco song from the early 80s. So many young people post comments on how 2000s dance music pales greatly in comparison to the 70s/80s - I'm glad they recognize this, because it does ! The social situations of those days along with the arrival of new electronics gave all those artists the hunger and passion to experiment, and out of that came great art and innovation !! We don't seem to have that today, it's already done. Today's sound has gone on TOO long !!!!
No wonder Tag Team, stole the beat of this song for "WHOOP THERE IT IS". This was original and not none of this Gangster rap sh*#,where too many of these punks are stilling other bands rythym's,just so they can prosper. IT'S B.S. They need to use their own beats and rythyms and for the most part, some of them are too unintelligent or dumb to make up their own beats.
I wish this music sitll existed. This was the jam. I remember it like yesterdays news because, they played it at our High School pep-rallies. When they introduced the players on all of our sports teams, they used to play this song and to this date I love it. I was one of the people running out onto to the gym floor, when they introduced the players on the teams. This song has a great beat,it reminds me of when I used to come home on leave from the Marines and cruise around in my old 79 T-BIRD.
AFTER ALL THIS TIME..............I FINALLY FOUND THIS TRACK! Now I know the title and the name of this artist who does it! Is this from 1982, 1983, 1984?? Ah, when I was in elementary school!
I remember this from my child hood days in elementary school. They played this @ the skating rink and on 99 Kiss FM. I like how the synthesizer drops in @ 1:19.
You know how many good songs has get ready in whew, I just found this song I 'aint no quitt'a' This is the one and only one I nearly danced my dawl's off to this song ha ha. I agree young folks 'aint gettin' it all, they gettin' water down stuff, this here and Roger forget it. this was dance music. I'm Threw!
Saw this video in the related videos for an another video.I remembered the name Kano from hearing it on XM radio, wrote the name down but forgot about it.Glad i found it,brings back memories.First heard it in the barracks at Camp Horno, one of the guys jammed it on his boom box.C. Company 1st bn. 9th Marines 1981-1983.
Does anyone know what particular model of synthesizer and other equipment they used to create this sound? I think it's time for it to make a comeback. IJS. :)
Big thumbs UP to this old school jam ! got down to this at PC's in the bronx and also at Roseland in the big money makin' manhattan ny ! nights seemed endless,... cheers to all those who got down to this wherever u heard it,.. we could drink at 18 but did'nt need to. guys and girls grinded each other to jams like this way before Alize and Hypnotic were around and we did'nt need it !
@MzSunnyJeep - The skating rink usta be PA C K E D on the floor when this came on. Even today when they play a blast from the past, the new generation STILL grooves the that N A S T Y baseline")
Damn! We used to blow the motherfuckin' club to pieces with this one here! (did'nt know a single lyric them fools was singin' - except, " are you ready". (lol)
Holy shit ! I forgot all about this one. Going to make a lost and found playlist for my channel. Have not heard this in 20 something years. Nice upload!!!!!!!!
This must my lucky day! Been looking for this jam since 1929. Didn't know who did it nor did i know the correct name of it. Mabe i drank too much "Wine" back when I was a young wise man. Thank you very much Osaama!!!!
1980 when I first heard this.. I was in college and the Motor City crew intoduced the "new wave" sound to my campus and being from DC, Go-Go was and still is OUR trademark sound..
Please dubstep this song

Does anyone know what particular model of synthesizer and other equipment they used to create this sound? I think it's time for it to make a comeback. IJS. :)
