  • Choosing your child's religion for her is a great idea. I am all for limiting a child's freedom of choice & belief. Get them while they're young; this way, they don't deviate into free-thinking....DANGEROUS!

    Archaic, meaningless, & stupid tradition.

  • @SoberAllmanBrosFan I do not want to be rude or anything but this is nothing. This is no circumcision and there is no blood. They do not even put the entire child in a bucket like they do in Greece. It is just a couple splashes of water on the kids head. If you really want be "brave" an critize religion and go for the Jews - but I guess you will not do that because you are afraid of them because they will fight you back. Instead you fight with friendly catholics. Im an atheist by the way.

  • @ZimmermanHound Oh, I see! Because it's not as bad as something else, it is not bad at all! If not a Jewish ritual, then not bad. Rapture! Your logic is superb! What is your point, exactly? Randomly criticize irrelevant subjects (Jewish ritual) in response to a very specific topic (baptism)? And why would you make such an insipid assumption? I criticize the archaic jewish faith, which is inextricably tied to Catholicism. but this is a baptism, you fucking simpleton.

  • @SoberAllmanBrosFan My logical is not build on the argument that something is "more worse". So long noone gets physically hurt and this kid can convert or become an atheist when he is older. Or do you want ban Christmas to or any kind of tradition because children may be socialized to adopt them? Im okay with religion so long it is not built on hurting people physically and Im also okay with some kind of communitaraism, if it is built on liberal principles.

  • @SoberAllmanBrosFan What I do not like with your radical atheist individual anarchism bull shit is that you NEVER attack Jewish nor Islamic faith, both that are aggressive faiths. Judaism is even an ethno-religion and ethno-nationalism religion. If you even try to raise your voice against circumcision the jewish media (pretty much all the big media-corporations) will brand you an anti-semite and they your career is over.

  • @ZimmermanHound You are either young & lack yet-to-be learned critical thinking skills or you are older & ignorant. You reply to me, on my comment against baptism, yet you attack an irrelevant topic, such as Judaism. Why can't you stay focused on one issue? Why must you, fallaciously, curb the current topic & opt, instead, to present unrelated arguments? That's strange. You don't know y opinion on Judaism or circumcision, in general. Save you Judaism posts for Judaism-focused pages.

  • @SoberAllmanBrosFan I got your point and in some sense you are correct. What other people do in other religions has nothing to do with your criticism of catholic baptism. Im sorry for changing the topics and argueing wrongly.

  • @johnochoa1991 Adam and Eve blatantly disobeyed God, so He closed the gates of Heaven. The original sin which we inherit from them prevents us from having friendship with God. If the parents make the decision to have their child baptized, it's because as Catholic parents it's their obligation to. If the child is brought up unbaptized, who's to say they will take the initiative to be baptized. If they know that they are, they'll know they must be servants of the Lord. I don't know what I would h

  • @mehappy777 Well, It is just some splashes of water. That is the good thing with the catholic faith. A catholic baptism is a very friendly thing. It does not hurt anyone - but circumcision is another thing - because that involves hurting the child. I do not get why atheist attack catholics when the jewish, african and muslims religions traditions actually hurt the child and involves blood and lost tissue - but these atheists never fight them, just the christian traditions of splashing water..

  • i don't beleave in baby baptism.. because how dose a baby have sin if it dosen't know right or wrong.. just like adam and even didn't sin till they ate from the tree of knowlege of evil and wrong... Baptism should be when someone can recognize they have sin........................................................

  • Apparently I had a solid foundation in my faith, started out Catholic, pulled away from the church to grow more spiritually, and back to the Catholic Church. Why do ppl comment negatively on here, when it's really a family thing...huh?

  • A beautiful ceremony, and beautiful baby...congrats and excited to baptize ours tomorrow..

  • As a lover of God, Mr. Atheist, you realize that this is a special ceremony so you have no idea how this goes..

  • As An Atheist..im against Forcing a Child to become something they have no knowledge of..tisk tisk

  • awww so adorable!

  • Im not to criticize the Catholic church, but wouldn't the Baptist church, be with the Greek Orthodox, and the Catholic church? Why would it be Protestant, or even Calvinism, or Arminianism? Catholicism has baptism in it, and so do Baptist. Never in my life have I seen a baptism tub in Protestant, Apostolic church.

  • what a disgusting thing to do to a child......let them grow up free of stupid religion and when they get to be 21 years old let THEM make up their own mind..!!!

  • baby baptism is wishfull thinking on behalf of parents who choose to put their faith in man and not take the time to actually read what their bible says about baptism

  • My religion we baptise at the age of 8

  • @sjpete99jr ,,,,and you think age 8 is adequate to make life changing decisions??? get your head examined and get down to earth !!

