mark's monologue is way too slow, connie doesn't know the words, and everyone is so flat and boring. they don't even dance, they just stand there. the montage is the best, most active, most fun part of the entire show and they fucking stand there. this is shit. i'm appalled.
Wow. Between the complete lack of dancing, atrocious acting, and flat singing, this is actually laughably horrendous. Connie doesn't even know the correct lyrics!
I'm watching this for a reference, and it's a bad idea. I mean, the songs can be learned this way, but they don't move, and there is so much dancing in this show. And the background characters are very distracting in each number. I love this show to death, and I liked the performances, but it could've been better.
A Chorus Line without dancing? It just seems a awkward with them just standing there. In real life, would the entire line of auditonees break into dance during someone else's audition? Probably not. But keep in mind this is Broadway. It needed a dance.
I also agree with alyvideo. The people in the background were very distracting with all the fake little giggles. Really took away from it.
The director (aside from having them dance...) really should have told the folks in the middle of the line (black leotard in particular) to stop mugging and stealing focus. All those fakey little pokes, grimaces, and giggles....they do not improve the scene. Right before he says, "Wet Dream," she wiggles her head as if to say, "What?" Doesn't work. I apologize if my comment offends. Just something to think about! You don't have to try project everything on your face and through your gestures.
yeah, i agree with you Quentin100909, it's waayy to dull or in otherwords, slowpaced. it should be more upbeat and you guys should've moved around more in the begining of the montage. oh well, still good acting!
that was an awful version of mark!!! recently the year 2's at my college did chorus line for their FMP. and their mark was amazing, he was really funny, shy, young looking (even though he is the oldest in the class) and an amazing actor!!!!!! come on boy your ment to be the baby! and american!!!!! get some acting lessons and use the stanislaski example of getting into character!!!!!!
Nice try at a great musical. Unfortunately I agree, Mark is done all wrong in this version. His character is much less confident during his speech, remember he's supposed to be 17, the youngest out of adults. I also find myself wishing the rest of the cast would speak/sing louder and more confidently. In general for all clips from this line, the acting is pretty terrible and the actors need singing lessons, esp. holding out notes rather than cutting them short to save breath.
The tempo is way off. After that opening bit, it's supposed to speed up, and back off a little bit for Mark's bit. It stays the same tempo almost through the entire time.
love chorus line and from what i've seen from your videos, i wish i could have been there to see it. people can gripe that these people aren't dancers all they want. but you guys did a hell of a job anyway :)
I understand that these people aren't dancers (especially cassie, from what the music and the mirror video shows) but what's the point of doing a chorus line without the dancers being able to dance? It's a little redundant...
Did you mean to sound really bored?? It looked like none of you could be bothered.

I believe this musical was made FOR dancers so when the main characters in this can't dance its disappointing.

Connie said one of her lines out of order. And why is there no dancing? I loved it when Christine yelled "Seeing Daddy naked!" That was funny.
