Yes, but it's MUCH better now... atomic flying cars, settlements on the moon, no cancer or other illnesses, no more war!, we beat the alien invaders, finally went back on the gold standard, no actor would ever be a politician, and those springs under our shoes became jets... ahhhh, so cool!... just like they promised us!
Love the video but two things are way out of the 50s era. I know I'm being a stickler.
Consumer type 8 track audio tape cartridges -like the one shown - came along in 1965 and lasted til the very early 80s. Tanya Tucker was born in 1958 and did not start recording until about 1972.
The TEAC 4 channel reel to reel shown is from the 1970s. Popular consumer tape recorders of the 50s included Voice of Music, Wollensak/Revere and Webcor - to name a few.
You are correct. I was a teen-ager in the fifties and grauated from high school in 1960. This video was intended as a nostagia video to cover the things that I remember from the "olden days". I've corresponded with a singer named Rick Stallworth and he gave me permission to use his rendition of "Lost in the Fifties" so in gratitude and recognition of Rick, that's what I named the video even though it could have been called more accurately "Lost in the Olden Days". Thanks for your interest.
PS: I had an 8 track player in the 1967 Mustang that I bought new from the Ford dealer in the fall of 1966 and I had a 4 channel Teac reel-to-reel tape recorder that I bought at the Post Exchange at Saigon AB when I was in Vietnam in 1970. Thanks again for your interest.
Fine video quality reproduction of some of that golden decade's most nostalgic items.
Well done.
