In an interview Polly said this album was a `flirt´ with the mainstream music industry! (She just wanted to see if she could `pull it off´) I think this says something about people that rate this as her best album!
@moparlarsson And how do you measure what is an artist's best album? It happens to be PJ's bestseller, and my personal favourite, although I have to say nearly all of the tracks on this album sound far better played live.
@m06een00 I didn´t mean to hurt anyone´s feelings with my comment, just acting overprotective to one of my favorite artists! To me PJ´s albums are all different creatures ,each one "best" in it´s own way and NO! i don´t measure musical quality in sold records!
I remember hearing a 30 second clip from "You Said Something" on a sampler for "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea". It was more than enough to make me go buy it. It's just such a beautiful, romantic song - sounds just like the beginning of a relationship.

first time i went to ny, i went on the RICKI LAKE SHOW to talk about domestic violence in lesbian relationships. a limo took me and my b-friend to the airport, hotel, i got to be...'hey, jackie, let's go IN THE TV'. have never felt so adult, all my fear, ghosts from VA, my past, even my LD map reading, direction skills all HEALED. 2nd time in ny was with the girl i complained about on show on vacation. we exchanged 'vows' in the park, on the steps with pedler rings. drunk, a joke.
The album was mostly recorded in London I believe but she has described New York well here
I think the album now being over 10 years old is slightly under rated in terms of the way it describes relationships like poetry. It took me a long time to get into her music, but this song is an example that she was (is) a modern day poet on love
