  • How can a child Paedophile Ring be a force for good in the world?????

  • It's weird, I'm a Catholic man and have been since I was born. Never once, no matter how many times I was alone with a Catholic Priest either in confession or whatever, I never got molested, it was so weird. Me and all my friends were wondering when it was our turn, but none of us ever got molested. Oh wait, I did get molested, by my cousin when I was a kid, he's Protestant. HEY EVERYONE! ALL PROTESTANTS ARE PAEDOPHILES!!! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM! THEY ARE ALL EVIL NO MATTER WHAT!!!

  • @ChamorruWarrior i am glad you where not raped ,it is the fact it was covered up by the leaders,i a not Catholic or protetant,,,i am human, never been baptised or christened proud to say,,,,,

  • Lot's of non Christians that have raped kids too lol Every race and religion kill, steal, rape etc Catholics are no different. They were not hiding the truth, the other Priests went to confession (To a Priest) and that is between you and God, it's not the Priests place to tell the police, or anyone. What happens in confession stays between you and God. Plus being Catholic the world holds us to a higher standard for some reason. If you're bad, oh no, BUT if you're Catholic and bad OH SHIT!!!

  • I PISS ON THE POPES FANON

  • Love this quote from another debate with Hitchins ....... "Religion now comes to us in this smiling-face, ingratiating way, because it’s had to give so much ground, and because we know so much more. But you’ve no right to forget the way it behaved when it was strong, and when it really did believe that it had God on its side"

  • They lost the argument when Stephen fry's name was mentioned.

  • Has Stephen a billion followers yet? He should take down the pope.

  • The Truth is the truth, They collaborated with the nazis and alot of them are deluded, disturbed pheodophiles their better of dead for been traitors to humanity >.<

  • @luxuspeter Bullcrap. The Catholic Church commisioned the Douay Rheims bible in 1588, before the King James was commissioned. Wycliffe wroite and English Bible with many heretical innacuracies and that was the reason he was condemend, not because he wrote it in English. There were other vernacular trans. by Sts. Cyril & Methodius and Bede. English Bibles were allowed as long as they were approved by the Bishops and the Church.

  • Christopher's smile at 9.44 is priceless

and Stephen taking his glasses off at that time - brilliant

    Anne's a pit bull

  • @luxuspeter The only church leader that ordered people to be burned alibve was Martin Luther, the leader and founder of Protestatism, I find it rather strange that the protestants now accuse the catholics of what they are guilty of.....just sillyness...shall i provide sources...something which I am 99.9% sure that you do not have..but I do..just say the word.

  • the people that control the past control the future, the people that control the present control the past

  • Demon's maggots scrape away the body in decay. From the inside until your savior is empty. His failure is cleansed by your hatred. Your god stands below dark emptiness. Lost and forgotten in the cold depths. Glaring up from the bottom arises Satan. The body of christ shall satisfy his hunger. Vomit your pallid beliefs. As you live to suffer in ignorance. Save your false pity for those who care. Purged of the will to live your life. You have nothing but a lifeless prayer.
  • @luxuspeter

Nope.....the Catholic Church will never be destroyed. Christ God Himself said so.....And the gates of Hell shall never overcome it!! CATHOLIC STATE.....seed of civilisation folks.....if you don't want to be handed over to the Caliphate!

  • @amaqula Christ said so? Where? I don't see it in the CATHOLIC Bible!! The Church that he founded was not The Catholic Church....Catholics twisted that verse and try to convince people it is their church the Bible talks about. The Church of God is ANYONE WHO FOLLOWS HIS TEACHINGS, NOT A RELIGION......DUH

  • @TheValleyOfLight Bullcrap, you're just talking without offering proof. There is an unbroken connection with the RCC and Pope Anacletus in his letters, as Apostolic succession will prove to you. Incidentally, it was the Apostles and the Priests they appointed that spread the Christian faith, not reading the Bible which wasn't put together until 300 A.D. Else, if Christ established no Church and no rock, there'd be no legacy of His and we're there to preserve it.

  • If your going against stephen fry in a debate, give up just stop thinking of clever arguments and retreat, this is a man who can win over an audience with a single sentence.

