I've been hugged by strangers who just needed a hug & then told me a series of recent deaths of loved ones, been cursed for checking receipts after the alarm went off, been ridiculed by others for being friendly, met people I haven't seen in 35 years, witnessed family arguments & hostility, graciously thanked repeatedly for offering a "cookie sticker", have seen customers bring things back they forgot to pay for (which is heart-warming)...see a little bit of everything in this simple job.
Wal*Mart Greeters rock. I could be having the worst day of my life, and they'd manage to make me smile. They're like adopted grandparents. :D
