  • where can i buy one of these and how much are they??

  • nice job on the vid

  • Cool:-)

  • cocain!

  • Cool, simple and useful design. Would not do this with my alloys though.

  • Boy do I feel like a retard. I bought one of those on sale at Tractor Supply for $30 a few years ago and never used it. Went to use it today... I had the tire on the pedistil while trying to break the bead. Worked great till I flipped the tire over and tried to break the bead on the other side....no room to work....see you place tire on the ground. :) Works like a charm.

Thank you! Was about to run tire over with my truck to get it off the bead.

  • Good stuff. Helped me to make up my mind, I will buy one. Thanks for sharing.

  • I like this guy '

  • thats whats up! no lube FTW!!!!!!

  • I've changed a thousand tires for work but i had the machine. Next time try some lube, straight or 50/50 dishwashing soap is what you want to use or buy the special tire lube. Make it a whole lot easier.

Also explain now how you are going to seat the bead of the new tire with only compressor air. You better have at least 120 pounds on tap and even so that's going to be a pain in the azz.

  • @PrinceMustDie666 ive got an air compressor, so the 120 psi is no prob, typically most tires dont need anything like a cheetah "google it" they seat just fine.

since this was almost my first time; I didnt use lube because the tire slides around on the bead too much and I cant get it to grab the rim correctly for the machine to work.. however, ive since then learned to only lube 75% of the bead so that 25% can grab the rim and start the process. bead not seating? use starter fluid

  • Good job young man.

  • I have one of those tire changers too. Ive NEVER been able to make out how to use the bar to remove tire out of rim! I received absolutely no instructions for using that bar. I also have a tire balancer too. NICE. Problem though, where do I get the damn weights. Tried Ebay. They dont have them

  • @fueledbymusic3 hmmm, good question about the weights, since most of my changes are trailer tires and drift spares, they dont get balanced. however, since I live in houston tx, there are alot of tire "warehouses" that sell tire shit and accessories, wheels, tools etc... id check there.

  • looks like a good tool but it looks like its not forgiving on nice rims i bet it scratches the hell out of them

  • @TheFordsforme it does, which is why its used for steel wheels or those crappy fake-chrome ford wheels where the front pops off lol.

if you have nice wheels, just pay the price to have somebody with a machine change em.

  • i hope you dont do this to rims you actually care about!!

  • @b16ef nothing wrong with how he does it, it's exactly how they change your tires at the tire shop except their machine uses compressed air. I've changed 1000 tires for work, including on aluminum wheels, if you do it right little stress is placed on the wheel itself, besides which they are designed to take the force of a tire machine. Bent wheels are caused by people hitting things while driving not the tire changing machine.

  • @b16ef nope, I would never do this to my celica-supra wheels. its mainly only used for my weds

  • lol. i need one of these for my steelies

  • lol Try doing an import rim without a cinter hole. Nice work.

  • @johnnnyreb51 that's when you got to use a clamp tire changer, with probably a reverse mount.

  • good vid. hope you don't have any nice wheels. that thing will eat them shits for breakfast. and yes it does eat shit for breakfast. and so do i. it's grrrrrrreat!

  • @phishintube lol, I would tell you to eat shit, however id just be playing into your trick =)

yeah, it scratches, so only use it on steel wheels. =) or wheels you dont care about

  • @hvguy glad to see you have a sence of humor.

what do you with 365 used condoms???

  • @hvguy And what if you would tape of the ends of the wheel with Duc-tape? Any solution to this problem can save money for people on a budget (nearly everyone).

  • see how u go around with that stick......doesn't that pokes the tube...and end p making a hole???????

  • @shoxrux93 Honestly, if you need a tube in your tire. You should just buy new rims. Unless it's an old POS car. But no, if your taking the tire off (and it happens to have a tube in it). It's already flat anyways.

  • @jollygreen122 if the tire had a tube inside he'd only have to unseat one bead and just take the tube out, there'd be no need to take the whole thing off. It's gotta be a tubeless tire.

