I got my rook pierced a week ago, and like 2 days ago I watched this, and not even a hour later i bought the bactine spray, and like OMG it feels so much better and now I love you cuz your a life saver!! Lmfao
@123DanielleM yeah, the sprays are pre-mixed saline solutions. but i personally like to do the soaks instead of the sprays, i think soaking lets the salt water get deep in and around the piercing, instead of a spray that you might totally miss your target!
I got my rook pierced two weeks ago, I LOVE IT! your videos about rook piercings totally helped me! But, you said your rook piercing got really swollen and it hurt alot after day 5. Mine never swelled up, and it barely hurts, even when i sleep on it....Is it supposed to hurt and get swollen like how you said?
first ur the most helpful person on yt:) I was scared to get my rook done but now I'm just exited!:) but was it rlly painful? I heard it was no worse than a helix and I hve 3 of those , what would u compare it to?
@ilovemusic17country its just a little bit worse than a regular helix, just a LITTLE though! cuz it's thicker. but its super easy and def one of my favorite piercings ever!!
hey urs looks amazing. ive had mine for about 3 months now and i think im getting hetrotrophic scarring or whayever its called. but i wanna switch the the barbell and i cannot take off the balls to save my life! like i tried everything: gloves, extra dry hands, tweezers. and my piercer is very far so i don't wanna go too far so any tips on how to take off the balls? and im not good with measurements so how much sea salt (in teaspoons) shud be used? thanks so much :)
@sodamnclassic my rook literally just pulls apart. i put one hand on the bottom jewel and one on the top and pull in opposite directions.. however, i believe 3 months is way too soon to change it, especially if you have a bump/bubble. watch my video on how to remove those keloid bumps. also, 1/4 of a teaspoon is essentially just a pinch... you don't need that much.
I have a quick question, since I am considering getting both of my rook's done at the same time, do you have any tips on how to lessen damage done to them while sleeping?
@LenaSkyheart try to sleep on your back if you can... however the rook is so tucked in there it really doesnt affect sleeping too much :) just try to keep hair products out of them!
I have a rook piercing and I have a mazor problem changing it! Every time the ball that connects the piercing falls out I have to go back to my piercer to put it back. Is there a tip on how can I take it out and put it back again?
ps: The size of the piercing is not too small, I already thought about it:)
@BrandedDiamond im not good with those balls, i would say change it to a bar, theyre much easier!! or if you have a bar, just check it every day and push it down in there yourself to make sure it's nice and tight. OR try changing to a small hoop!
I've had mine done for over 6 months now and never had a problem until this morning. I don't know WHAT I did because I wasn't touching it or bumped it or anything - but my whole ear is red and swollen. Not just the area around the rook. I slept on it? But that's all I can think of. A couple weeks ago I watched your video about your industrial piercing and now I'm super paranoid haha. Do you have any tips on what I should do?
@DISCL0SE my rook has flare ups too.... just clean it gently once a day, change your pillow cases... try sleeping on the opposite side and it should get better in a couple days. sometimes sleeping on it just causes a lot of pressure and can irritate it
@giatoonoma you dont need to clean it that much. do either 2 sea salt soaks, or one sea salt, one betadine at opposite times of the day. make sure youre changing your pillow cases once a week and keeping hair products out of it.
@OFFiiCiiALLYKENDRA there is no way a rook is healed in 3 weeks.... rooks take about 3 months to heal at the minimum. mine still wasn't healed til about 4 months and still has ups and downs. i would wait til at least 2 months if i were you but that might be pushing it too. i havent changed mine because i like the jewelry i was pierced with
I'm so glad you talked about the swelling starting on day 3-5! My rook didn't hurt when I got it done, days later it still didn't hurt, and I too was like "this rocks!" I woke up on day 5 and my ear was on fire! It was so swollen and my ear felt like it was throbbing! Right now I am just taking ibuprofen, which helps a lot. I do have a question though. I was told by my piercer not to use anything like antibiotic spray, creams etc. It really didn't irritate your piercing?
