I thank you for this vid, such a beautiful and unique voice in every way...been in many of their lives still can't believe this man exists(as a vocalist and composer)
I'd love to hear the low pitched vocals on Nauticus instead of the cynical joke at the end of the song. It'd be much better to show Daniel's vocal range and his diversity of interpretation.
He's not just singing, he's really invested his own being into music! I dare you to find anyone else with equal as much feeling in his vocal expressions! :D
How can 1 person be so amazing? This guy is my favorite vocalist..well him and Daniel Heiman. You know you're a good vocalist when you make me want to buy each album just so I can hear you sing.
Once again I agree with you! you don't have to love all the songs of a band just because you like this band. There are some PoS songs that i don't like. I should say you missunderstood my first comment. I didn't mean to be aggressive.
Defining is the same as limiting! PoS is unique as Pink floyd is, as Angra is, as so many other bands are. unique doesn't mean the best! it simply means different ! thus there was no absolute statement in my first comment as you insist to claim!
there is the absolute statement that my opinion of PoS is wrong. There's no point denying that. You even claim I haven't listened to the band. I don't know if you did or did not intend to be aggressive, but it still was a direct attack on me.
I can't believe you didn't used that part on Iter Impius that the lyrics are "how could you juuuUUUst... agree?" Anyway, great moments you've selected, made me want to listen to all the songs once again. I just think you could have selected a bit more of low notes, they're awesome on its own too ;)
I couldn't agree more with you, I posted a review to this effect on prog archives. You would think people who listen to music as meaningfull as PoS would have understood Scarsick's intent and how well it acheives it. Ironically, the album they claim to be simplistic, obvious and lacking depth, is the one which they have failed to comprehend properly haha. P.S his rapping parts on spitfall are better then most commercial rappers, and Lordseverin, they have never made pop prog.
There's plenty of good stuff on Scarsick. In fact, it's got the biggest-sounding vocal production of any album. You can't hear the ending of Mrs. Modern Mother Mary (or for that matter, the entire song) and tell me those vocals don't kick ass. Sure, the songs are a little more concise and aren't as "epic" and spine-tingling as the other albums, but if you take it for what it is, it's a fantastic overall production.
what a stupid thing to say. Scarsick is to POS what the black album is to Metallica. A watered-down commercial version of their sound with focus on the wrong aspects of the band especially concerning Daniel's "rapping" skills.
Sur this albm is different but every album of this group is different, i particullary enjoy the concept of BE. In my view scarsick i totally tearing down the mainstream like rap.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Explain to me the grandure of this album? Is the bad rapping supposed to be a parody of typical "tough-attitude" nu-metal bands of is it just a less-than-satisfying part of PoS' sound that has now come into full growth?
Whatever the answer is it's still unsatisfying for a listener such as myself, who got hooked by their melody-driven pop prog. arrangements.
PoS have always been pop infused progressive metal. Don't take the use of the term pop as me comparing them to Christina Aquilera, but more as in the band focusing on making catchy vocal melodies and arrangements. They focus on the good songwriting and not on the technicality itself.
I said bad rapping, because Daniel Gildenlöw simply is a bad rapper. He possesses the fundamental skills of a rapper. His singing outshines his rapping in such a way that it hurts hearing him go to a lower level.
Hmm the do have a song or two in every album that is catchy but other than that it's not easy to listen to and they produce something defferent always that some will not like!
He did good at rapping taking into concideration that he is not one and he did make his pont!
But I get what u're saying and to the point i mentioned i agree!!
Also i was too let down by scarsick but I gave it some time and it really grew in me!!!
He's not really a bad rapper, he's just very different. He's not an Eminem although he reminds me of a more nerdy one, lol. Yeah, it's not his "strong" point, but he does come up with some pretty amazing raps at time that blow me away. Once in a while though, I do wish he kept the rapping out of a certain song. In the end though, I understand the artistic purpose behind it and learn to like it regardless. Purpose is as important as superficial impact sometimes.
You may not like PoS, it's your right. but pop prog? have you really listened to PoS? In my opinion PoS is a band wich its label is almost impossible to define. Some say this is a prog metal band, but PoS is UNIQUE. The fact of blending so many different musical elements to metal doesn't mean it's a pop prog band. the complexity and beauty of PoS's songs show us that they're not only worried about "making catchy(...)"! I'm sorry but you don't understand what PoS really is!
it isn't very wise to burst out with absolute statements like that. You might not agree with my definition of PoS, but to claim you know the TRUE PoS, is as dimwitted as religious fundamentalistic claims.
How can YOU claim to know what PoS is, when you don't even have a clue, what the term pop can imply.
I totally agree with you!it's not wise to burst out with absolute statements! And TRUE? What is this? you were the only one who talked about true.
I only said what I thought and in any moment I said it was the true, if you haven't noticed I Started my statement with the following expression: "in my opinion".
It's interesting when you compare my opinion to fundamentalistic claims, however you were the one who got mad and acted disrespectfully when i disagreed with you!
look at your original post: "You may not like PoS, it's your right." I never said I didn't like PoS, they're my favorite band. That doesn't mean, I have to like everything they put out.
"but pop prog? have you really listened to PoS?" You make an aggressive comment, claiming I haven't even listened to PoS.
"Some say this is a prog metal band, but PoS is UNIQUE." Again with the absolute statements..
"I'm sorry but you don't understand what PoS really is!" another attack
I love Daniel's rapping, it's very different from the rest.
And the new album might surprise you, as it will not be "epic prog". Expect a lot of 70s influences and back to roots of Entropia. It will be a DOUBLE album (22 songs or so)!
Great medley! Amazing voice for sure, one of the best band ever. It reminds me how freaking awesome the album Entropia is! But one thing, what the hell is this song, the last one taken from OHBTCL? at 3:07. I've never heard it before! The same at 5:50 of Remedy Lane album! Gosh!!!
Great idea, but kinda strange for me to listen a whole pos album in just a minute hahaha. Now because of your video I'm gonna listen to TPE (H) yessss

sure... it's a good production, but it's just a terrible album...
no solos... too much rap (which isn't Danny's strong side) and as you said... it misses the epic prog writing...

good job... i love pos. can someone tell me, if daniel sings all the vocal parts (when there are more than one at a time)?
moehrchen5 3 years ago
Entropia was for the most part Daniel, with some nice bits of Kristoffer, Fredrik and maybe Daniel Magdic.
For OHBTCL there were probably a few harmonies sung by Fredrik Hermansson, Kristoffer, and maybe Johan. Again, Daniel did 90% of the vocals.
Same goes for TPE, and RL. 80-90% Daniel, with Kristoffer, Johan, and Fredrik doing certain lower harmonies.
"BE" I think it was 95% Daniel with the obvious female voice in Dae Pecuniae being one of the exceptions.
Scarsick was completely Daniel.
