  • Thankyou so much for this. I love makeup but the only thing i haven't been able to do successfully is wear eyeshadow.. i just realised i have hooded eyelids today!! Argh.

  • Thank you so much! My eyes look just like this and it helped SO much!

  • I have hooded eye lid, but I also have alot of creases in my lid. Could you recomend a eye product I can use as a base?

  • umm.. those arent hooded eye. at. all.

  • Love it thanks so much I finally know what to do with these baggy eyelids of mine!!

  • @zoeymaicaboo See I didn't realize for a long time, always wondering why my 'winged' eyeliner was looking weird. Do you know the correct way to do it on your self?

  • @lilpumpkinpie05 Is there anyway you can teach how to do a winged eyeliner on her eyes? I know thick eyeliner would take up all the space on the mobile lid but the eyeliner would be the main focus I'm looking for anyhow. Is it a lost cause to try? I can't ever get mine looking good. I loved your comment to that person because it's true regardless of what they think, you have helped so many people! Thanks again :)

  • :-)

  • Thankyouuuuuuuuu you are the best teacher now I can do my makeup better

  • I just learned so much! Thanks!

  • Thank you so much, that was very helpful. x

  • Wow, I always thought my eye shape was different and tried so many make up looks.

  • Your model has almost my exact eye shape/size and I found this tutorial VY helpful! Thanks you so much :)

  • This does help coz the lady has the same eyeshape as me

  • Great video, even my more mature hooded eyelids are looking great with this advice. Thanks for taking the time,

  • Really helpfull thank you !!!

  • Wow thats lovely!! Gonna try that doubt I have the colours tho lol

  • She is right people. This IS a variation of a hooded eye. I have hooded eyes, quite like the model. My brother however has a more hooded eyelid than mine. If you watch gossmakeupartist he explains eye shapes and that hooded eyes can be from completely covering the lower lid to slightly covering it. It can be genetic, aging or both. This was an excellent tutorial, thank you!

  • @PurrtyCat83 Thank you so much :)

  • @PurrtyCat83 i agree. i have almost the same eye shape as the model, and I've always considered myself as having "hooded eyes" :)

  • Thanks, I felt this was very helpful

  • THIS is what a hooded eye is.

People need to make up their mind cause my eyes are nothing like this.

  • Great tutorial, I learned a lot from it :)

  • Do you think this wouldlook as good without the tight line? I'm horrible at tight lining

  • This is the best tutorial I've seen for a hooded eye! I loved it! Thanks! xx

  • question!!! I've seen a lot of videos with false lashes on hooded eyes. do the falsies help with this or is this the artist's preference?

  • And now I know my eye shape. Thanks, I've been trying to figure it out for a long time now.

  • Thanks so much! I've struggled with eye makeup my whole life, and pretty much gave up on it when I had to start wearing glasses. But now that the glasses are gone, I've been trying it again to no avail... my eyes are so "hooded" that even relatively thin eyeliner winds up under my brow when I open my eye! This tutorial helped immensely in sorting out the best techniques. Forwarding it to all my cousins who also inherited these deep-set eyes!

  • Isnt this a deep set eye :)?

  • Very well explained great job :))

  • Thank you so much I needed this video!! :)

  • I love the colors on this.

  • Had to revisit this video. This is the best one for hooded eyes. My eyes are hooded and the lid has a lot of natural creases. I want to fake a higher cut crease kind of look but don't know how because of my hood/sag above my eye.

  • In my opinion the model in this video does not have hooded eyes. You should see mine, you can't see the lower lid at all unless I open raise my eyebrows. I tried to do this for New Years with glitter and you coudn't see anything.

  • @Naidalis1 Your eyes might be more deep set, like mine? It's annoying, winged eyeliner always looks slight munted on me!

  • @Naidalis1 there are different variations of eyeshapes, some more exaggerated than others.Just because they do not look like exactly like yours does not mean the same techniques don't apply. So yes, the model features in this video does have hooded eyelids, just probably aren't as severe as yours.

  • @lilpumpkinpie05 The model DOES NOT have hooded eyes The defenition of hooded eyes is an eye shape which doesn not allow you to see the lower lid at all. Anything above that is called standart eye shape. Learn more about shapes.

  • @GiancarlaSenna lol her eye shape is whatever you want it to be sweetheart. No one is going to argue with you. You've obviously been lead to believe one thing, and I another. It's just a difference of opinion. It's not going to change mine, nor am I trying to sway you to believe me. All in all it's very clear this video has helped thousands who consider themselves to have a hooded eye shape so I must have done something right :-) But thank you for the input.

  • oh this is perfection... i wanna do my friend's makeup and i dont want to mess up cuz i know her eyeshape is not the same as mine, she has hooded eyes and this was very helpful!

  • I've looked through pretty much all the hooded eye makeup tutorials and in my opinion, this is by far the best one I've seen! Thank you for this video and keep them coming!

  • Quite possibly the most helpful makeup tutorial on youtube :) Thank you sooo much for making this :D

  • @flyingsmilodon aww I'm really glad you found it helpful! thank you for watching!

