This was probably the last gasp for kids' Saturday shows at the cinema, before TV killed them off. I remember going to one in Torquay in 1981, aged 9, the atmosphere was 'end of the pier' and rather old-fashioned, rather sad, really.
I think these preview time chimes were only used in the West End. I know the plumby voice refers to the west end, but I never heard the chimes at provincial odeons, only heard them in the west end ones. Michael Aspel for the rest of the country, and posh voice for the west end.

I guess the Super Saturday Club was like the equivalent of the "kiddie matinee" we've had in the states.
