@Maplewalnuht While you may have a point, I feel that his words at the end were true, he is piqueing our interest, and encouraging us to persue and research forward. It may be that simply making a video on one topic would go too far in depth and alienate or discourage the audience.

Oh and before I hear the classic argument "They're just theories!!!!": the difference to religion is that if something is proven wrong, it will be adjusted accordingly until it works. Also if the very base assumptions everything would be built on are based on faith and thus possibly untrue. Earth doesn't "come close" to the galactic equator, it actually crosses over it. In fact, it cruises over every year. The singularity of the black hole does not extend outward from the black hole itself, so crossing the galactic equator has little to no effect. All galaxies are not spiral galaxies. Simply search google for a globular galaxy our irregular galaxy and you'll see that.
if you want a legitimate reason for the end of the world, google NASA NEA, wolf-ray star, or gamma ray burst.

There's no 'paper thin singularity' crossing our galaxy. The reason the galaxy is flat is the same reason that our solar system is flat: as the objects rotate about the centre of gravity they tend to attract one another, which brings their orbits in line. The galactic plane is the conceptual plane around which objects in the galaxy are distributed due to this effect.

dont you think if the Miyans said 'everyone dies at the end of 2012' they would of made it more obvious? yes, but, the wrong theory behind this was a very, umm, 'logical' conclusion, because the calander has been right for soooo long and now it just ends, so some idiot thought 'calander ends = end of time' the theory was brought on bye logic and fell apart cus no one questioned and looked into it
2012 shouldn't be about paranoia, it should be about logical conclusions and facts

I have a better theory: the Mayans didnt come up with the calender and predictions of the future. What really happned is that aliens landed in S.America and were greeted by Mayans. The aliens gt along with the Mayans and they taught them about astronmy and other knowledge.A bond between the Mayans and aliens was strengthening until somthing dispeakable happened. One of the Mayans sodomised a young alien which in turn got the aliens pissed off. So the alien decided to come bk in 2012 for REVANGE

I'd just like to point out the Mayan's had to end their calender somewhere, and when your calender is 4000 years long it might as well end in 2012, or 2011, or 2013, or 2045 for that matter... Perhaps the Mayan's just ended it there because there was simply no need to go further? I mean do we have calenders for 6011AC?