  • Of course the Catholic Church is a force for good in the world......it is the only institution established by Jesus Christ God Himself. And He is the source of all good. Without the Catholic Church.....the West is disippating and falling to islam. CATHOLIC STATE for the future please!

  • Can I be forever in love with Stephen Fry?

  • I have renewed hope in humanity after watching this

  • why isn't stephen fry leading the world?

  • Pure, sheer, fuckin' genius.

  • brilliant...

  • watch here for the results of the debate - /watch?v=0rTxH-DJ9ac&feature=related

add that after the youtube . c om part of the URL

Thumbs up if you appreciate so others can view the results

  • Stephen Fry, you're great man!

  • where are the other parts of this?

  • Religion is bull shit, Christianity is the most bull shittiest of them all. It doesn't matter what flavor bull shit you serve up, it all stinks and tasted like shit.

Life is a banquet. I refuse to prescribe to some sort of starvation diet.

  • "and it was only" earlier this year, the catholic secondary school i attend in england brought in a house system and named one of the houses after 'Moore'........ disgraceful.

  • Ann Widdecombe will be a small box of bones and the echo of a cracked voice when Stephen Fry will be remembered for his eloquence, generosity of spirit and supreme intelligence. Honestly, pitting two sky-fairy worshipers against Hitchens/Fry is like pitting two paraplegics against Chuck Norris and Steven Segal. This was not a fair fight, but it was a delight to witness the carnage!

  • @JesusSucksHorseCock

What's up Bro? Check out the attachment I've sent. I think you'll dig it.

  • Excellent!

  • i go to St thomas more High school 6th form, this is quite interesting

  • The Enlightenment was the subversive---ala for instance the occultist and eugenicist Francis Bacon--- attempt to undo Europe. Read Thomas Woods' How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization. As for Purgatory, it is taught clearly in Macabees, Fry must know. The 'Enlightenment' triggered the most horrific wars mankind has experienced. Britain / USA rain fire on the poor daily which make a relative few stake burnings look like a day at the beach. And torture? Ask Messers. Bush, Obama.

  • Fry's sexual orientation would be enough in itself to prejudice him against any Creator who speaks commandments. One may certainly think there is no Creator. But one cannot know there is not. Because in order to know that you would have to know the whole of Reality. One may have a hunch but that's all it can be. Atheism also involves a desire to belong to a group with a POV. It is a subtext of atheism too. Thank you for speaking thoughtfully and not with all the name-calling we so often see.

  • What staggered me and Mr Fry didn't mention it, was the first crusade was not against Muslims in the Holy Land as we would assume but the branch of Christianity called Cathars in South West France, Languedoc, as a competing popular branch they were besieged and slaughtered and burnt some 200, 000 of them, bit naughty on the catholic front. I used to get punched around the head and my hair ripped out during Latin by a Brother regularly during Latin he quite got off on it, and he was ginger. odd

  • It is nearly frightful how staggeringly accurate this man is in his assertions... Mr. Fry you are a much needed man in our times.

  • Staggering! Confiscate all properties!

  • @danMillstein This matters.

  • Loved Stephen Fry's speech, but I'm not too sure that Anne Widdecombe said that the Church was not a nation state. Can somebody point out where in the previous clips she said this?

  • No wonder he was so perfect in his role in V for Vendetta. A brilliant argument from Mr. Fry.

  • I knew Mr Fry was an intelligent witty man but this is just amazing. What an enlightened individual not to mention a fabulous speaker.

  • I always thought Mr Fry was funny and a great comedian, but I never knew he had this kind of debating skill and intellectual rigor within him.

  • i couldn't love Stephen fry more.

  • Wow this guy is incredible! Note to self... must learn more of him. Awesome speech he gave.

  • @Nine89 i've only heard him a few times but yes, he's great to listen to.

  • Oh Snap!!! lol

  • I never knew he was gay. I thought that he was just British. lol!

  • @ceezmad1

lol, I am british.. And british people find the american accent as feminine. hehe

  • Feminine? Oh well, that's still better than "uncultured", which I always assumed was the opinion you guys held on our accent. :-)

  • Well it looks like stephen is more omniscient than God. Lets worship him instead?

