I enjoy it & met a lot of nice people from all around the world. I opened my account last year for fun & ever since I opened it? I have 130 subcriptions, 117 friends, 6,198 viewers & 30 subscribers. Not bad for someone who never posted a video? Not saying I never will but love to pick out the best I find & talk about them. When I die? I'll leave it as my legacy! (besides my daughter) lol Happy Holidays!

The "line" imo, is if someone actually tried to make it seem like it's really something you'd do. Like the Gary/hitler photoshop image. Nobody in any sane way can think that was really Gary, so I don't think that crossed the line. If someone took an image of another person & used it to pose as that person, that, imo, would be crossing the line. (like identity theft) Just my opinion

This is the guy responsible for sockin and trollin on many networking sites. I just read he also threatens kids online here who supported the blackout. Check his history. Sadists reupload users' videos when they lose their composure, manipulate the graphics, and encourage thousands of viewers to post insults for years. This is a serious problem that causes great harm.
YouTube should not allow viewers to reupload users' speeches without their permission.
I thought the photoshops were good from a technical standpoint. Not Wroth1000 material but they show some skills. Ya know what bothers me, those black bars on old and newer videos, and rats of course. I hate rats, the real ones.

I doubt anything amount of trolling would make me stop vlogging on YouTube. They have limited tools online: shooping, mockery/parody, one star-ing, spamming all your videos comments, marking all your comments as spam, flagging your account...at the end of the day, YouTube would likely help out with the reversal of such acts.
But were I to lose my interest in vlogging, I'd probably stop (leave the channel up, but stop). The other thing would be IRL threats, but likely I'd be able to handle them.

Of course there is a line Victor. The problem is each person is different, while you or the others might find humor in the video, Gary does not. So is there a line across the board? Most likely not. Are there certain things that would qualify as crossing the line for each person? Probably.
These pictures wouldn't bother me ... I guess it also depends on what you're doing with the pictures ... if someone would put my face into an SS uniform then I would be mad ... but not closing my account. But as a mouse is cute ;o)
Victor, what bothers me is if a friend is wounded. I am too thick skinned judge the incident by how I feel about what the haters do. It bothers me to have seen how they have hurt Mel, and other Youtubers. Some people are really vulnerable and I am sensitive to that.

'Shopping heads onto stuff is older than the internet, so i think if you're on youtube you've already experienced this phenomenon in some for or another, especially females. I laugh it off, I won't begrudge someone for being creative and thinking of me as being a notable figure. This is definately crossing the line. The only ppl who seem to think otherwise are haters - and there are a lot of them out there. This is one of the reasons I will never appear in a video.
I wouldn't have been frightened by such a video, but I did recieve a direct threat on my life for no apparent reason here on Youtube. THAT freaked me out a bit on the day. In retrospect, I don't care, but I did talk to the local police about it and report the user just in case.
I like this kind of video when it's well done. I think this one was well done. I think this is a valid form of expression. Nothing on YouTube could drive me off of YouTube, though certain circumstances in "real life" might.

I think if you are offended by things like this you shouldn't be on the internet in the first place. Photoshop'ing a persons head onto the body of a mouse shouldn't be any reason for that person to completely leave YouTube. No matter what you do, you are going to be trolled in one form or another and if you don't understand that at the time of deciding originally to come to a network like YouTube, you shouldn't make that decision. The defacing of one's image is highly regarded as rude or inconsiderate but people are going to think of you how they like. Bitching about it just makes you an ass.
It's a high quality parody with a lot of creative effort poured into it. You should all be flattered. Some of the finest artists have done this kind of thing for centuries and been celebrated for it. I'm not sure where the line is. Perhaps when it becomes cruel or to incite hatred of those depicted.
Another way to look at it is from the marketing perspective. Any publicity is good publicity. Haters come and try to make you look bad, stir up controversy, and generally get lots of views. But then normal "decent" folks like me find their videos, and in doing so, find great YouTubers. I've found probably 20 awesome YouTubers I'm a big fan of now thanks to the antics of Jr. High dropouts. And really, nobody believes the haters' crap, not even themselves. Don't take it too seriously.

Victor, what bothers me is if a friend is wounded. I am too thick skinned judge the incident by how I feel about what the haters do. It bothers me to have seen how they have hurt Mel, and other Youtubers. Some people are really vulnerable and I am sensitive to that.

'Shopping heads onto stuff is older than the internet, so i think if you're on youtube you've already experienced this phenomenon in some for or another, especially females. I laugh it off, I won't begrudge someone for being creative and thinking of me as being a notable figure. I would only find it a threat if the person harassed me directly, otherwise it's all for shits and giggles. Good idea tho Victor, about taking the chance to talk to youtube staff!

I thought it was funny but my friend who's not on yt thought the whole thing was disgusting, particularly the distortion of the faces, or my face because he doesn't know the other people.
It's really not cool that they portrayed you as being dead and I'd have preferred they left Mel out of it.

I wouldn't have been frightened by such a video, but I did recieve a direct threat on my life for no apparent reason here on Youtube. THAT freaked me out a bit on the day. In retrospect, I don't care, but I did talk to the local police about it and report the user just in case.

Nope this wouldn't bother me. I didn't make videos for a long time but not because I was worried about anything like this. I didn't do the videos because of being overweight.
I do think stuff like this shouldn't be allowed though without permission from the people to be photoshopped simply because others might be really upset by it.

Now that Mel is back, I honestly don't know of anyone who has left over someone making photoshopped images of them. I know some may have left because they were mocked when they had acted like idiots and were too embarrassed to stay. But, over images alone? I don't think so. I think the very vast majority of people who have been mocked off YouTube were chased with words as the sole tool.

No. That is just funny and silly. The hurt feelings come when PhotoShop is used to point out that someone has made a fool of himself or herself and mock them when they really have. Then, they get all embarrassed and butt hurt and sometimes leave. Photoshop images are nothing more than cartoon depictions and should be protected under free speech.

This wouldn't really bother me but pictures of me photoshopped into porn (and I have seen them) those bother me. However, if it had been grotesque like yours (which actually does constitute a threat, IMO) that would actually bother me.

And by the way, even if he DID own copyrights to a compressed quality video of himself, a parody of his image (photoshop, characature, etc.) would be regarded as satire, and therefore considered "fair use", according to EFF.

Photoshop'ing a persons head onto the body of a mouse shouldn't be any reason for that person to completely leave YouTube. No matter what you do, you are going to be trolled in one form or another and if you don't understand that at the time of deciding originally to come to a network like YouTube, you shouldn't make that decision. The defacing of one's image is highly regarded as rude or inconsiderate but people are going to think of you how they like. Bitching about it just makes you an ass.

It's a high quality parody with a lot of creative effort poured into it. You should all be flattered. Some of the finest artists have done this kind of thing for centuries and been celebrated for it. I'm not sure where the line is. Perhaps when it becomes cruel or to incite hatred of those depicted.

Another way to look at it is from the marketing perspective. Any publicity is good publicity. Haters come and try to make you look bad, stir up controversy, and generally get lots of views. But then normal "decent" folks like me find their videos, and in doing so, find great YouTubers. I've found probably 20 awesome YouTubers I'm a big fan of now thanks to the antics of Jr. High dropouts. And really, nobody believes the haters' crap, not even themselves. Don't take it too seriously.