@ceciliabatta the bactine seemed to help me but a few people have said not to use it.... just keep sea salt soaking and if you have an antibacterial soap, use that once a day in the shower as well! it gets better :)
Can you do this method for a conch piercing as well? Right now I'm using the H2Ocean spray twice a day, but my piercing is throbbing quite a bit. I'm wondering if the warm water will soothe it a bit.
@andlee11 my piercing (conch) is throbbing too... it hurt ssooo bad. my piercer told me twice a day is too much salt! So stick to once a day with your sea salt soaks/sprays...and once in the shower with an antibacterial soap. ive been loading up on ibuprofen to keep swelling down... its not working but my piercer said the pain should go down over the next week (im on day 7 now)
@KinKiNiKKi4 Oh I didn't think even twice a day was too much! Okay I'll try the once a day then. The last time I cleaned it the barbell moved a bit and it got aggravated thats when it started to throb. I'm too scared to try and adjust it again cause they told me not to touch it at all. I've definitely been taking some Advil, which luckily seems to help for now :) Thanks for your help!!
Hi, got my rook pierced yesterday, yaay! Love it:) Just want to ask, did you use the soap on it straight away or use it after a week or so? Can't remember what my piercer told me! My soap isn't medicated, just a Carex antibacterial one..not sure if that make a difference :S & I do shower daily so should i clean it when i wake up or after the shower? Any advice would be good! All your ear piercings look great btw! Especially the conch! :)
@Cymraes95 i use the soap once a day in the shower, it makes it easier to lather it good on your ear and thouroughly rinse it off. as long as your soap isnt scented or have any artificial dyes and stuff in it, it should be ok....
@xMarina234x it's just like any regular cartilage piercing... it has it's ups and downs and ouchies and crust and pus.... but thats why you gotta clean it 2-3 times a day! to make it heal properly and faster
i got my rook pierced about 9 days ago and everything was going good till yesterday, the area is so swollen and the whole top of my hear is red and kinda hurts, and it hurts when i go to clean it and stuff. i have my tragus and stuff pierced so i know its normal to swell, and once i take advil the pain goes away, but it still so red and hurts when i clean it, and i feel like its really swollen it almost looks like i dont have a rook anymore lol, is that normal till its still kinda new??
That's weird mine didn't swell at all only the first day :p my piercer had given me this ointment or salve that I had to swab around my piercing for about a week and that helped getting the crust removed in a gentle way.
thanks for the cleaning tips! just a quick question and its gonna sound pretty naff but i got mine done like 3 or 4 days ago and i got a ring i mean it's still pretty sore to slightly move
i have a shower every morning (but i don't wash my hair everyday so some mornings the water doesn't flow through my piercing) on those days no matter how hard (pain i can tolerate) whilst cleaning my piercing i cant seem to get this kinda blacky/reddy dried crust off the piercing entrance holes, any tips?
@WatsonBabes you probably have a small keloid/bump and the dried blood is there... try not to scrub it or pick at it... i get the dried crust but the more you pick the more likely you are to bleed. do you have Bactine? it's antiseptic spray you can find in the band aid aisle... i spray it on my piercing then take a qtip and gentle wipe away crust.
@xbuhlairmuhreyyx i always get pierced with jewelry i know im going to keep in for that reason... thus, i dont plan on changing my rook or tragus.. i love the diamond studs i have in! i'm sorry!
So, I've had my rook for 13 months, and the past 10 or so months I haven't been able to move the bar at all, like my piercing is 'stuck'. Is this a problem and should I go to a piercer about it? And when I mean stuck I mean if i wanted to remove it to change it, I couldn't.
@theAMFE very strange. does it have any crust? have you tried to rinse it off in the shower with warm water and wiggle it around then? mine gets stuck overnight when i wake up and it has lots of crusties. i would definitely ask a piercer about that though.