  • Stephen Fry is a brilliant and fantastic gay man.

  • @HenhousetheRed there is no differnce btween gays and paedophiles in sexual terms , i agree u should not b persecuted as an adult 4 sexual prefernce but if u believe ur are born gay the u can not deny that to paedophiles for they also say they can not help that, but if u believe in evolution then so what there is no sin but if u believe in god the u condemn ur self by ur actions and by the wy i luv s,fry

  • @stuart7034 you said "there is no differnce btween gays and paedophiles in sexual terms"

did you read that before you posted it? did you consider adult males who're attracted to pre-pubescent females? or adult females who're attracted to pre-pubescent males? in what way are either of them gay? or are you just equating homosexuality with paedophilia in terms of how much you dislike them both?

take your prejudice and stick it up your arse.

  • @RabSimpsonDotCom hi rab read what u said watched the debate again, srry about my attitude . im not a christian but i do believe in christ and i admit my anology of gay people and paedophiles was out of order , please except my apology ' the debate its self was wonderful and s.fry words about his the right 2 luv and ur reply changed my mind , thank u

  • @stuart7034 Wow what ignorance. There is no objective morality and if one is a pedophile then I am sure one would justify it oneself in some way. However for those of us with children, or young nephews or whatever that do not want them to be raped and defiled. we can create laws to protect them. we can collectively condemn pedophiles. That is morality. It is subjective. But for those that agree on what is moral to us, we can group together and give power to our morality.

  • @HenhousetheRed Stephen Fry is a brilliant and fantastic man. Period.

  • @eclipsedeed I think he's hateful and a huge jackass.

  • @philipmarie1854 right.... A)Your grammer is absolutely abysmal.B)It was not a serious suggestion (although he would make a good leader in my humble opinion).C)You evidently didn't listen to the video at all or/and appear to have either ignored or never bothered to look up the arguments against your position ever. If you had you would regard nuns and priests as immoral, sexually repressed fools and Stephen with, if not agreement, at least a respect unapparant in your post.

  • @Darkvaynes Again with the grammar bullshit. Its you tube, I can't write very well with 500 letters, live with it. Secondly, Fry even if he became a leader would never be a good one because he doesn't set a good example morally and believes only in the morlaity that he HIMSELF wants to beleive (hence his moral relavatism) (and don't tell me that I'm anti-gay: I never said he's a bad role model 'cos he's anti-gay). Really, if he believes that the Catholic Church is so evil why not support banning

  • @philipmarie1854 I on the other hand, can write english while following basic readable grammer laws with 500 words. Go me and my intelligable statements. And you apparantly didn't read the last post when I never said I was serious about Fry becoming a leader. The layers of depth apparantly cannot penetrate your thick skull. And you have also not read John Stuart Mill on freedom of speech. Disagreement with someone does not give you the right to ban their speech.

  • @Darkvaynes More power to you on grammar but its unimportant. I did read your post not taking Fry for leader seriously but I still gave my opinion why he wouldn't make a good leader. Seriously or not, you didn't seem to say it jokingly and thats why I was serious about it. And please, while I don't mind bad words for appropriate situations, downright insulting with things unsupported ideas about them is just wrong. I only called Fry a jackass because he makes up things about the Church that are

  • @Darkvaynes proselytism if its so evil? What has he done during all these years to influence the government or the general population that religion is evil?

Secondly, didn't look up? I've seen videos of Hitchens and Fry before and I admit I didn't SEE the debate, only because I can't stand Fry's pompous face, but I've read what he said, looked up everything I could to refute his bull shit and could go for hours talking why he is such a pompous twit and how he is anti-catholic. Secondly, (2of3)

  • @philipmarie1854 Hence why you have your right to spout cathlic dogma, and I'm then going to exorcise my freedom of speech to show you why it's dumb. And I can't stand Ann Widdecombe, yet I still watched her speech. And I disbelieve you when you say you looked up his arguements, mainly because he refuted many of the point you have said on here, you have merely reiterated them rather than actually coming up with a refutation of his (or hitchens) refutation(s).

