Moving boldy forward into the past, Mercedes has re-created the 1997 Panoz GTR-1 (Esperante) that raced at Le Mans and in the ALMS. Same bellowing exhaust note (with a bit of added supercharger whine) and same supertanker rear pilot house for the driver (captain?). Don Panoz should receive a royalty payment for each one sold, with interest.

That's camouflage. Try to shoot a car like that and then look at the pictures. You can only see the outline of the car but no curves :p Company competition i guess :p

Not the prettiest but then again neither is the standard SLR. This car pays homage to the Mercedes SLR race-car of the 1950's as driven by Fangio and Moss, hence the bizarre look. Don't know why they bothered to disguise it though as the characteristic McLaren SLR sound is a dead giveaway