@KinKiNiKKi4 It doesn't have any crust, I clean it regularly using seasalt soaks and bactine. I take the gooey stuff off with a q-tip. It get aggravated a lot, and usually pretty badly. Like I'm unable to flip the top of my ear down if that makes sense because its pretty tender.
and I do rinse it in the shower to make sure there isn't any shampoo or anything on it hurting it.
And everyone else I've asked said it didn't matter that i can't move it, but its just not right. But thanks! :)
@theAMFE hopefully they didnt pierce through a vein or anything, thats all i can think of.. unless they just pierced you with an extremely short barbell instead of a longer one ... ask a professional piercer please!
I could not agree more with what you said about Bactine. I use it to clean my piercings, and it feels especially amazing on newly piercing and swollen ones. The sea salt soaks seemed to irritate mine, but when I switched to just Bactine, it was better. I love your vids. :)
I couldn't feel anything when I had it done, until I went in the cold air and it was fine for about a week and then the pain and swelling came. I've had it done about 6 months and it's fine but it flares up every now and again. I just use some saline and it's fine. Still can't change it though!
i really want this piercing but i read that rooks get random flare ups. do they? and once their fully healed do they stop flaring up? a piercing infection is the worst and i dont wanna deal with it!
@xsophiia mine was fine for the first 4 days, then day 5-- BAM!! it swelled up and hurt super bad. But Advil takes care of that! the swelling probably lasted for a solid 4 days, then would come and go in waves. I have to say, 3 months later it's totally healed and i havent had any flare ups! It's very worth it :)
i got mine done yesterday, it hurt after. it was fine all day today unless i touch it, but when i tried to clean it with a cotton tip its started to hurt again. oh well. its worth the pain!! didnt really hurt when getting it pierced
@shazzawoot mine took 3 months to FULLY heal, though it started hurting on day 5 and lasted for 2 weeks. then it was on and off for about 2 months. it's finally healed though, no pain or swelling! just keep cleaning it and if it starts to hurt or swell, take an advil or ibuprofen
@maddeh11 at most studios, yes! my jeweler gives me the choice of hoops or barbells, and the barbell choices come in 10 different colored of jewels! i always get the clear diamond ones though! but certain studios are different :\
i went to have mine done today, and im from the uk..but my piercer told me not to use salt water as it makes it worse! so she just said use warm water, but i dunno wether that will do anything!? and also can you buy any of those things you were talking about in the u.k? because my tragus has got a keloid at the minute and nothing i do seems to be working, plus i dont want my roook doing the same! x
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee do a video on how to change it out (: I got mine about a week ago and i absolutely LOVE IT. I can move it, clean it and everything! Yes it's sore, but definitely bearable. (:
Hey :) ive had my rook for like, maybe 1 and a half, maybe nearly 2 months? and it is still soooooo swollen and so sore, i put a ring in it, to get more air flow to it, now i just changed back to the normal bar bell.. ive been doing sea salt soaks, and using spray, and nothing is working.maybe its just healing REALLY slow, but i have no idea wats going on with it, its starting to piss me off. lol if u can help it'd be really good. ( i live in australia, and half the stuff u guys have we dont) :/
@Armywife1604 mine has flare ups about once a week and ive had it for 2 months now. those kind of piercings can take up to 6 months to heal!! as long as youre cleaning it with the sea salt soaks, it should be clean but sometimes they just get irritated from sleeping. do you change your pillow cases once a week? my advice is if it hurts you or is swollen take some Ibuprofen pills, it reduces pain and swelling.
@KinKiNiKKi4 how do I convince my mom to let me get my rook pierced? Im turning 15 soon and already have my nose pierced and tripple holes. I know my using name is dum but I made one just to ask you lol! Your awesome, I love your videos! Please help :)
@TheMrkoolcat just show her the video of me getting mine done! you can find it on my main page. that way she sees 'normal' people get them, not just crazy piercing freaks (as most parents think)... it's an easy piercing and you can tell her that it's tucked so far in your ear most people cant see it, and you already have your nose which everyone can see. piercings are not tattoos, they can always be taken out!