  • @Darkvaynes half true. Now, I've read Lockes ideas. I didn't read the whole book obviously, but I've read summaries of what he said and supported on wikipedia and basicly its what most people today support on freedom of speech and other freedoms: do what you want as long as you don't harm people or yourself INCLUDED, and nothing in that contradicts catholic dogma. The problem is that you misinterpret history and how the Church acted before Vatican II: you seem to think that the Church was an opp

  • @philipmarie1854 and the anti-catholic crap again. We apparantly have a Bill Donahue supporter here. The IQ just dropped by 90 points... Try some of John Stuart Mills "On Liberty" and then get back to me on why the catholic church deserves such privalages with respect to silencing people's freedom of speech/logical arguments. I know the catholic church has a problem with logic but please give it a go. His arguments are good, and no, this book is not an anti-catholic rant.

  • @Darkvaynes ressive society where even the smallest sin is punishable by death. NOTHING can be farther form the truth. While we do have our own definitions of whats wrong and right, the Church never said that every sin makes you a dowright bad person. We even have two definitions of sin: venial, which is done with little thought or is of small consequence, and mortal which is essentially malicious. And really, the Church is as 'sexually repressive' today as it was in the middle ages. The best

  • @Darkvaynes seeling book of that time was a pornographic book written... by Pope Pius II who declared that no council can remove what a Pope formerly defined. If you want to read a novel showing you how horny people were back then and is a fair portrayal of Catholic life and the Church, read 'the Pillars of the Earth' by Ken Follet. Its proof that even atheists can recognize that good does come out of religion and that only a small minority are douchebags like Dawkins and Fry. Anyway, we view

  • @Darkvaynes sex as only acceptable and healthy in marriage. Never heard of Donahue, he's culturally invisible like Hitchens who in 30 years accomplished nothing... now the Church and feedom of speech. First, please note that unlike the westboro baptist church, most fundie Protestants and cafeteria catholics (and I'm DEFINITELY not a cafetria catholic. I'm ultra-conservative, ove the Blessed Mother and proud of it), devout Caths, and especially Caths before Vat. II took their faith very seriously

  • @Darkvaynes so you must remember this. Now Fry ridicules outside the Church there is o salvation literally because he doesn't like it and because its unpleasant. If tis so unpleasant, why do we beleive this dogma? Because it makes sense. How can all religions be real if they have so many contradictary statements on morality and God? Only one God can be real (ironically, almost all the toher religions believe the same tihng). Supported by the authority of Jesus who is the SOn of God, we say we

  • @Darkvaynes are the real religion, and while the Church never supported forced conversion and condemend it in its documents and called it invalid, it certainly never supported the errors of other religions. Works which were heretical were put on the index of forbidden books and could only be read for serious reasons. Modernist Priests were defrocked and excommunicated to keep te purity of the faith. And it was good. If the Church didn't keep the faith pure, it'd have lost its identity. To condemn

  • @Darkvaynes what in the Church's opinion contradicted its doctrines is an exercize of free speech and harmed nobody; and for the record, the mediaval and spanish Inquisition didn't kill people; they're as guilty of murder as a jury is when it sends a man to the electric chair as hey had no part in the death sentence. The Roman one on the other hand were signed by the Pope though not ex cathedra. Actually, the Inquisition debated with the heretics it prosecuted and used torture very rarely. Even

  • @Darkvaynes Galileo wasn't tortured, not as Fry says; he couldn't be because he 'responded as a catholic' and torture could only be used in other circumstances. The Church has no problem with logic as Leo XIII said: some things which we aren't sure of must be spoken and investigated. If you are sincere in logic and non-bias, read the Summa Theologica or summaries on Catholic sites. Its the blue print of Catholic theology and believe me, I've read alot of it. Also read Leo XIII's encyclicals if

  • @Darkvaynes you're interested. What to Fry is logical (moral relavatism) to us is insane: there is no such thing as moral relavatism. Though humanity is imperfect, we have a set of laws which we must follow given by God Himself and we have sex outside of marriage, if we murder, we are sinning and give up on heaven tohugh there is always a chance of returning. And don't give me the argument that these are more civilized times and that the middle ages were all dark and violent: the middle ages

  • @Darkvaynes never saw the likes of Stalin, Mao and Hitler. In fact, serial killers were few and though there were a lot of wars, they are still present today. Atrocities were commited by all sides, including atheism with its reign of terror in the french revolution were 40,000 were killed and religion outlawed, Napoleon and his needless wars, and the US with Iraq and Afghanistan. And Hiroshima.

