How fast was she running at 6:01 in the video? Was that 30 MPH? The reason why I ask is because in September of this Year she'll be visiting the CVSR and her top speed on the line will be 30 MPH.
The track speed for this line is somewhere around 40MPH. Again this is the track speed for the normal GLC freights and excursions but steam track speeds will generally less, this is because the engine is heavier and the turning radius puts more stress on the curves. The only exception to the speed restriction was 765's final run by and even that was not more than 40 mph. The only reason the run bu was faster was because of the track curvature through the area.
I know, it was the best ending I could do, once I had finished pacing cars and other people started piling up in front my of camera obstructing my view of the train. That was also the last clip I took.
because I've looked at route maps and talked to engineers. most of the route is 35 and it is 45 near carland. There used to be a section just south of Alma that was 15 but that was repaired to 35 for the festival late last year
Both 765 and 4999 went between 30 and 40 MPH those days. The only exception was 765s last run by at the park. During 765s run by I was standing next to the crew of 765, who were making sure no one got in the way of the train, and one of them said something along the lines that this was the hardest we have worked the engine since the rebuild. I know 765 had been rebuilt shortly before the event.
@spiritwingsvirtual her last overhaul was completed in 2005. The official break in run was in 2006. I joined the society in october 2009 and am workin my way on up.

@MrWrawroacx I believe it is about 30, but I don't think it was anything above 30.

The ending had a bit of a drawback to it.

the 765's crew pushed the speed limit so much when they were there. 45 means 45. not 50.

great video by the way

All right, already! Enough of the whistles. Why can't we enjoy exhaust sounds on steam videos, especially when starting, sans whistle

What kind of whistle was she wearing? It definitely didn't sound like her NKP 6-chime.