  • @PrinceMustDie666 well, yeah. All radial car tires are tubeless tires, and you wouldn't have to unseat both beads to change a tube. From the comment made, shoxrux93 is probably not familiar with radial tires. My reply was just informing him/her that if a tube is needed. Your better off buying new rims.

  • I can remember when gas stations did it that way. no air assisted machines, just plain ole muscle!

  • There is one issue with this particular tire changer. In time, I'm sure you'll encounter it soon enough. Yes, I have one. That flat tip on the end of the bar has a very nasty tendency of breaking off. Also, if you run into a "stubborn" tire, that very same bar will bend. Again, I know this from experience with it. I have a second bar but it's not from HF and it's 10x's beefier than that of the one supplied. Otherwise, it's a wonderful tool to have at home for the DIY'er.

  • @TsmnnDvl5 possibly yours wasnt hardened? one of my first few tires was a 12 ply trailer tires... rusted to the rim. indeed, it took 2 people to break the bead, however, it eventually came off...

but yeah, it is chinese, and they arent known for their "durable" products lol

  • good video

  • i thank you now i no

  • muy bueno el video explica muy bien todo

  • @lisandromanuelcastro err, I understand muy bueno, video..... I believe your saying its a good video. Gracias

sorry, I live in america, we no habla espanol

  • @hvguy They said it was a very good video and it explained everything well. I live in america, but I do habla :)

  • just looking to buy one of these and you have just confirmed its worth it. Good job\

  • thank you

  • Hey, thanks man. I needed to change my snow tires back to my regular ones and was tired of spending $70 to have them changed every fall & spring. Your two videos are awesome and I was able to change all four tires in just an hour on my first try. Thanks again.

  • changing tires

    like a BOSS

    good job

  • how big of tire can be change?

  • would you use it on high end rims???

  • Good demo. I plan to purchase a simular version from ebay. Was not sure how hard it would be to break the bead. I will be changing up to 700-16 small truck tires ..

    Thanks for the show..

  • Yep thanks for the infos, here in the netherlands they sell a bigger version of the machine so that should do!!

  • Can this be used to change 225 45 17 or 205 40 17 tyres?i really need to know, dont care if its hard i am a real big guy!!

  • @cobellig yes, I changed some 195-40-14's

the only hard part is breaking the bead... you might want to reinforce the flat bars on the bead breaker before using it... they will eventually bend

  • cheers for the vid mate just bought one and the instructions are shocking knew i was doing something wrong

  • wow , the last vid i saw of someone using this it took them 15+ min!

  • How much do you pay for this tool ?. I need part or item number ?.

Do you have tire balance tool ?. If yes what part or item number ?.

    Thanks

  • Good job.. you need some medicine for allergies or some tissue to clean your nose bro

  • @nandiito lol, it was the climate change, i just moved there from tx

  • @hvguy you moved FROM Texas?!? WTH are you thinking?

  • @nandiito its called a columbian cold.lol

  • I'll bet if you found a piece of plasic tube to fit over the handle it would help protect the wheel from scratches, nice video

  • @161dullman indeed, or a chunk of teflon molded to fit.

  • Just one problem tho, gotta protect the rim, wouldnt use a crude iron pol on mine w/o anything soft in b/w

  • @Bulgdoom I have garbage throw-away steel rims, I could care less if they are scratched or not.

  • @hvguy couldn't care less

    FTFY

  • I bought one of these before I saw your video. After seeing you use it I'm glad that I bought it. Thank you for making the video.

  • that looked easy, for balancing I suggest a portable wheel balancer for 70$ more.

    Great démonstration!

  • the meth drip

  • no coke ain post nasal drip

  • cain

  • if you change the tire by yourself, what about the balancing part ? .. very good job though !

  • @abced not sure on balancing.... im sure you could build something up with some very smooth spinning bearings and wherever it stop at, place a weight at the bottom... or just dont balance it lol... if its going on a trailer dont bother balancing..

  • Comment removed

  • on sale now for 35.00 at harbor freight.com!!!!

