@railfankasey well, whatever you apply for, whatever they offer, TAKE it. , these jobs arent easy to get. once youre in though. you are pretty much set.
Loud....the engine makes a really low rumble you feel as much as hear. There is very little sound proofing. Plus we run with the windows and doors open here in Miami!
The museum is a must see for anyone with an interest in trains. Unlike other train museums I've been to, the Miami museum lets you wander around in the train cars at will, you can explore and learn a ton of details. Plus the folks running the engine/caboose combo are really nice, they spend a ton of time talking to us. He opened all the engine compartments for us, showed me the rocker arms while it was running - basically everything on the engine. We are annual pass holders and love it.
I thought standing at the front of a subway train and looking out the window was fun as a kid, this blows that away! I've lived in South Florida for 20 years, I had no idea there was a RR museum. So how is the museum as a whole? I'd like to take a trip down there in the near future, maybe for National Railroad Day. Any opinions on the place?
Good eye, you are correct! I just bought the movie and watched it and sure enough it's that train. It had the 1804 up top and you could see the interior in a few shots.
Well, head on down to Miami for a vacation and drive it yourself! It's going to be 77 degrees and sunny, not a bad time to come here. It's a great railroad museum.
@jmgathg will have to do this if it is still in business. may be coming to miami before too long for school. so this definately will be on my do do list. OFTEN lol

Yes it's loud! The windows are open. But you don't need to hold your ears, the sound is directed out in front of the train. Good luck to you!
