I was there when this happened. I was at Urraca Camp when it hit and the whole thing turned into a flash flood. Luckily, it lasted for only about 2 hours, but almost sunk 2 of our tents. Still one of the best times I've ever had in my scouting career!
My dad was there with my brother at that time, they said the weather would change constantly each couple of hours, and it would rain each day at noon.
When I went just a couple months ago, we didn't get any rain except on day 7.
I love philmont, cant wait to go back next summer. While we were on the trail we were got a masive storm with hail. Got a little wet but it was awsome. For some reason storms at philmont are better than anywhere else.
i got caught in one of those last summer, running up hill from the staff campsite to where my crew was set up. came out of no where, huge thunder, loads of hail, and pouring rain. fun as hell. =D lucky under your tent.
That was the last time i was at Philmont. And I miss it!!

i didn't go after all, i went to wyoming instead but we would take 1 pochet knife and a big old knife like i had a Ka-Bar.

Our Crew was huddled at 12,200 feet on Mt Baldy when this hail and lightning storm came thru.
