  • Already done clunked it.

  • local jobs hiring online careerstartshop.info lots of new job listings

  • Hi, we're government. We'll take your money, keep a little and use the rest so YOU can buy a cheaper car, how does that sound?

  • my dream is to have a mid to late 70s ford bronco and because of obama most of those are going to the junk yard. thank you obama and all his supporters

  • I thought you were going to say mid to late 70's mustache, like the guy in the vid.

  • ultimate win

  • Lets all smash our windows out to stimulate the glass industry

  • Free Candy!!!! LOL

  • HDHV30 I gave you a thumbs up for the first part of your statement.Obama is doing the best he can with the terrible state of the economy. I do not agree with him crushing a whole lot of nice trucks and classic cars. It seems that these general, blanket policies always inherently have good mixed with the bad. I think that selling or donating these cars to needy families that dont have transportation would be a better idea than destroying them. Restoring them to factory emissions specs first.

  • I completely agree. This bill was based on being environmentally friendly, but why do we ship all these crushed cars halfway around the world to China to be recycled? If the stimulus package is about creating jobs, why don't we create some jobs recycling these cars? Wouldn't that also count as a "green" job? Or maybe it's because we owe China almost a trillion dollars. We want jobs in America, but we also don't want jobs in America. Hypocrite?

  • Well, not-so lucidbarrier, the Democrats are getting ready to push all of us into a big, "general, blanket policy" regarding the health care of 200 million individual Americans. Let's hope they don't screw-up again and start scrapping us!!! Is this really the "best he can" do? Maybe so. He DID appoint a tax-cheat to oversee the IRS as Treasury Secretary. This probably IS his best.... KICK THE BUMS OUT!!!

  • Too bad people in my family just buy a good used car and drive it until it dies. Then will are able to pay our bills and live within our salaries for years. Without that monthly car payment, we have extra money to spend (helping the economy) or save it in the bank to bail our OWN selves out when needed.

Living responsibly is not acceptable to the Pelosicrates and President Obamaruptus.

  • Comment removed

  • Billions + Billions + Billions... of tax-payer funded programs. When will Obamaruptus stop?

  • CFC will end MONDAY!!!!

And hope it stays that way.

  • I live in Canada not far from the border with a smelter north of me. Have been seeing a lot of truck loads of crushed cars going by in the last couple of weeks. Wonder if these are C4C's. If so, thanks for the metal, Obama.

  • What about "The Wraith"?!

  • LOL, The Wraith would've destroyed all the people on the dealerships, cars and all exploding itself in the process, then later manifest itself back into car form and sped off into the sunset ^.^

  • "Concentrated benefits, dispersed costs!"

    LOL, economics joke!

  • Hahahahaha, very funny!

  • Capitalism takes over.. This is insane!

  • im so glad u made this video

  • Goddamn I can't believe the government gets away with all this stupid shit I can't wait for Bush to be out of office then everything will be different... what? Shiiit...

  • forget this program i will never trade in my 2001 explorer sport for import crap forget about it!!!

  • ??? american cars are shite tho. you should get an import. other countries know how to build a car that corners well and has good suspension. american cars are primative.

  • Why am I responding to a guy named spunkternal? Nevermind.

  • Not even cash for clunkers can escape the law of unintended consequences, and it looks like they'll hit hard.

  • No don't clunk Christine, I don't care if it's a senseless killing machine she's still awesome.

  • if you tried that shit on christine she would slam her hook shut on your head(killing you instantly) before you even had a chance to pour in the sodium silicate. too bad cars cant defend themselves.

  • What is the Break Down music called.

  • What is the Break Down music called?

  • Too darned brilliant and penetrating to be on YouTube.

Should be on MSNBC. No...wait..that'd never happen. Promote this video!

Ya know...if we put the gubbamint in charge of the illegal narcotics trade, we could crash its production, distribution, consumption and money routing in just a few short months!

  • Hmn,,,

  • Dude this is awesome! Classic! Way to go double-R!!!!!

  • considering that the top 10 cars traded in so far have been american made and in the top 10 bought have been foreign made, i don't think this was such a good deal for america, maybe japan, but not america

  • It's a great deal for America, because Toyota and Honda are actually building cars here, unlike Ford and GM.

  • Plus, the US automakers will just pad their CEOs' pockets.

  • We are all screwed - believe it!!!

  • ...which he does.

  • The American people need to send the Bill to Obama and the Democrats in congress.

They can work in salt mines until they work it off.

  • People who can afford new cars generally trade up their old vehicles before they become unreliable. Unless a new-car buyer either has a spare car lying around or can't really afford a new one, odds are any "clunker" he'd be selling would be a fairly decent car that could have REPLACED someone else's real clunker.

The purpose of C4C is to decimate the used-car marketplace, thus depriving the poor of affordable transportation.

  • I don't think it's quite the purpose, but I do think it's the eventual outcome. I honestly think that these people just don't know what they're doing and don't realize how they're damaging the economy.

  • the must be downright stupid then. the must have the intelligence of a 5 year old to no see the consequences of this

  • the federal government needs to go fuck its self.

  • lol @ "three second skip protection"

  • Compared to the US bail out of the big financial institutions and the ward in Iraq, the C4C program is nothing.

  • The "ward" in Iraq? Are you talking about Orphan Annie or public policy? No one thought giving people homes they couldn't afford was a big deal, either, and look where that got the economy. This is basically giving ppl car payments they shouldn't have in a recession. You THINK this could come back to hurt the dealers and government later just like that, maybe? Plus, the government couldn't even RUN it properly to the tune of it running out of money in a matter of hrs, THAT'S the point.

  • The bank bailout was a loan to the banks. We're supposed to get our money back.

