However the mulcher plate on lawnboys inhances the stripe and do not cut lower then notch 5 or your lawn will not survive summer,i recomend all the way up.
my lines are vivd more without your idea,nice idea though.I use lawnboy mowers and a 125 john deer (same as home depot) i start from the right side of the yard going up or down then at the end of your row start row number 2 say i went down on first row then you wanna go up now going full deck width.continue process 1 and 2 till u reached the left side of your yard.
ive done the same thing except i used heavy chains and ran it back and forth on the shroud doubling it up and tying it to each end of the shroud with metal wire. (its hard to back up but if you cut right you dont have too :).) also I find it looks a lot better if you use the highest setting your lawn mower has, longer grass = better stripes.
DONT GO IN REVERSE!!!!

It is key when u stripe that u use highlift blades on rider or it WILL NOT work.