@KinKiNikki4 thisis day 3 for me and it was DEFFINATELY the hardest. my ear is soooooo sore right now. and on the first night i got it and cleaned it before i went to bed i cried because it was so sore. but the inital piercing wasnt bad at all. and im a HUGE baby when it comes to needles and pain.
@ KinKiNikki4 ... I finally got the guts to ask my dad about my rook aaaaaaaaaandddd!. IM most likely GETTING IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!! He said hes not sure what it is but he aaid probably he is going to talk to my mom soo fingers crossed that i can!!
@madisonNW25 you should show them the video of me getting it done on here so they see that "normal" girls can get piercings without being "freaky goth piercing freaks" like some parents think!
@KinKiNiKKi4 i did that!! haha and i also threw in the report carrd, and the making cheerleadinng, and getting first chair in band so that means i play the best out of my section and also the occasional "here dad ill get it for you" haha so im pretty confident about it.FINGERS CROSSED!!!! and how much did u pay for yours? at tghe piercing place i looked at the guys said it would be $30-$40
@madisonNW25 the actual piercing was 25 and then the jewlery ranges from 25-55 depending on what you choose (plain, jeweled, gold, etc)... i think i spent 60 after all said and done!
omggg soo i really want this but im gonna really have to persuade my mom bc i already have 4 sets of lobes and a helix, but i'm thinking one more will balance it out..right?(: lol you're like the big sis i never had(:
@notandre15 as long as it's not in a dirty lake or anything you should be ok but definitely clean it ASAP after you get out of the water. chlorine isnt good for it!
Hey Nikki :) I got my rook done on June 18th and it's still swollen and sore. Is that normal?I have been cleaning it with dial soap twice a day and occasinally doing a sea salt soak. I have a ring in for the jewelery and lately I have been turning the ring around in my ear when I'm cleaning it. Is that bad?? Thanks so much for the video:) btw think about getting your conch done next;)
@xcookiemonsterlover they're not! actually any cartilage can take up to a year to heal versus tongue, belly button, etc which may only take 3-6 months. not to mentions ears are so close to your brain, theyre dangerous in the fact that theyre prone to infection which can easier spread to your brain (thats what almost happened with my industrial piercing). ear lobes are the only easy things about ears because essentially theyre just flaps of skin :p
i'm definitely going to have to try this, i have the hoop which is just always irritating the healing process (i have to go somewhere to get the bar and switch it out) and i've just been using saline solution cause i can't actually use the sea-salt cleaner that the piercing places recommend. the saline and then hot water have been working for the past 3 months, but it still sometimes hurts like hell when i try to sleep on that side.
@xolarisxo like i said, mine still kills on certain days when i wake up... are you still cleaning it? do you use sea salt to clean it? have you changed your pillowcases frequently? also, try to take an advil if it's really throbbing. ive had mine almost 3 months and about once a week it hurts really bad. it's just a piercing with an attitude problem, they can take up to a YEAR to heal fully (same with industrials)... hang in there!
hey nikki! i've been following your reccomendations (spelling?) on the tragus keloid. i've been doing sea salt soaks once a day, cleaning it with water like my piercer said, and putting tea tree oil on it once a day, inside and out. It looked like the outside is getting better, but it still looks terrible and the inside doesn't seem to have improved. any suggestions? also, how long on average would you say i continue my regime?
@peacelovechef the tea tree oil takes like 2-4 weeks for the bumps to be gone. not sure if i mentioned to replace/wash/change your pillow cases and avoid hair products and playing with the tragus ring itself (dont wiggle it unless cleaning and even then be careful)... keep trying to TToil for another week and if nothing else, you can call/ go to your piercer. but if it doesnt hurt and it's not oozing pus, it's not infected so dont worry!