  • @1marceltony do u even know wat religion i am?

  • ? Umm how would they baptist a twelve yr old? I am considering it and I was wondering how it might happen... Wow if I do I would be baptized and confermed in the same year!!

  • @tortugachica123 they would get baptised in a river or a bath thing, it's called an adult baptisem.

Most a Anglicans do it this way but lately its been converting to child baptism. i think.

Stupid American translator. (needs an English option)

  • How would they baptize (sp?) a 12 year old. I am considering becoming a part of the catholic faith and I was wondering how it would be done. Isn't it at Easter vigil? Or at least where I am I think it is...

  • @tortugachica123 Yes, it will be during the Easter Vigil. You'll go through a training and seeming you're twelve they'll probably walk you through all that you'll do. Perhaps talk to a priest in the Parish you're thinking about joining and he'll help you. I'm excited for you that you're thinking of becoming a part of the Catholic Church! If you have any other questions feel free to ask C:

  • @tortugachica123 DONt be a FOOL !!

  • what a cute baby

  • If I was the owner of this channel, I would block comments.

  • @loriloristuff glad your NOT...dink head

  • Amazingly Beautiful God Bless !!!!

  • This is ridiculous, no Christian would say an infant has everlasting life because their parent has chosen to get them baptised, that baby has not taken Christ as her Lord and Saviour and until she does that baptism means nothing. A child born to believers is protected under the parents faith, baptism is a choice a believer makes when they give their life to Jesus. We all have original sin until we choose for ourselves to ask for forgiveness.

  • @cute799 I don't think you understand how Catholic religion works. Baptism for Catholics is when you choose to raise your child in faith and foster their beliefs. Then they go through another initiation stage at First Communion and when they're older they go through Confirmation. It's just a longer process for Catholics in being fully initiated, and they don't necessarily believe in being 'saved' (@Mcstroke57), that's an Evangelical viewpoint. Christian denominations do differ, so get over it

  • @slmabr First of all there is no such thing as a 'Catholic religion', Catholics are a deomination of Christianity. 'Baptism for Catholics is when you choose to raise your child in faith and foster their beliefs.' Every Christian wants to raise their child in faith, for example we have a dedication service. I would be very worried if a Catholic, or any Christian, said they didn't believe in being saved.

  • @slmabr the point of being a Christian is that you have taken Christ as your Saviour. Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptised will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.'' "See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptised?" Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." He commanded the chariot to stand still. Both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and baptised him.

  • @cute799 Amen that is right!

  • Shut the frap up, folks. It's not your kid.

  • Don't baptize children, they have no choice. Let them decide.

  • what do you call a mexican baby being baptized? bean dip!

  • For years and years I did not think infants should be Baptized until I realized - GOD does the Baptism and the sooner they are marked for HIM - the better. We limit what GOD is doing. Man does nothing but be obedient and this little one will go forward to the Altar all of her life - daily - to receive Jesus. I understand the negative comments as I might not have said them a lot but I thought them. Everything is about GOD not man.

  • No child can answer for its sin or repent, a child has not understanding where is this in the bible. I thought this way was correct to until i knew better. This sprinking of water was originally for the sick who could not undertake full emersion - read the word

  • @Fragrancelily1 lol full emersion with the head underwater is the true baptism. You go under and you come up reborn intoo the body of christ. Catholics seem to not be scriptual. Whats the earliest age a person can recieve the baptism of the holy spirit

  • Infant baptism is not biblical

  • @Mcstroke57 So what.

  • @peadarrock12 so it means that the baby is not saved.

  • @Mcstroke57 I don't think it makes a if its a baby being baptised, or a teenager, or a full grown adult.

  • beautiful baptism btw!! God bless her!

  • What is the role of the father during the christening?

  • She has to go back to water after she's old enough to repent. Congratz on your new daughter

Gino Jennings - 1/2 Baptism name of Jesus Christ #605

  • the baby was adoreable, but i have to say, one thing, infant baptism may be catholics belief, but to a Christian Baptist as i, its "unbibical" why i say that. Infant baptism is the origin of the sprinkling and pouring methods of baptism as it is unwise and unsafe to immerse an infant under water. Even the method of infant baptism fails to agree with the Bible. How does pouring or sprinkling illustrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ?

    I am Christian Baptist!

  • @JeremyLinski Where exactly does it say in the Bible only full immersion baptisms are valid? Some of the earliest Christian writings, dating as far back as 70 AD, describe not only infant baptisms but non-immersion ones as well. Not to mention the fact that there would be no New Testament for you to berate us with without the Catholic Church!