  • @BallinMafia VERY COOL!

  • Will you come change all my tires on all 400 cars out back ??

  • @JetRanger0007 for 100$ apiece and a signed contract i will :)

  • somebody get this guy a tissue

  • You have a very nice shop:)

  • it doesnt work on atv tires tho i figure i would buy it to changer the tire at the track turns out it didnt work so i drove a truck on the tire lol

  • @monsterenergy66 how didnt it work? ive changed 16 ply trailer tires with it... a bit hard, but possible

  • @hvguy iguess four wheller beads are harder to pop off idk

  • OMG!!! do you people not get this through your head? this equipment is for spare tires, trailer tires, lawn mower tires etc... shit that it dont matter if its scratched up or not exactly perfect... it aint for your dam 20 inch dubs....

  • @nflfreak4341 HOLY FUCKING SHIT! THIS GUY GETS IT!!!!!

You sir deserve a cookie A+

  • Comment removed

  • @hvguy its obvious. plus i have to explain this to people all the time as i work at Harbor Freight Store #086 in Nashville TN.

  • cool but looks like some caveman shit hahahah

  • FIRESTONE TIRES ARE FUCKING SHIT DO NOT GET .GET GOODYEAR OR USA ONES... COOPER IS GOOD THATS WHY I WANT THIS TOOL GET THE SHIT FIRESTONES OFF MY FUCKING CAR.

  • @ih8youm888 is your caps lock button glued on? no need to yell =)

correction: firestones are not the worst... get a set of barums then you will see the true terror of a korean made tire lol..

I had a brand new barum last 8k then it came apart... they arent even good for drifting, you might get 30% through the tire and the belt will break and come apart.

but free is free =) beggars cant be choosers.

  • @ih8youm888 i work at firestone, have been working there for over a year now and ive had nothing but good complements on our tires. Its usually the lack of knowledge from the customer, if we do get people saying our tires suck its usually because of the fact the dont do tire rotations or get their vehicle aligned.

  • IF YOU CAN GET ONE ? ALL OUT OF STOCK WHAT IS IT NOW 35 BUCKS ..NORTHERN TOOLS OUT OF STOCK ..TOO 100 BUCKS ..TRACTOR SUPPLY 55 BUCKS W T F ? ITS A HOT TOOL SOLD OUT I FUCKING WANT ONE .

  • @ih8youm888 lol, thats some bad luck if ive ever seen it.

  • This tool would be perfect for emergencies only. Or to take it to the track with a couple of spare used tires on scratched wheels....I mount tires on a machine at work and have a lot of experience...I can see how this tool works...but again only in emergencies were you dont care about scratching the wheel or shredding a tire. Too bad its not able to do 17's or 18's....then i would buy it.

  • @germomr2 ive done 20's with my machine.. 50 series sidewall... its just as easy as a 14.

  • congratulations..........you now own a destroyed rim.....i really dont get it why people dont just buy a proper machine to do their job......i mean yeah its portable and light but needs your body power etc......this means a damage to your body as well except from the rim.....i'll give it 2 of 20......

  • @4evermetalhead congratulations! this is now the worst comment on this video yet!

People that want to change their tire their self means they want to save money... why would that person want to buy a 2600$ machine that takes a compressor and probably 240v power... when they can buy a 35$ machine.. you would think a do-it-yourself'er wouldnt mind a little bit of manual labor if it will save them 40$ for 4 tires... if its a metal stealie like 80% of the cars out there, its not a big deal.

  • @hvguy oh you meaned a diy.......sorry man......my bad then........i thought that it would be used from a garage owner.......oh well, you still know that you will have a distroyed rim dont you?i mean yes the paint is going to be distroyed obviously but the main point is the geometry......anw.....at the end you still need to balance that......you know any way to do that?diy?

  • @4evermetalhead im sure you could rig something up with a bearing, although most of the american cars now-a-days with metal rims come un-balanced from the factory, so balancing will be a bitch.... ive seen balancing machines on craigslist go for 200$ all day,

yes the black paint on the metal rim will be "scratched" please do not throw around the word 'destroyed' because it is far from it... it does not bend the rim or de-form it in any way or fashion.