@KinKiNiKKi4 thanks nikki! i was worried it's never gonna go away, but i'll stick with the cleaning regime you recommended. if it's not good by the end of july, i think i'm gonna go to my piercer and see what's up. If i got it pierced on june 11th, should i be okay to change it to a stud in a few days since the ring is really irritating it?

@xbuhlairmuhreyyx i always get pierced with jewelry i know im going to keep in for that reason... thus, i dont plan on changing my rook or tragus.. i love the diamond studs i have in! i'm sorry!

So, I've had my rook for 13 months, and the past 10 or so months I haven't been able to move the bar at all, like my piercing is 'stuck'. Is this a problem and should I go to a piercer about it? And when I mean stuck I mean if i wanted to remove it to change it, I couldn't.
Thanks to anyone who answers!
theAMFE 6 months ago
@theAMFE very strange. does it have any crust? have you tried to rinse it off in the shower with warm water and wiggle it around then? mine gets stuck overnight when i wake up and it has lots of crusties. i would definitely ask a piercer about that though.
KinKiNiKKi4 6 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 It doesn't have any crust, I clean it regularly using seasalt soaks and bactine. I take the gooey stuff off with a q-tip. It get aggravated a lot, and usually pretty badly. Like I'm unable to flip the top of my ear down if that makes sense because its pretty tender.
and I do rinse it in the shower to make sure there isn't any shampoo or anything on it hurting it.
And everyone else I've asked said it didn't matter that i can't move it, but its just not right. But thanks! :)
theAMFE 6 months ago
@theAMFE hopefully they didnt pierce through a vein or anything, thats all i can think of.. unless they just pierced you with an extremely short barbell instead of a longer one ... ask a professional piercer please!
KinKiNiKKi4 6 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 thanks a lot for your advice, and I will.
theAMFE 6 months ago
I could not agree more with what you said about Bactine. I use it to clean my piercings, and it feels especially amazing on newly piercing and swollen ones. The sea salt soaks seemed to irritate mine, but when I switched to just Bactine, it was better. I love your vids. :)
XxSimplyPsychoxX 6 months ago
I couldn't feel anything when I had it done, until I went in the cold air and it was fine for about a week and then the pain and swelling came. I've had it done about 6 months and it's fine but it flares up every now and again. I just use some saline and it's fine. Still can't change it though!
wishious 6 months ago
i really want this piercing but i read that rooks get random flare ups. do they? and once their fully healed do they stop flaring up? a piercing infection is the worst and i dont wanna deal with it!
xsophiia 6 months ago
@xsophiia mine was fine for the first 4 days, then day 5-- BAM!! it swelled up and hurt super bad. But Advil takes care of that! the swelling probably lasted for a solid 4 days, then would come and go in waves. I have to say, 3 months later it's totally healed and i havent had any flare ups! It's very worth it :)
KinKiNiKKi4 6 months ago
i got mine done yesterday, it hurt after. it was fine all day today unless i touch it, but when i tried to clean it with a cotton tip its started to hurt again. oh well. its worth the pain!! didnt really hurt when getting it pierced
maddeh11 6 months ago
it has been 5 days for me too, and my rook has just begun to hurt... i thought that i was lucky lol
sugardancingstar 6 months ago
how long does it take to heal i got one today it hurt bad to get it pierced
shazzawoot 6 months ago
@shazzawoot mine took 3 months to FULLY heal, though it started hurting on day 5 and lasted for 2 weeks. then it was on and off for about 2 months. it's finally healed though, no pain or swelling! just keep cleaning it and if it starts to hurt or swell, take an advil or ibuprofen
KinKiNiKKi4 6 months ago
when you get it pierced, can you choose what jewelrey they use? coz im getting it done soon and i dont want a ring in it
maddeh11 6 months ago
@maddeh11 at most studios, yes! my jeweler gives me the choice of hoops or barbells, and the barbell choices come in 10 different colored of jewels! i always get the clear diamond ones though! but certain studios are different :\
KinKiNiKKi4 6 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 ok thankyou :) makes me feel better now. didnt want a hoop in for like 4 months
maddeh11 6 months ago
i went to have mine done today, and im from the uk..but my piercer told me not to use salt water as it makes it worse! so she just said use warm water, but i dunno wether that will do anything!? and also can you buy any of those things you were talking about in the u.k? because my tragus has got a keloid at the minute and nothing i do seems to be working, plus i dont want my roook doing the same! x
Katie7800 7 months ago
what did you use to clean your belly button piercing? I know it was a while ago but if you remember let me know!