I don't care if it's $2 or $2,000,000,000,000,000 the Federal Government shouldn't take money out of my pocket and give it to someone else to buy a car.

  • Yes, like I told Gene Taylor, Roger Wicker, and Thad Cochran last week.

"Stop taking my money and giving it to someone else."

I vow to live just above the poverty level until we starve the Federal Government to death. What's the point of working my ass off and giving up my time just to be a slave for the Federal Government?

I'd rather be poor and live free.

  • We should have cash for trailers. Burn down your trailer, modular, or just crappy home. and we'll give you $20,0000 Towards a house that is at least twice as big. And to save the environment, we're requiring low-flow toilets be installed in the new houses.

  • If increasing car sales was the goal of cash for clunkers then it still failed. Edmunds CEO said that most of the clunkers were going to be traded regardless of government policy. The program had quick success because many people postponed their trade time to get a better deal. Another goal was to get rid of old models that GM had so they could show their new fuel efficient models. Congress now that everyone has new cars and debt who will buy the new GM cars?

  • How long before the government starts buying brand new homes and cars for poor people? With Obama, these questions are legit.

  • We spend $742 billion on defense/year and all Fox News can talk about is $3 billion cash for clunkers? I don't support it either but REALLY? Seriously!!?

  • Seeing as one is one of the few defined role of the Federal government and the other is witlessly throwing money at a problem, these are hardly apples-to-apples.

  • haha this video is so true. Obama is a crook

  • Reason TV puts the 'fu--ing' back in 'fu--ing awesome.' Fu--ing the taxpayer, that is.

  • I'd still rather have an unjustified war than cash for clunkers. And the fact that American automakers are surviving stinks.

  • Best tagline ever "CLUNK IT!"

  • funniest reason video yet. awesome work reasontv!

  • Healthcare?....

    Clunk IT!

  • Another waste of tax dollars, as it there weren't enough waste already. Won't make a big dent in the pollution or bring us any closer to energy independence. Hope N Change - pffft.

  • Spot on 5/5

  • CaLUNK IT!!! lolol

  • hahahahahaha

  • OK...funny, but an Escort wouldn't qualify for the program. At least use a car that counts.

  • ah, that was a tempo

  • You're right it was a Tempo -- I used to have one just like that!

  • Yeah, blurglide, you're right. A 1995 Ford Escort with 160,000 miles and a Kelly Blue Book Value of $138 dollars [look it up] doesn't meet NHTSA's definition of "clunker." And neither does Christine, a '58 Plymouth Fury possessed by Hell. Go figure!

  • But a 90 Chevy 1/2 ton, with no rust, no oil leaks and less than 100K does? Seriously, no one is trading in a "clunker."

But then, if the government didn't use the word "clunker" they wouldn't be able to sell the program.

  • The point. You missed it.

  • "New Hampshire!"

  • we need a real stimulus program: cash for community organizers. pay these cretins a million dollars to retire from "public service"

  • I think RP tried something like that before. Give all the Congress million dollars to never go to Washington.

  • 982,882,728,920 thumbs up!

  • But hey, the auto industry needs more bailouts, right? Wait, what happened to all that money that we gave to the banks? Oh right, $33 billion of it went to executive bonuses of $1 million or more. Sweet. I love giving people money. Especially rich people.

God forbid we let bad businesses die and make room for good ones.

  • Yup. I love how we have NO FUCKING SAY where our money goes.

  • Most of these clunkers being traded in are less than ten years old and nicer than the car I currently drive. But it gets better: every car that gets turned in gets the engine trashed so that they can't be resold. So rather than making the best of a bad situation (reselling good engines), we're just piling on the wastefulness (deliberately destroying them).

Oh, did I mention that wreckers can't hold onto the cars for more than six months? More useful scrap sent down the toilet!

  • I must say this is very patriotic guys, but you forgot one thing:

SELL THE USED STEEL TO CHINA!

seriously watch the yahoo video 8/7/09

  • Who gets the money?

  • Obongo Motors: "YES WE CAN" strike a deal!

  • What will poor people drive if we get rid of all the clunkers?

Oh yeah, we can buy em all new cars!

Or build big fancy trains and make everybody ride them!

Man ain't the future with unlimited money great!

  • i lol'd at the buffalo bill van

  • What more is necessary to make us a happy and prosperous people? Still one thing more ... a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from labor the bread it has earned.

    Thomas Jefferson

  • Government a necessity? No way. Anything the government provides can be provided better and cheaper by private companies. Happiness and prosperity thrive in a free market. Government occupation in any given market eliminates competition, stagnates innovation, and increases costs. I vehemently disagree with him: government is antithetical to happiness and prosperity.

  • Hey, that's not Buffalo Bill... that's my car!

  • I do like the "padded dash" with the spike coming out of it.

  • a dissertation on awesomeness.

  • YEEEEE HAAAAAA!!!

    LOL!

  • Concentrated benefits, dispersed costs. Together with slow incremental erosion of our economic and personal rights are the secret herbs and spices that keeps the government humming and the guns at the ready but unused.

  • Uncle sugar is my uncle

he named me Petey Two Sweety, then sold me to a peanut farmer , and bought that car business.

    Thanks Uncle Sugar

  • LOL. Its funny because its true.

  • I would like a new sofa. Why not cash for old sofas.

  • There is no large and influential union for sofa manufacturers.

  • Right on! No one that puts together a sofa makes $75 an hour from turning a wrench.

  • I don't see how a sofa could contribute to "climate change".

Maybe cash for old refrigerators or dishwashers - since they actually use energy.

  • LOL "I already done clunked it!"

  • I lol'd. CLUNK IT!

  • haha, 1:27 made me laugh

    the whole video's great though!

  • Perfect

    LMAO

  • Awesome, guys ;-)

  • LOL that was great.
