@cj397 Nadal doesn't have to win 5 US Opens and 5 Wimbledons in a row to be in the argument for greatest ever. Nor does he have to reach 23 consecutive semis at the slams. He just has to get closer to Fed's slam total. Rafa has the winning H2H against Fed, he won the gold medal, and he will undoubtedly retire with more Masters 1000 titles (already has the record). He also has the record for most consecutive wins at a tournament (six at Monte Carlo). He doesn't need Fed's records.

I agree Federer isn't very sporting here. That's very unusual though! He's usually very good. Loosing a GS final must be heartbreaking, regardless of how many you've won previously. Federer imo is the greatest tennis player out there. No disrespect to Nadal, I think he's a great player, but the way he plays the game will take a toll on his body young.
Nadal is so incredibly humble and considerate i find it hard to believe anyone doesn't like him. He won the match, and he wasn't an asshole about Federer's crying, which he could have been, and I doubt many would blame him. Both are a credit to the game.
I was surprised he wasn't voted for (by other players) the best sportsman award in tennis (which Roger won for like 5/6th time in a row) but they probably never will because, although he is gracious like you say, he, in the opinions of the other players, is a huge time waster on court.

Last year at the French, for once, Nadal wasn't good enough to make the final. Federer seized his opportunity, and deservedly won the tournament.

Federer is arguably the best tennis player of all-time. I'm not taking anything away from him.
However, even the most diehard Roger Federer fan has to feel a little empty knowing that Fed still hasn't beaten Rafa at the french.

i remember ppl saying in 2005, 2006, 2007 how gracious and polite roger was on court.... and it was solely becaue he was winnning all the time and had no reason to get angry. in 05 he won 81 matches and lost 4! but as soon as he started losing in 2008 all of those manners completely degenerated.

I agree Federer isn't very sporting here. That's very unusual though! He's usually very good. Loosing a GS final must be heartbreaking, regardless of how many you've won previously. So criticising him for being a bit grumpy and crying is very easy to do when sat in front of the computer. Fed and Nad are BOTH awesome!

Learn to understand the context...just before he said that, he talked about blowing leads in the first, and then said he played terrible in the 5th, thus "handing it over to him"...he never said or implied that Rafa didn't play better in the match overall.

he has the most number of GS titles, most consecutive semifinals and finals run, and the most dominant years as no1 the world has ever seen.

Federer imo is the greatest tennis player out there. No disrespect to Nadal, I think he's a great player, but the way he plays the game will take a toll on his body young.
Nadal is so incredibly humble and considerate i find it hard to believe anyone doesn't like him. He won the match, and he wasn't an asshole about Federer's crying, which he could have been, and I doubt many would blame him. Both are a credit to the game.

I was surprised he wasn't voted for (by other players) the best sportsman award in tennis (which Roger won for like 5/6th time in a row) but they probably never will because, although he is gracious like you say, he, in the opinions of the other players, is a huge time waster on court.
Roger lost this match for poor serving - why he served poor you can debate - but not the fact that's why he lost here.

By the way, to always give ur opponent cred. when u lose is starting to get pathetic actually.