  • @hvguy btw 80% of the cars out there have aluminium rims and not steel rims......

  • Just a question. How does the top piece screw into the upright rod in order to hold the tire down? I didn't see any threads in the top. They must also have a large pitch because you seemed to screw it down really fast.

  • @jjtompson321 yes, there is a bolt in the center of the piece that screws down into the main unit. Its more of a cork screw lol, it has very course threads... like 4 threads per inch. this part of the unit will hold up very well to a beating,, however the 4-prong device "spider" has a bit of a weak point... if you crank the top down really tight, it will bend... but will still be usable,

  • @hvguy Ok thanks, My Dad is building one of these from scrap metal, I'll be sure to tell him about the weakness too, cause hes making minor changes to it, ( like better feet) and hes not gonna make the threads you described cause its too much work.

  • @jjtompson321 he could thread the outside of the pipe and use a big 4TPI bolt... something that takes only a few turns to spin down

  • Finally, someone that knows what he is doing! Sweet! Good job.

  • how would you prevent from scratching the wheel?

  • Good job man.

  • why are you sniffling so much dude. Must have been some bad coke!

  • Thank you so very much. Up here in Canada Princess Autos sells this without any instructions anywhere. So I purchased it two years back and have never used it. Goodness, the amount of work I could have saved when I kind of rebuilt a used trailer - took off wheels and bearings and took off the tires to do a paint job. Oh boy, what a waste of time it was getting the tires off manually. I loudly said a big Thank You at the end of the video.

  • I bought one of these for my truck tires - Goodyear MTR's 285/75R16's on aluminum rims.

I was able to pop the bead on one but there wasn't enough clearance to get the tool down behind the rim of the tire to zip it out...plus it kinda messed up my rims.

Looks like it works great for smaller tires and steel rims though.

  • @ayebretwalda ive done 13's all the way up to 20x10's with a 60 sidewall... it CAN do it, you just have to maneuver the tool around in just the right way lol....

also, ive done a 12 ply trailer tire that was HELL, but it managed l =)

  • Thanks for the video, the instruction manual both printed and online is garbage with no pictures to go with their numbered instructions.

Harbor freight has this back on their site as well and most of their retail stores carry it as well.

Just bought one tonight at a retail store as I need to change 12 tires before the snow flies in a couple weeks.

Tried posting the link to it on the harbor freight site but links do not work for some reason.

  • @Diffidentone ahh, I check their website as well and notice they got it back up there... must have been right in the middle of a site overhaul and it got booted.... I see they have a youtube instructional video on their portable garage.... im sure if I cleaned up my language they might put my shit up there as well...

  • Awesome video, earlier today I bought the exact same tire changer your using. It works great...changed my tire in about 5 minutes.

    Benefits Breakdown...

    - $15 for used tire vs $60 new

    - one-time installation fee ($50 for equipment) vs $7 a tire

    - conveniently done at anytime vs most shops open Mon-Sat 9 - 5

    - bonus - expanding skillset

I split the cost with a family member to come to a cost of roughly $25 ea (@ Agri-Supply). Typical at least $30 to install a set of tires (it pays for itself).

  • Thank you for making and sharing this video. Love the pallet-mounting idea.

  • Great vid, I see these are on sale for like 50 bucks I think.

  • good video! harbor freight is the shit!!!! also northern tool

  • Nice Video. We always removed and mounted tires with the face of the wheel down in the machine. It is much earier going on and off with the face of the wheel down. In your video you are showing mounting and removing the tire with the face of the wheel up?

  • @WallyCleaver11 yes, face up.

Unfortunately the way you are describing is MUCH harder with some wheels. Little steel wheels dont have this problem, but larger wheels have a longer raised section in the rear... making it nearly impossible to mount and dismount from the back side.

  • Where do u get those at?

