@dragonmantix Sorry, I don't have a forum nor a website for this project. At first I did it only for myself, then decided to share it to get a minimum feedback and a bit of stimulation to help me finish it. Now I'm back to school and have very little time to work on this, so for the time being it is provided as-is. However I'll try to help you if I find some spare time, send me a private message with your errors !
@swarfendor437 Have you downloaded it on the compiz git ? The other link is not available anymore. Check my other video of a updated version, with the correct link…
Small update : I rewrote the plugin from the start to be cleaner and more efficient and be more prepared for future updates. I'll also soon get a git access, yay !
@d5p Check that the png plugin in compiz is enabled, and that you have the files and that they are correct images in ~/.compiz/data. If the images are missing, try fetching them again on SVN (or you can find that kind of image searching google a bit). If that still doesn't work, it's maybe because you have an old or integrated video card that lacks video memory. Try finding smaller texture images (or resizing the ones bundled with the plugin) if that's the case..
@liberiumChan I haven't installed 0.9 yet, and I'm waiting for it to be stable… But as soon as it is I'll port it, and it shouldn't be really difficult, there's not much compiz-related code
@liberiumChan So many people asked me to port it to 0.9 that I decided to make the step and upgrade to 0.9. I'll let you know when the port is made (and I'll try having an access to the compiz git repository so that everybody can find the plugin there with all versions !)

the flickering is because you have a nvidia graphic card, you should disable "allow flipping" in "OpenGL settings"
this will works if you install nvidia drivers as i do.
i use gtk-recordmydesktop to capture the screen.. if it works, let me know ;)
Greetings from Argentina!

All I'm getting is a white globe. skydome.png isn't even showing up.

recordmydesktop really blows, you'd get much better results using ffmpeg.
flussence 6 months ago
@flussence I also tried with ffmpeg but the result wasn't any better… still flickering…
SataMaxx 6 months ago
@SataMaxx Really? That's a shame. Must be something to do with compiz/video drivers...

Thanks SataMaxx!!

Love the idea.. Trying to build it on Ubuntu 10.04, gets "linking:build/libearth.la/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lGLEW
"collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
"make: *** [build/libearth.la] Error 1"
Any idea what I'm missing to cause this error???

@lvsluggo007 Oops, looks like I did a wrong commit somewhere, I'm fixing this right away !

Yes, the flickering is due to the recording, everything is smooth otherwise !
SataMaxx 6 months ago
Yep! That's pretty much what i was thinking about. Very nice! I assume the flickering is due to the video recording right?