On the other hand, the middle ages introduced alot of things we take for granted today: universities

  • @Darkvaynes architecture, THE LAW system with the inquisition (yes, it was the inquisition which made lawyers for defendants mandatory whereas before, they were onyl present as a symbol), showing that people there were as fair and civilized and intelligent as today. The Pope even condemned such dumbass superstitions such as holding a red hot rod or dunking a woman into a river to see if she was a witch. Albert Magnus is regarded as a great pioneer of science and Hildergard of Bingen was one of

  • @Darkvaynes first women to write on female sexuality. So clearly, the middle ages weren't times of ignorance. As for human rights, in countries such as the Papal states, Catholics had mroe rights than people of other religions and there was public exercize f false religions wasn't allowed (although it was allowed privately and Jews had their own societies in their ghettos so they could practice Judaism and even had their own justice system). Obviously, works which were considered heretical

  • @philipmarie1854 weren't allowed to be sold or thaught in public though it would be wrong to say that if you were caught you'd be putto death. Mostly, you were fined. Today, not allowing religious freedom or that of speech would be considered infringing on human rights and in my opinion it wouldn't work today (even though not all countries had the same sanctions. Poland did fine though it was predominantly and DEVOUTLY Catholic and Ireland also, and see what state that country and the Church are

  • @Darkvaynes Immoral? Sexually repressed fools? I tell myself, are you flipping serious? I want to become a Priest because I want to do good thorugh my Church. I'm celibate because I want to dedicate my life to God AND the Virgin Mary, not because I think sex is disgusting. If it is, why does the Church encourage marriage and fidelity? Am I a fool because I refuse to check porn and to not concern myself with sex? Yes, spend your time on the internet checking porn and have one night stands, thats

  • @philipmarie1854 aaaaand yet again you see only two standards-the celibate/sexual repression standard or the whore standard. Are you so stupid as to think that anyone who doesn't follow your teaching must engage in one night stands? Apparantly you are a social recluse as well...

  • @Darkvaynes I'm not a social recluse though I have admittedly problems communicating with people because of OCD, thank you very much. Not that makes me deserving of pity of course. Anyway, I don't understand what you meant by this whore standard. I never said that YOU yourself do that but really, is it healthy to have pre-marital sex without seeing the consequences? Its giving up ones honor just for a pointless hour of pleasure. Society sexualizes women; we respect women as human beings whose

  • @Darkvaynes honor we regard as very important and not potential sex toys. Sex isn't for everyone, its only for married people and even then, it concerns only THEM. I'd slap any person who asked me how much sex my parents commit.

Pre-marital sex brings lots of problems, problems which many marriages that end in divorce so quickly today have: you have sex with a person whom you hardly know and when he turns out to be a douche, you regret ever having sex with him.

  • @Darkvaynes healthy, opposed to building a healthy relationship and having sex after marriage as something special between hubby and wife. Immoral? There are immoral priests and nuns, especially after the disaster of Vatican II yet even then, they are only a minority: 1 or 2%. Hell, immoral Priests were always a minority as most of them lead the hard lifestyle out of devotion to God. Thats why we have discacled nuns who don't eat meat. How is that immoral? Do you even dare spit on the good which

  • @philipmarie1854 *sigh* since when were these doctrines only preached by the catholic church? And actually I consider a lot of the central teachings of catholicism to be evil (and if you bothered to look up the arguments then so would you) making anyone who preaches them immoral in my mind. Sexual repression, scapegoating in the form of jesus's sacrifice... I could go on.

  • @Darkvaynes such people did thorughout the centuries? Mother Seton, the missionaries of the Americas and Gaudalupe, Saint Francis, Dominic, the Salesians, Mary Mazarello, Euphrasia Pellettier, Thomas Aquinas, Albert Magnus, Vincent de Paul, the Daughters of Charity. What about the Church being a source of morality in the middle ages? Even today we follow alot of the morality the Church left us even if we don't acknowledge it. Sexually repressed and immoral fools, way to piss on our intelligence.