ccasgrell 7 months ago
@ccasgrell same things! sea salt soaks, twice a day for 5-10 minutes and an antibacterial soap like Provon or Satin while in the shower.
KinKiNiKKi4 7 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 thanks! and do you remember how long you waited to change it? and also your tragus?
ccasgrell 7 months ago
@ccasgrell i got pierced with jewelry i knew i would want to keep so i havent changed either yet, but i think the rule is 4-6 months

KinKiNiKKi4 7 months ago
Hey :) ive had my rook for like, maybe 1 and a half, maybe nearly 2 months? and it is still soooooo swollen and so sore, i put a ring in it, to get more air flow to it, now i just changed back to the normal bar bell.. ive been doing sea salt soaks, and using spray, and nothing is working.maybe its just healing REALLY slow, but i have no idea wats going on with it, its starting to piss me off. lol if u can help it'd be really good. ( i live in australia, and half the stuff u guys have we dont) :/
Armywife1604 7 months ago
@Armywife1604 mine has flare ups about once a week and ive had it for 2 months now. those kind of piercings can take up to 6 months to heal!! as long as youre cleaning it with the sea salt soaks, it should be clean but sometimes they just get irritated from sleeping. do you change your pillow cases once a week? my advice is if it hurts you or is swollen take some Ibuprofen pills, it reduces pain and swelling.
KinKiNiKKi4 7 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 how do I convince my mom to let me get my rook pierced? Im turning 15 soon and already have my nose pierced and tripple holes. I know my using name is dum but I made one just to ask you lol! Your awesome, I love your videos! Please help :)
TheMrkoolcat 7 months ago
@TheMrkoolcat just show her the video of me getting mine done! you can find it on my main page. that way she sees 'normal' people get them, not just crazy piercing freaks (as most parents think)... it's an easy piercing and you can tell her that it's tucked so far in your ear most people cant see it, and you already have your nose which everyone can see. piercings are not tattoos, they can always be taken out!
KinKiNiKKi4 7 months ago
@KinKiNikki4 thisis day 3 for me and it was DEFFINATELY the hardest. my ear is soooooo sore right now. and on the first night i got it and cleaned it before i went to bed i cried because it was so sore. but the inital piercing wasnt bad at all. and im a HUGE baby when it comes to needles and pain.
madisonNW25 7 months ago
@KinKiNikki4 ... i gotit dne fiday:) it didnt hurt at ALL and i loove it. :)
madisonNW25 7 months ago
@madisonNW25 yayyyy i knew you would love it!
KinKiNiKKi4 7 months ago
do you put the bactine spray on your tragus??
caylieS15 8 months ago
@caylieS15 yes but i put a qtip in my ear before i spray the back of it, otherwise the spray will go right into your ear and will hurt really bad!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
@ KinKiNikki4 ... I finally got the guts to ask my dad about my rook aaaaaaaaaandddd!. IM most likely GETTING IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!! He said hes not sure what it is but he aaid probably he is going to talk to my mom soo fingers crossed that i can!!