  • @ajhgfhgjbjhbjhb your moms house

  • wtf? im asking a simple question. u aint ggotta be an asshole foreals man. fuck u dude

  • @ajhgfhgjbjhbjhb the title of this video: Harbor Freigh tire changer.... my guess is that I got it from harbor freight.....

did you bother reading the info section of the video? guess not, because there is the location of where it was purchased, the item number and a FUCKING LINK TO THE ITEM ON THEIR WEBSITE!!!!!!

As a youtuber, it is your duty to view the info section of the video your interested in... not just fire off a stupid question without doing ANY research.

  • @hvguy it really dooesnt say that much info so u as the host of the video u have to give more info.

  • @ajhgfhgjbjhbjhb

    that much info? your JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at the info again... it clearly lists a part number for HF and northern tool, plus its has a link to the website containing the item...

how can this not be enough info?

  • Thanks man, never seen it done and you did it in 2 min without breaking a sweat. For once a useful utube video without some crap music over the top, or a bunch of still pics. Thumbs up.

  • good job....made it look easy...kinda noticed yur sniffin like a bird dog ..want a hit?

  • so easy a guy with a cold can do it lol

  • @cambigfoot88 coke

  • Good intructional vidoe

  • Hey, man, thanks for the demonstration. Lord knows the instruction manual was completely worthless. A whole page devoted to securing it to a cement floor, but practically nothing on how to actually use the thing.

  • @BigOldCar lol, yours came with a booklet? Mine didnt even come with assembly instructions.... I went back to the store and just took a picture of the one they had on the showroom floor.

glad I could help... I might make another since ive found a better way of doing it.... but its about 105'F outside... so probably not.

  • You have to love Harbor Freights new site and review system. I posted 7 reviews. 5 are 5 star and 2 are less than 5 star. Guess which ones they posted on their site? The 2 negative reviews are nowhere to be found. Looks like youtube is the only place to get a biased review for their items. With Harbor Freight some things are a great bargain and others are junk out of the box. You want know it reading their site reviews. Tire changer looks good for some projects.

  • thanks man and and good job on the video very helpful

  • nice vid going to get one myself

  • Blow your damn nose ,sniffle sniffle sniffle

  • @griffnut666 womp womp cry me a river. even after i blow my nose, that shit's like a waterfall... never ending

  • Good job! Your a good teacher.

  • haha. You rule. good job showing everyone up on how to use that changer.

  • could it change tires like 265-305s? bc i want one for my truck but i dont know if it can do tires that big

  • @kitkeating I did a set of 42" super swampers... yes it will do your truck tires..

  • @hvguy have you used the wheel balancer? does it work?

  • @kitkeating never used it... but im sure it works to some degree... but like most things from harbor freight... all it says is use safety glasses and have fun! no instructions.

  • now show us how to put it on, it is a bit harder

  • Slicker is quicker!

  • @zodsign8th brandy is dandy

  • these tire changers will work up to 40" tires!!!!

Forget paying 20 bucks a tire for mount/dismount!!!!

  • Man, brings back memories. Used to operate (sole employee) a truck rental company (large commercial trucks) on the weekends years ago. Trucks in with minor problems (flats, etc) had to be repaired for next customer. Used hydraulic equipment, but getting tire off truck, onto equipment, and back on truck was tough. Dangerious too since parts occasionally went flying. Haven't had desire to repair tires since.

  • can you use this on an alloy wheel without damaging the rim?

  • i dont think i would use this it would scratch my rims

  • Great video, thanks for posting it.

  • Thanks! Beats the hell out of just reading reviews on Northern Industrial site.

  • lol u were fortunate the bead at the back did not stick again, cause it would be a whole lot of work to unfasten the wheel from the harbor freight , just to go break it again.

  • I bought one of these about 3 years ago and have mounted/dismounted MANY tires. On a stubborn tire breaking the bead can be 90% of the battle! Also you do NOT need to tighten that little screw on top thing because it often tightens itself. The slot is just so you can loosen it when you're done. Oh yeah and get some TIRE LUBE! It makes the job way easier AND saves the bead

  • @seizetheweakened indeed lube does make it easier, and the 2 holes where the bead breaker mounts to are for different size tires, the top one is for larger width tires.

