747-400 is very noisy aircraft, every time i fly with it i get trouble with my ears :) tooo noisy.a380 are quiet,very comfy, u dnt even notice the take off,well hope the new 747_8 will be comfy and quiet

I know this sounds silly, but what dose a pilot actaully do for a 12 hr flight, the auto pilot is on most of the time.

Do they just sit and watch instuments? Read books?

@zenbey101 reading for pleasure inside the cockpit is strictly forbidden. they just monitor instruments, converse, read checklists ect.

@JazzAce340 My friend I am also a pilot, have been for over 40 years. As part of the training, we were told to keep all control areas free of any coffee cups, papers of any kind, clothing, ect. That was the only reason for my comment. Maybe things have changed with some pilots. YES I still fly.