  • This is a great video, my eyes are just like hers but green and lighter skin, I love it, didn't realize my eyes were hooded! thanks

  • @Ameliabelle10 I am sure this would look just as beautiful on you. Green eyes and purple eyeshadow are a MATCH made in heaven!

  • @Ameliabelle10-I have hooded shape with the blue/green hazel eye color. Purple looks FABULOUS to make the green pop. wear purple to make them pop more ;-) @lilpumpkinpie05-I haven't looked is there videos for eyes colors? I'd like to make the blue in my eyes pop sometimes as well and I just haven't found a color that works right. thanks!

  • ahhh I'm new. I love your videos.

  • Thank you for doing a hooded eye makeup tutorial on someone with a hooded eye! Gorgeous look!

  • @rojaslp28 thank you ^_^

  • Your face is white.. why is your hand black? O-O

  • @LilVietCutiie She is doing a tutorial on her friend. She is black and her friend is not. (:

  • @LilVietCutiie Is this a real question?

  • @LilVietCutiie she said that she is applying make-up on her girlfriend :/

  • Woah...I have hooded eyes... Didn't even know.

  • Nice work!...TRACK

  • this is great! i only just discovered i have hooded eyelids (hence why no makeup looks were working out for me) and so i'll definitely be trying this out! thanks a bunch :)

  • banging!!!!!!!!!!

  • luv it thank u!

  • clear and precise. nice work!

  • i like the fact that it doesnt look like ur hurting her when applying her makeup... trust me, ive seen makeup artists that are heavy handed and it looks as tho the client/model's eye ball will be sore after the makeup is done

  • i think...i have hood eyes....lol still not quite sure...but i know my crease isnt obvious and my brow bown isnt prominent either...i mixed. my grand mother is part asian so my eyes are..i guess hooded and borderline mono lid....i cant really tell but this vid kinda gives me an idea...thanx for the tutorial, it made things make sense on why certain looks dont look very well on me lol. thanx for using a model. i would love for other gurus to use models when demonstrating a different eye shape :)

  • This was helpful I didn't know I had a hooded eye until I saw this video.

  • I have always wondered why my shadow would never look the same as others but now I know why lol I love the video it really helped me now I have to try this technique. I just hope I can get it right

  • I like it you're great!!!

  • Thank u! this helped alot!!!

  • It's cool cuz for once the make up tutorial for hooded is made with hooded eyes (sorry for my english), thanks for this tutorial

  • Thank you for doing this! I had no idea I had hooded eye lids until watching this video. Many of my questions have now been answered.

  • Oh my God!!!!! That's what i have. Thank you so much!

  • I hate having hooded eyelids):

  • Loved this! I, too, would love to see a tutorial on winging liner on hooded eyes.

  • Super helpful tutorial. Thank you so much for posting it!

  • Beautiful!

  • this is very helpful and it looks great that the camera is really focused on the eye unlike other tutorial. now, my question is, i have hooded eye, almond shape and a very small lid space and i find it very difficult to find the outer v. can you post a tutorial for this? or can you give me technique on the placement of color? i also have problems in blending when i use the 224, the colors tend to go a bit higher (just like what you said), i will get that eyeshadow shade.

  • @kimmidoll9 it would be very difficult to try to illustrate a technique that's very specific to your eye shape since my eyes are the opposite and are large in shape, BUT what I can do is definitely suggest using smaller eyeshadow brushes. the 224 brush for me would be like a 217, 219, or 22 brush for you. they are more tapered at the tip and perfect for getting into the corners of those with smaller eyes. those brushes are amazing! I hope that helps you!

  • This is super super helpful!! I'll have to try this look out, it looks absolutely gorgeous on the model :)

  • Very nice!!! Great tutorial!!!

  • This is a great tutorial. Do you have any recommendations on how to do a winged eyeliner on for a hooded eye? I sometimes feel like the "wing" of my winged liner ends up looking like a strange upward curve and I know it has everything to do with my eyelids being hooded (much the same as your models). Please help! You seem to explain things REALLY well! Thanks!

  • Thank you soooooooo much for posting this tutorial! I'm still perfecting makeup application, and though I can do my own eyes and eyes like mine; which are similar to yours, I find myself feeling intimidated doing makeup on women with hooded eyes. I've NEVER been able to get it right. And there are SO MANY women with hooded eyes! But THIS really, really helps! I can't wait to practice this! :-)

  • Thank-you so much for the advice. I also have hooded eyes & now that I've learned what I can do with them, I can show them off more, & make the defined look. I'll be trying this out ! = )

  • Wow! That's pretty.

  • thank you for this tutorial...me and my hooded eyes thank you!!!

    love her brows.

  • thank you for this tutorial...me and my hooded eyes thank you!!!

  • I just found you on YouTube...you truly do excellent work!

  • Thanks for doing this tutorial, i always had trouble applying eyeshadow it never looked right, thanks for showing me the right way for my eye shape.

  • I have eyes like this, and I didn't realize they weren't the "normal" eyelid...I thought eyes like yours, which I guess is the so-called normal eye, were hollow eyes.

