I thought of a different mode that doesn't count steps, but entrances. It count whenever you enter a portal, but not when a non-player object does.

You can see the counter flicker at 2 and then back to 0 as he gets out the elevator, good work with the rest of the chamber, but in my opinion you did this in 2 steps. No offence, that's just the way Portal is. 2 step minimum for all levels.

If you jump to get there, it counts as 2 steps.

IF you use some kind of trick, exploit or cheat to get more than 2 steps to get out of the elevator, it doesn't count.

Just take a look at 0:00 the score says 2 steps and than, at 0:01 it changes back to 1 step again. Its impossible to get out of the inicial chamber without taking at least 3 or 4 steps.

@000Lycan it's actually legit. If you land on the ground with 0 horizontal momentum and low enough vertical momentum, it doesn't count as a step. Try it yourself.

Let me clarify this. Are you playing the 360 version? I've seen in many of the videos using PC, there are several minor yet occasionally crucial differences. One includes that the grab range seems to be shorter in the Xbox version. Another is, unfortunately, landing on the ground through a portal counts as a step on the console version. This is why people can do it on the PC can do it in ridiculously low amounts of steps, and for us console players it is impossible. :(
