Hi, for instance in the intro-riff, if you listen the original song more carefully you will hear: G-Aflat-Bflat-Aflat-G- E!!! - Dflat-Dflat-C etc. And you play C instead of E.

I have noticed further "mistakes", but it would be easier to show these pitch-differences, if i could write them in to a score- Do you know or use the Finale 2009 scoring (notation) program? If you really want to know, I'm glad to note the real sequences.

@TheChance80 Not using score nowadays. Anyway (and though I recorded this in a very quick way, see description), I took the time for checking again the track and I still hear C after G, not E. I know there is a problem on the background loop sequence.

@TheChance80 I think it's great playing 'his' version of 'Fools' by Alan Wilder.The intro sound used by Wilder is from a PPG Wave synth,that Depeche used a lot in from:Broken Frame to S.O.F.A.D

Get yourself a Microwave (or better yet, a PPG Wave 2.0) and you'll be able to nail the song - it really relies heavily on that synth and the very delicate and clear sounds it can do.

If you could obtain a MW version 1, you could really make your DM covers, well... more DM-like.

It's always nice to see someone put some time to recreate songs like this... it sounds very good, although yes, you missed some notes, but still, just taking the time to do this it's what gives.... CONGRATS!!!!

...about missing some notes - or hitting the wrong ones:

I just LOVE old, early period DM concerts, when most parts were played live and their playing was far from perfect.

Being a fanatic of electronic-created music, I'm really fed up with artists whose live acts consist of multitrack sequences launched from a macbook pro on stage.

I would give an arm to see DM perform like they did in those days... Live! Like you are doing in your vids, DX5!

To make it even better - in the verse u have left the second filler base on loop it is not looped in the orginal of u listen hard - as it is now it sound a little out of tune since the notes collide - but now im being really mean (and yes, im a hardcore depeche mode fan and keyboardplayer)

Yes, It is really comfortable to read now with backlight.

There are some sellers on ebay with this stuff, not much expensive. If you want to save money, you can always seek for one of those at LCD manufacturing companies.

Very nice, you have all the gear that counts: Emax II, DX7, JX8P. It really hurts to look at keyboard designs past the 80's. I'd exchange Fantom G for a D-50 in a heart beat. Keep up the good work man on the greatest gear ever made.

Which one plays the bass? I really like your emax II. I just traded my emulator II, it had some issues. This sounds good.

Bass is coming from a software synth called Subtractor (included in Reason). I could record it from the DX7 but this way it was faster.

BTW the emax is the I model. And All the Emulator/emax series are easy to give faults. I have another emax which got totally frozen.

That's why according to one of Depeche Mode tour staff the band had two Emaxes during their Devotional tour — in case one breaks down, they can use the spare one. Indeed, you can see then Fletcher played only the upper E-mu, whereas Wilder used his Akai sampler (the white bottom keyboard) during the performance.