  • Please do more hooded eyelid tutorials, like perhaps a daytime look :D Por favor!

  • I just realized that I have hooded eyes lol! Thx!

  • I have hooded eyes (even more than the model) and this is my favourite vid/advice on hooded eyes I've seen anywhere. I love how my eyes look with this technique. Thank you so much for posting! Now I'm going to go out and show these babies off ; )

  • @allydot1 that's really great to hear, I'm glad you found this video, in addition to some of the others you've seen, helpful :)

  • niiiice.

  • You just made me love artifact paint pot. I am so gonna try it with purples.

  • Perfect! thanks i now understand why i have soooo much trouble putting on mascara. This will be a serious "Note toSelf".. thank you. =+)

  • My eyes are even more hooded than hers and I have a very difficult time applying eyeshadow

  • omg I love these kinds of videos, thank goodness there are makeup artists out there who dont discriminate against hooded eyes lol j/k but thank you! im going to try this right now

  • OMG!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!! And the tip abt the mascara helps!!! I have hooded eyes and this was very imformative. You rock girlie!!!!!

  • Thank UUUUU, I am a hooder and applying eyeshadow is a challange I have yet to conquer!! Luv this video.

  • Thank you! I have such a trouble with eyeshadow because it dosen't always look like I wan't it too, but this helped alot! Never knew I have "hooded eyes" but now I do, so thank you for this helpfull tutorial! :)

  • Very Pretty!

  • her brows are what i dream about!!!! great tut

  • I have hooded lids and I set the brush in my crease and open my eye so it sits in and then I know where to blend or i go slightly below the crease and blend up. This is a pretty look.

  • Honestly, this is the first time I have commented on a Youtube video and I have been subscribing to your videos for about 6 months. This video was sooooo needed. I am getting married and am doing my own makeup, because I feel more confident after having watched your videos. Thanks!

  • i have hooded eyes and its so hard to make the eyeshadow look good..thanks for this tutorial!

  • Hi! I love your vids, and I find them all really helpful! But I have a question, don't you think that lining her waterline with a black eyeliner make her eyes look even smaller? My eye shape is kind of like hers, and I don't line my waterline because of that :S! Great video though! Thank you for all the good advices you're giving us!

  • Thank u sooooo much for this!!!

  • that was absolutely beautiful!

  • I never knew I have hooded eyes until this vid. Thanks I've been watching so many vids and wondering y my looks dnt come out the same. U showed me alot. THANKS ALOT!

  • hi lilpumpkinpie05.... i have hooded-eyes...didnt know that was the term for them but now I know.lol..but i notice that you only used monotone colors for her makeup..is this because of her eye shape..you usually use a lot of colors that compliment each other..this is a nice look but i guess I am wondering should I just stay with one color in different tones like you did with her since I too have hooded eyes? thanks for the tutorial also, I learned something!

  • great tutorial, i also made a vid for hooded eyes because i have hooded eyes myself. ill leave it as a video response. i hope u dont mind xxx

Great tip. Man this was great~

  • @BeautyBombshell09 Me either! I literally just looked at a picture of myself and saw that my eyes are shaped like hers....sad but true!

  • Love this video. Sometimes I wish I didn't have hooded eyes. But my eyelashes are also very curly and in this texas heat (and the fact that I have oily skin) my mascara rubs off on my upper lid even when I set powder or eyeshadows on them. Any tips or products that you can recommend to prevent this?

  • THIS VIDEO WAS MORE THAN HELPFUL *FOR ME* I JUST RECENTLY STARTED GETTING INTO APPLYING MY MAKEUP IN DIFFERENT WAYS. THE ENDING RESULT WAS AMAZING. BUT I ALWAYS FELT THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT I NEEDED TO DO TO MAKE IT BETTER.... I HAVE HOODED EYES/SLANTED EYE SHAPE.... SO WHAT WORKS FOR OTHERS USUALLY WORKS FOR ONE THING AND NOT THE OTHER... BUT HER EYE SHAPE IS SO MUCH SIMILAR & THIS VIDEO DEFINITELY WORKS FOR ME!!!!!!! 2 THUMBS UP!!!!

  • glad u did this I have hooded eyes, been wanting to see a tut on this!

  • I looked you up after seeing Badassplatinums post on her fb page saying that you had a hater(s), and I see why, you are talented, and very informative, they are probably a person who doesnt even have a pic on their channel let alone any videos! I never understood why ppl watch someones vids just to say something negative or dislike the vid when they didn't HAVE to watch in the first place! I like your vids u have gained a new sub!

  • @KissMyBeauty86 thank you and welcome :)

  • Great video very helpful

  • Thank you so much i NEEDED this :)

  • This vid was extremely helpful. Thanks so much for doing it for us!!

  • You did it again! I sometimes struggle with hooded eye application especially on more mature eyes when it becomes more evident. Love the colors you used -- the make-up looks great as usual. I remember when I first found your channel -- I was like "another Nigerian doing makeup? AWESOME!" Keep it coming!

    ~Lo

  • Very cute and educational!

  • The mascara tip was really helpful, the mascara always touches my eyelids and I tought it was my fault. Great video!
