Excellent. Ol' Ray wasn't called 'The Genius' for nothing. This tune will never get old. This and 'Nighttime (is the right time)' are my favorite Ray tunes, hands down. Thanks for posting this.

Both What'd I say and Nighttime (is the right time) are probably the two favorites of mine up at No. 1 on my personal chart along with Rockin' Chair Blues and Kissa Me Baby. you are quite rite cause i don't think ray did the same lyrics at every show he wnt too but that is what makes his music an others that followed him during those "golden" years so different. no matter what they sing on the record don't mean you will get that at the show. when he sang for the crowed or performed he did it to please them ani think we are missing that. great video an super awesome song love ray.

This is the version I remember. I used to have a few precious EPs - I couldn't afford whole LPs back in the early 1960s. And this was one of the first records I ever bought.

But I can't find those EPs today. Now is that sad or not?

This song I noticed is a half step up. Correct if I'm wrong, but the orginal key of this is in E but in this half step version its in Eb or D#?

It does sound a little fast to me; the version I have runs 14 seconds longer (6.25). (The LP says 6:42, but that's counting the phony applause they dubbed in at the end...)

BTW what LP is this? It's the lead track on my copy.