  • @philipmarie1854 Sigh, again with the fucking missionaries. And yes what lovely morality we had in the middle ages. Violent torture, witch burnings and sexual repression causing suffereing on a scale unknown in this time (with the exception of the catholic church). If you'd watched the debate then you'd understand that billions of pounds of catholic charity money is nothing compared to the harm they do. You'd have to call hamas and other such organisations moral on that basis.

  • @Darkvaynes AGAIN WITH THE FUCKING MISSIONARIES! What does statement prove? To ignore the good these missionaries and other members of the Church did is to ignore an HUGE part of Catholic culture. I already spoke how the middle ages weren't as bad as cinema wants you to believe. What harm do we do compared to the charity we give? Answer me and I'll respond. The values of a thing shouldn't be judged by the abuses some of its members commit unless the thing itself is based on abuse.

  • @HenhousetheRed Stephen Fry is a fantastic man Full stop.

  • @HenhousetheRed "gay" man.. Why not just man, man?

  • @HenhousetheRed Stephen Fry is a brilliant and fabulous man. Faaaaabulous.

  • Wow! What an extraordinary and accurate description of the catholic church. This should be broadcast in the US on the "big three" during prime time!

  • Jesus loves anal

  • Damn but you are fucking boring. 6th grade was probably the high point of your life.

  • How do you know Jesus said those things, caycug? Or rather, why would you ever believe those were direct quotes?

  • @caycug1

Actually no scholars even attempt anymore to claim that those words and acts were more than second-hand stories told in a folklore like manner.

  • Actually, there are multitudinous scholars that concur on the validity of the gospels. People that re-write history are doing it to get attention, or to justify their lifestyle and belief system.

  • @caycug1

I know you're lying, because some passages of the gospels contradict each other on simple facts, and therefore could not unanimously be accepted as valid, such as: whether Jesus' first sermon was on a plain or mount, Jesus' last words, how long Jesus was in the tomb, how Judas died, how many times the cock crowed (if at all) upon Peter's prophecized denial, etc. etc. etc.

I don't appreciate the lies YOU use to justify YOUR lifestyle and belief system.

  • @Sh0nin

Keep on pwning. Thumbs up ;)

  • @etowngftddummy

    Thx m8 :)

  • @Sh0nin The nice thing about four different gospels, is that you might get a slightly different perspective from each writer.

Matthew and Mark heard Jesus say "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" Before Jesus gave up his spirit, John heard Jesus say "It is finished." Luke heard Jesus say "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit". So Jesus actually said all three of those things. (cont)

  • @caycug1

Matthew+Mark Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? = My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

Luke "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit."

You've ignored the key-phrase being 'last words'. Which one was it?

    -

Matthew mentions a mountain, but no plain, while Luke mentions a plain but no mountain, so your solution is to say it was both? That's ridiculous.

  • @Sh0nin @Sh0nin I'm not sure. It could have been either. I haven't talked to the witnesses. Maybe we'll find out someday.

  • @Sh0nin I don't think it's ridiculous. I went snowmobiling on a mountain in Colorado. Half way up the mountain, there was a huge flat open plain where we could let it rip. So we were on a plain...but we were on a mountain also.

  • @caycug1 That's Mark's account.

John 13:38 Jesus answered him, Wilt thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, still thou hast denied me thrice.

    -

Acts 1:18 has Judas jumping off a cliff.

    -

I could say the same to you.

  • @Sh0nin Concerning Peter's denial, I don't see the discrepancy.

Another thing...I found a better answer for how long Jesus was in the tomb. R.A. Torrey suggests that Jesus went into the tomb Weds eve (the day before the Passover Sabbath) and left the tomb Saturday evening (3 days + 3 nights = 72 hours) Thanks for inspiring me to learn more.

If something in the bible seems contradictory...keep studying because you'll probably find a good explanation.

  • @caycug1

It's not very faith-inspiring that you can't even rely on the Bible to tell you the Messiah's last words.

    -

lol The problem is that the passages only describe them as either one.

