so when you spray the koolaid on the roving just drizzle it on... hmmm okay.... lol ^.^ i am going to build hand spinner and a large wheel. I figured out how to do the large wheels. :D
I've used the squeeze bottles, also "perm bottles" from the beauty shop. Somehow the syringes have survived "storage" - and I also use them to inject with the needle into balls of yarn so they are quite handy. (I'm currently signed in as RallyJudge - my other channel.) Anything that will get the dye onto the fiber will work. The foam "paint brushes" also work, especially for special effects.
You can also use a sqeeze bottle from the condiment section at the supermarket/big box store rather than a syringe. Thanks for the great video. I can't wait to try this with some roving I have at home!
Hi! Do you mix the kool-aid in water or in vinegar? What are the proportions? I would like something dark (I'll try the black cherry kool-aid), and don't want it to turn out pastel or bright, what do you recommend, in terms of mixing water/vinegar? Thanks!
@samarakiihl She said 2/3C of vinegar in each measuring cup. I have heard that you should use 2-3 Kool-Aid packets if you want a deeply saturated color, as well as mixing it in straight vinegar.
To minimize felting handle wet wool as little as possible and then only push down on it, don't wring or twist. Be sure to let wool cool completely before rinsing and then squeeze out the water or blot on a towel. Some kinds of roving felt much easier than others - Faulkland and Merino take special handling and care.