madisonNW25 8 months ago
@madisonNW25 you should show them the video of me getting it done on here so they see that "normal" girls can get piercings without being "freaky goth piercing freaks" like some parents think!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 i did that!! haha and i also threw in the report carrd, and the making cheerleadinng, and getting first chair in band so that means i play the best out of my section and also the occasional "here dad ill get it for you" haha so im pretty confident about it.FINGERS CROSSED!!!! and how much did u pay for yours? at tghe piercing place i looked at the guys said it would be $30-$40
madisonNW25 8 months ago
@madisonNW25 the actual piercing was 25 and then the jewlery ranges from 25-55 depending on what you choose (plain, jeweled, gold, etc)... i think i spent 60 after all said and done!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
omggg soo i really want this but im gonna really have to persuade my mom bc i already have 4 sets of lobes and a helix, but i'm thinking one more will balance it out..right?(: lol you're like the big sis i never had(:

KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
Oh and is it okay to go swimming??
notandre15 8 months ago
@notandre15 as long as it's not in a dirty lake or anything you should be ok but definitely clean it ASAP after you get out of the water. chlorine isnt good for it!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
Hey Nikki :) I got my rook done on June 18th and it's still swollen and sore. Is that normal?I have been cleaning it with dial soap twice a day and occasinally doing a sea salt soak. I have a ring in for the jewelery and lately I have been turning the ring around in my ear when I'm cleaning it. Is that bad?? Thanks so much for the video:) btw think about getting your conch done next;)
notandre15 8 months ago
@notandre15 defintiely do NOT turn your hoop! that will cause bubbles/keloids and a lot of pain, thats probably why it's taken longer to heal.
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
So does the piercing actually go in the water or is it just over it? x
AmyBethBakerx 8 months ago
@AmyBethBakerx your ear will be completely submerged in water
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
heyy nikki guess whatt :))
madisonNW25 8 months ago
@madisonNW25 what!!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
why is ears etc so easier to cure than all the rest
xcookiemonsterlover 8 months ago
@xcookiemonsterlover they're not! actually any cartilage can take up to a year to heal versus tongue, belly button, etc which may only take 3-6 months. not to mentions ears are so close to your brain, theyre dangerous in the fact that theyre prone to infection which can easier spread to your brain (thats what almost happened with my industrial piercing). ear lobes are the only easy things about ears because essentially theyre just flaps of skin :p
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
i'm definitely going to have to try this, i have the hoop which is just always irritating the healing process (i have to go somewhere to get the bar and switch it out) and i've just been using saline solution cause i can't actually use the sea-salt cleaner that the piercing places recommend. the saline and then hot water have been working for the past 3 months, but it still sometimes hurts like hell when i try to sleep on that side.

i have had my rook pierced for like 2 weeks now and it still kills.. when does it stop hurting.
xolarisxo 8 months ago
@xolarisxo like i said, mine still kills on certain days when i wake up... are you still cleaning it? do you use sea salt to clean it? have you changed your pillowcases frequently? also, try to take an advil if it's really throbbing. ive had mine almost 3 months and about once a week it hurts really bad. it's just a piercing with an attitude problem, they can take up to a YEAR to heal fully (same with industrials)... hang in there!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
hey nikki! i've been following your reccomendations (spelling?) on the tragus keloid. i've been doing sea salt soaks once a day, cleaning it with water like my piercer said, and putting tea tree oil on it once a day, inside and out. It looked like the outside is getting better, but it still looks terrible and the inside doesn't seem to have improved. any suggestions? also, how long on average would you say i continue my regime?
peacelovechef 8 months ago
@peacelovechef the tea tree oil takes like 2-4 weeks for the bumps to be gone. not sure if i mentioned to replace/wash/change your pillow cases and avoid hair products and playing with the tragus ring itself (dont wiggle it unless cleaning and even then be careful)... keep trying to TToil for another week and if nothing else, you can call/ go to your piercer. but if it doesnt hurt and it's not oozing pus, it's not infected so dont worry!
KinKiNiKKi4 8 months ago
@KinKiNiKKi4 thanks nikki! i was worried it's never gonna go away, but i'll stick with the cleaning regime you recommended. if it's not good by the end of july, i think i'm gonna go to my piercer and see what's up. If i got it pierced on june 11th, should i be okay to change it to a stud in a few days since the ring is really irritating it?
peacelovechef 8 months ago