    -

The discrepancy is the number of times the cock crowed concerning a major prophecy by Jesus.

That's very interesting, but how does that fit with Jesus being crucified the first day of Passover at 9am (Mark 14:12, 15:25)?

    -

LMAO Nice try, but the passages him specifically dying from either act.

  • @Sh0nin It's good to see that your reading the bible. Keep searching...you'll find the answers that you are looking for. (Matthew 7:7)

  • @caycug1

That's all very well and good, but it makes much more sense that the Bible was dreamed up by Middle Eastern mystics. If I kept the same amount of skepticism you do for the Bible but also kept a fair mind about other documents, then Id have to accept Homer's Odyssey as a biography.

  • @Sh0nin Do you know what the gospel message is? Can you explain it?

  • @caycug1

I know what the Bible says it is I Corinthians 15:1-5

but I think Ive already justified my doubt quite clearly to you

  • @Sh0nin

Do you know what was the purpose of Jesus dying on the cross and rising from the dead? Do you know what it means?

  • @caycug1

Blood sacrifice. Stop asking stupid questions.

  • @Sh0nin Blood sacrifice for what?

  • @Sh0nin Judas didn't jump off a cliff. He hung himself. Then the rope or branch broke, and he fell and a stick or rock burst him open and his entrails gushed out. Not a pretty site.

  • @Sh0nin The sermon that you are referring to... Jesus gave the sermon on a level part of a mountain. The word plain (tópou pedinoú) simply means level place. (cont)

  • @Sh0nin According to my understanding, Jesus went into the tomb late Thursday, and he left the tomb Sunday morning. I consider Sunday a "day", even though it wasn't a full 12 hour day. (cont)

  • @Sh0nin Before the cock crowed twice, Peter had denied Jesus three times.

    Judas hanged himself.

If you are really interested, you can answers online, or you could join a bible study.

  • stephen's nose seems broken :|

  • It seems smashed to bits

  • It's most likely been broken in the past and healed back wrong: happened to me too, made wearing glasses a huge annoyance :)

...or it's just the lighting in the hall.

  • @Inferno41

I couldnt find your other comment...... No, I dont find your accent uncultured. How can an accent be uncultured? Its using wrong words and corrupted spellings that show lack of education and culture.... but british and americans are equals in that regard.. British people can be just as stupid... trust me.... An americans can be just as cultured.. I am talking about americans like frasier crane (Fictional I know but people like him exist).. peace

  • The Historian John Henrik Clarke said:

"History is not everything, but it is a starting point. History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of day. It is a compass they use to find themselves on the map of human geography. It tells them where they are, but more importantly, what they must be."

Anne Widdecombe's denial of the relevance of history is telling as is her lack of knowledge in her own faith.

  • Was I the only one literally applauding the points made as I heard them?

    Bravo Stephen, Bravo Hitchens.

I am forever indebted and in awe.

  • It's only a video, they can't hear you.

  • The Catholic church is a faction of the Cristian religion, and a pretty corrupt and immoral part too!

  • You couldn't be more wrong. These debates are EXTREMELY necessary if the human race is ever to achieve all it is capable of.

The Catholic church is among all other religions of the world in that it is desperately clutching the coattails of society, science, and rational thought, threatening humanity with ludicrous ideas of eternal suffering and (quite sadistic) imaginary friends.

I live for the day religion of all kind is (finally) discarded, evicted from our thoughts, and destroyed...

  • The day when religion is discarded is the day when the species homo sapiens begins its true existence, sheds the shackles of superstition and mythology, and moves forward into the larger universe. Religion destroys science, and science is the only way we move forward. Therefore, religion needs to go the way of the Olympian and Norse myths.

  • @LaerenMisha

Mankind in its present state has no chance of discarding religion. But there are far bigger problems than religion, which is merely a symptom.

General stupidity, ignorance, arrogance, greed, vanity, pride, etc are the root causes of mankind's problems.

Homo sapien sapiens will be long extinct (or at least evolved into another species) before religion or any of these traits is discarded.

  • I'll never concede any moral authority to an international child sex ring. The fact that you do is an indictment of your character.

  • FAIL!