  • @iamcupcakeable how about suck a DICK... you pussy

  • @JeremyLinski Wow, you sure are a Christian, aren't you? Insults are the last refuge of the ignorant

  • @iamcupcakeable i dont have to give account to you!!

  • @iamcupcakeable I say this in the kindest way possible.......whith out Christ , there would be no New Testament. 70 AD is way past the point of comparison, Jesus was gone, the Disciples were martyred, and the churches were morphing into the anti-church. if it isnt in the bible than it isnt true, from baptism to praying to humans as a god (i.e.mary), the priest cant absolve you of anything, nor can he raise you from the dead. The pope is a man made position. Please study the bible. .Please

  • @im4u2bs2 Kindly, every book of the NT was written 10 years before or several decades after 70 AD. Additionally, the people who chose which writings would be included and which wouldn't for every Bible in existence were Catholics at the Synod of Hippo in the 4th c. As to the rest of it, baptism is in the Bible. 1 Peter 3:21 Catholics do not pray to Mary. Priests can absolve sins. John20:22-23 The pope is a Christ-made position handed down from Peter. Mt16:18-19 Please study history.

  • @im4u2bs2 ok... let us see.... IN THE BIBLE... Jesus said:" I give you the power to forgive sins... whatever you forgive shall be forgiven in heaven, whatever you hold shall be held in heaven." AAAAAH THE POPE ATE MY BABY!!! oh grow up!!

  • My daughter us being baptized this weekend! We went to the pre-baptismal class but this video was so much more helpful! Thanks. I just have one question, my priest said at one point they will ask us what name we give her. Do I have to pick a Saint's name? or do I just say her name? I was a bit confused, but since my baby was acting up at the meeting I couldnt ask! Thanks again!

  • You are supposed to baptize in the NAME, not of the title. Jesus is the son's name.

  • This video is AMAZING. for those of you that are against Catholics or don't like this, then here's an answer, DON"T watch it. It's that simple.

p.s. your child is beautiful and i'm glad she is my sister in christ.

  • This is wonderful. Your priest did a wonderful job describing the Sacrament. I am planning on showing this video in my Sophomore Sacraments class.

  • Bless her--what a beautiful child!

  • Baptism of infants is absolutely against Scripture! this video is disgusting! What do Catholics know about the Holy Spirit when they do not follow Scripture?!

  • @MenechemShaul I am Jewish and you do not know a damn thing about Judaism or the Word of God! Oil was used to anoint the Messiah (anointed one, the King of Israel) and the Cohen ha gadol (The high priest). in the New Covenant Jesus anoints us with the holy Spirit when we become born again, this is called baptism of the Holy Spirit. The baptism that John the Baptist, cousin of Jesus spoke of! We are to Baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but not infants!

  • @MenechemShaul Infant baptism is like the New Testament form of circumcision in the Jewish covenant Circumcision did not create faith in the 8-day-old Jewish boy. It merely marked him as a member of God's covenant people Israel. Likewise, baptism doesn’t create faith; it is a sign of membership in the visible covenant community.

  • MenechemShaul

    Just a couple of corrections.

The Hebrew term is more properly spelled Kohen ha gadol or in Hebrew, כהן גדול

Cohen is the proper name that arises out of Kohen or priest

Second, the baptism of John the Baptist was not in the Trinitarian form but was rather simply a baptism (not unlike a mikveh) of repentance for sin.

John called himself the forerunner of the Messiah and prophesied that the Messiah - Yeshua ha' Mashiach - would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire.

  • @MenechemShaul The baptism of infants is not against scripture. Where in the bible does it say we must only baptize adults. The baptism of children is the parents wanting there child to be born into the church of chirst. We are given a name without a choice why must your religion be diffrent. It truly is just the parents wanting there child to gorw up in full membership of the church and when the child is ready they will comfirm thier faith

  • @MenechemShaul Scripture teaches me that your a dick

  • @321boileranimal DON'T MAKE FUN OF GOD'S WORD!

  • @Talesoffan1 I'll stop when I can take it more serious because dicks aren't ruining it for everyone

  • @321boileranimal Your mom and dad did a poor job teaching you about respect.

  • @Talesoffan1 respect is earned never given learn your place nothing and nobody including you demands respect off anybody

  • @joemoin You just ignored what I said there.

  • @joemoin no i didnt

  • This is an excellent video, really useful for teaching RE. Thank-you, I've been looking for something like this for years!

  • Thank you for this video! My freshmen in my sacraments class will be watching it today:)

  • What a beautiful video! I was looking around for a video to use to show my 3rd grade CCD class about Baptism and found it. Thank you for sharing it with the world! Your daughter is precious!! :-) God bless you all. . . :-)

P.S. - no internet access in the church hall or I would ask you if I could show it to the children!
