Market Garden would NEVER have worked. The allies simply underestimated the German strength and stubbornness when defending their homeland. Even if the Arnhem Bridge had been taken and XXX Corps advanced over the Rhine and into Germany then what? The advance would only have been stalled and beaten elsewhere by German counter attack. It probably would have been worse as it would have been deeper into German territory.
The Americans got stalled at the west wall in Oct/Nov '44 too.

Market Garden would NEVER have worked. The allies simply underestimated the German strength and stubbornness when defending their homeland. Even if the Arnhem Bridge had been taken and XXX Corps advanced over the Rhine and into Germany then what? The advance would only have been stalled and beaten elsewhere by German counter attack. It probably would have been worse as it would have been deeper into German territory.
The Americans got stalled at the west wall in Oct/Nov '44 too.