  • I bought that angle grinder for $15 and use it a bunch. If it breaks it owes me nothing. Their framing nailer is fantastic, cost was $100 and it rocks. Rebuilt my buddies cottage, a 200 sq. ft. loft in my garage... some stuff is crap, but they did have some pretty neat stuff too.

  • love that tool good price too

  • I love this! My changer was for doing golf cart and mower tires -- still can't figure out what adapters are needed -- and lo and behold you do a demo that reveals I was missing a part!

Everyone can plainly see in my own HF video that the cone was never included among the jumble of parts these miscreants threw into cobbled-together boxes and mailed to me.

Can you believe a company like this exists?!

  • a company can only stay in business practicing supply and demand.... as long as suckers like me and you are buying these things and advertising them, they will continue to sell.

    =)

  • If the bead is hard, this machine won't break it no matter what you do.

  • not necessarily, i had a 15 ply trailer tire... it was RIDICULOUS!!! but i managed by reinforcing the breaker

  • can you put a 20inch or a 17inch tire

  • This thing is Chinese junk. I've been changing P275 60R 15 for my dirt track car, maybe 10 tires, and the bead breaker is bending on me. I have to take the cheap metal off there and replace it with angle iron that won't bend. Once again Harbor Freight proves itself as only good for buying things you'll only use a handful of times.

  • i had the same problem.. i reinforced it as well... only the thin flat bar was bending tho..

  • yes but in all seriousness if you buy an angle grinder for 10 bucks and it breaks afte you use it for a few months or after the job is over WHO CARES when you buy stuff from harbor freight you have to know that its cheap and no way would i buy a MANUAL TIRE CHANGER from them but i do have a awesome WELDER and alot of other cheap and pretty good stuff for the price ,....if you want SNAP ON then YOU HAVE TO PAY THE MONEY otherwise you can't complain when it breaks

  • Is this how they did it in the old days?

  • Looks like it did the trick!

  • try doing this on an 18x10 orlando. no can...

  • bitch, I did it with my 20x12 +12 enkeis

  • i dont believe you. vids or ban.

  • im not here to make you believe, now leave me alone you immigrant

  • (CrazyKatmatt) i was wanting to get this for my 69 and 03 mustang. I seem to go through a lot of tires, LOL. but i need to change tires on 14x 7 rims and 17x 8 rims. Do you not think its possible for the 17". and if not why is the reasoning, because i saw on their ad that its only good up to 16" but i cant figure why only 16"

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for posting, helped me out a bunch. I clamped mine to a skid with 4 c clamps and it actually held on for 4 tire changes. 14" rims werent too hard to do, breaking the bead on the back side of the wheels was the hardest part.

  • nice man...but is it practical for anything besides steelies? ??seems 2 ruff on the wheel to use on Alum. wheels.

  • like stated before, its made to be a quick and dirty tire changer.

its rough on any wheels, and since aluminum is weaker than steel, naturally it will scratch it more

  • @albdesi Have you ever seen how they do it at the major tire places? They are pretty rough with them as well. But they use tire bead lubricant.

  • indeed captian obvious

  • +1 especially on larger suv wheel like on my 4runner, on and off really easy...

  • I am thinking of getting one of these for my motorcycle tires. Also my 4runner has Staun Beadlocks in the tires and the local tire shop wont touch them. One shop will but they want 160 dollars labor just to take swap tires on the rims. think this would handle a 36 inch tire on 15x10 rims?

  • i did a set of BF all terrains on my 15x8.5 trailer wheels and it seemed easier to mount and dismount v.s. the smaller 13 and 14 inch wheels i was used to... plus the thinner the sidewall the harder. I managed to do a 195.45.14 and it was about a 8... on a scale of 1-10, 10 being impossible.. just took a little practice and it was off before you knew it.
