The people I work with are mostly russian, but I would NEVER go into a russian forest.

You are a pussy. The most exotic/dangerous animal here is some sort of bunny, the people are usually walking their dogs or riding bicycles or taking photos. Even though this forest is fairly large, it's still in the city. The ones outside are all the same, with added risk of geting lost of course. And less people. I personally am afraid of dogs, creepy-looking people and a lot of other stuff, but i always enjoy randomly hiking off in a forest.

Anyway i get pretty annoyed when somebody tells me that i apparently live and take walks regularly in some barbaric dangerzone or something.

haha, yeah im afraid of dogs big time as well, and for good reason too. In Greece, I take walks usually every day out in the countryside, (I live in the province of Evros) and the we have vicious dogs meant for protecting herdsmen all along the countryside. The last time i got near one was when i was inside of our tractor, and the goddamn dogs tore ass towards us, barking all the while, even though we were in a massive tractor! The goddamn herdsmen cant even control their dogs!

Well we just have stray dogs in packs somewhere in the less-visited parts of the forest. I walked into them two times and both times had to run away, i guess to get out of their territory or something, because if they wanted to destroy me i wouldn't manage to simply run away. And i had some bad childhood experiences with a single mad dog in some 3-house village we used to go through in the country.
