  • i just went throught the rest of the posts. what a bunch of sore losers you corvette lovers are. i bet half of you dont even own corvettes and your crying. this car has full racing suspension and griggs has been knows for YEARS for its incredible suspension. I saw a video of a cobra pulling a 1.5g lateral on a hill climb with griggs suspension... the zr1 doesnt even pull that kind of g through turns. now thats something to cry about. sorry I dont have anymore tissues.

  • So was this a bone stock Mustang GT and just added the GR40ST suspension or was it an actual GR40ST 'turn-key' car with 368 HP? I have a blown '08 Mustang (450 rwhp) and my dad has a C6 Z06 and I just don't see a 300 HP Mustang getting even close in the twisties even if it has those Griggs components. The Corvette drivers MUST have been somewhat conservative for one reason or another (afraid of oversteer???).

  • @Feshdogg

This Mustang has 305HP (dynoed). You have to understand that the Griggs setup replaces the stocks suspension, not just bolting on better components in the stock locations. Different geometry and pickup points. The car is converted to a SLA front suspension for example, similar to a Corvette. So while it LOOKS like a Mustang the underside is completely different, making it very easy to catch Corvettes, Porsches, etc.

  • @GR40Freak So is that 305 FWHP (estimated) or RWHP?

  • @Feshdogg 305RWHP and the best part... 3900lbs at the time of time of the video. Car weighs 3400lbs. with 1/2 tank. I weigh 300lbs alone. passenger in the video weighs about 180lbs. and the car had a full tank.

  • @GR40Freak Any new activity in GR land? I've been watching all I could of you GR guys. I'm wondering if any testing or new development with the new coyote mustang platform is being pursued. The Boss 302 looks mean, but with the GR SLA suspension on one, it would become godly. I would LOVE to see you guys get your hands on a Boss 302 and do your magic with it, and show how it's done! Hell, I think Ford ought to absorb your expertise into their performance division, if you know what I mean.

  • I believe this video is trying to show that even though the Z06 had the power advantage, the gr40 GT was able to carry its speed through the corners. It shows that with the right equipment and an experienced driver, one can be fairly competitive with the big boys.

  • Great showing. High five to maintaining cornering speeds!

  • add some suspension upgrades on the Z06 and you won't see it's dust!!

  • @GR40Freak

Im a little confused about the weight of this vehicle. I found another video of this car saying that it weighed 3420 (no driver). Stock gt weighs 3575. Does this suspension, brakes, wheels, and tires alone really remove 155 lbs?

  • @sdghjsdf

The weight savings with brakes, wheels, and suspension can actually be over 200lbs. it depends on the car and options. I keep doing things to my car. It currently weighs 3395lbs. full of fuel without driver.

  • @madwooky: Add 16k of well engineered parts to a 24k mustang and it keeps up with 80k of Z06. GM adds *35k* of parts to a stock C6 to make the Z06. Are you perhaps saying that they add 35k of *shit* parts?

And we're still talking about a 40k car vs an 80k car.

  • @DeathEaterCobra;Try reading through all the post & look at the videos maybe that would help you understand!

  • just let the cars speak for themselfs you bolt 16k+ of well engineered parts on any car it should run great laps but in the videos they make it sound like the car has a few off the shelf parts & will blow by cars w/5-600hp all day long.Hers an example they easily pass a 550hp mustang w/Griggs GR40SS setup( how is that possible!)maybe the driver insnt pushing as hard, maybe he doesnt have the car setup for this track, theres alot to consider b4 you smack talk other drivers & cars.

  • Ok in watching other videos youve posted i noticed your driving a very aggressive line compared to the other cars including corvettes.that is great for short runs but would nt cut it in an endurance race.

  • @madwooky

That makes no sense whatsoever, you fail

  • Ya right it was the diff, you are driving the wheels off the car and no i dont own a zo6(but i did stay in a holiday inn).you do have to factor in driver desire & ability .

  • Nice driving and I bet that suspension is awesome! I have a $25,000 C5Z corvette with 365 rwhp and I'm just an occasional hpde guy, but I run 1:58-1:59 laps at T-hill in the same configuration as this video (I have videos posted here). So although you were faster than the drivers of those vettes I don't think it's representative of all C6Z drivers with 550 hp ;). However, I always enjoy watching your vids.

  • You guys should see all the hate mail I've received from Z06 owners.. Man its funny.

  • @GR40Freak

I bet... give us a sample of the Z06 "whine"!

    @givant

I have a GR40 World Challenge in my Fox Mustang... and absolutely LOVE it; it's worth every penny!

  • 'stang was left way behind and never had a chance until the Z ran into some traffic.

    No contest , Z is >

  • @c5nate mmm the GT went through around the same cars, making your futile argument invalid,

if the corvette would have run separately from the gt, and the gt would have posted a faster track lap, then yeah, but they were running at the same time..

i am getting one of those suspensions, i dont care if they are 6 thousand dollars (which they are)

and how are they for daily driving @GR40Freak

  • @givant

SS setup is smooth and quiet, you'll love it.

  • So your trying to say your car is better then these other ones, but your car broke?

  • Yup, and you're right the stock differential in my $24,000 Mustang was done after a year or track abuse. After all the car was never intended to be a track monster like the $75,000 Z06. $600 and a Torsen T2-R later, its all better.

  • And you should know that I drove the car 200 miles back to San Francisco that night... no problem. The diff was fine just no limited slip, didn't make a peep all the way home. I guess the diffs are known to not last too long.

  • love the griggs suspension setup buddy.... i'm just waiting on the 5.0 to come out.... i'll be getting that griggs set up......... what a track eater that stang is.. great driving too!

  • He's showing you how a good driver in a slower and MUCH cheaper car can still win a race. Even with his car "breaking", he still did some whoop-ass on the track. His $24k car was not initially factory built for the track so, you'll likely encounter a weak link somewhere. In his case, it was the rear differential. It's all taken care of now......looking forward to more Z06 spanking vids....lol

  • The Vette driver either doesn't want to ball up his car, or (s)he's a new driver doing what he's (s)he' suppose to do, taking it easy until he learns.

a skilled driver is going to beat a newbe in just about anything.

  • Regardless of driver, there is no way a stock motor Mustang GT should run with any Z06. The suspension is that good.

  • Attaboy, C!!! Never give an inch, even if you're down by 250 ponies you can still win with Griggs underpinnings. Not that you can really win a HPDE, but you certainly can lose...

  • @GR40RACER

It was a demonstration charity day thing at Thunderhill. Not HPDE, could do almost anything just had to behave, which can be a real challenge around Miatas.
