  • dont any1 that get why he have a black hat on and point at it?..... anyways heres the answer

A Black Hat Hacker (also known as a cracker) is someone who hacks without authorazation or permission. Black Hat Hackers are usually solitary, even though some work in groups. As a team, they can be deadly. Black Hat Hackers usually D-DOS websites in groups. There methods can include Vandalism, Identity Theft, Site Defacing, and other Illegal Techniques.

  • Wearing a black hat, nice! I think you should wear relevant hat colours for each haktip.

  • Great idea for a new series. I look forward to these.

  • Why are you under water?

  • wow you guys really stepped your broadcasting/show set game up big time!

  • Nice new Format but get rid of the hat Oo Or get a huge one :-)

  • Since playing with the new backtrack on my asus aspire one, when i run dump i get bssids popping up but i never get any stations associated with the AP's when I know there are ones. Is there something my broadcom card doesnt support or some setting that needs turned on?

  • New format is awesome! So much easier to keep concentration through. Also great for quick referencing when i forget certain commands. Keep up the good (grey) work :)

  • This is awesome, Darren. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next installement

  • hak tip is now my second fave show,.

  • Hey, I'm considering of buying a usb wireless card one of the Alfa models, but im not sure what one should i buy the Alfa AWUS036H or is there a better one under a $100?

  • @crbonensor There's a 2W version available too.

  • @amazingrapist Which is better the Alfa AWUS036H 1W (<-- is there a 2W) or ALFA AWUS036NH 2mW? Which chipset is better?

  • @crbonensor It's 2 Watt, not 2 milli Watt. Still uses the Realtek chipset. I have no problems using it in backtrack 4, not used it with 5 but I should think it will still work.

  • I LOVE THE HAKTIPS!! I WOULD ACTUALLY PAY TO HAVE IT COMMERCIAL AND AD FREE... ITS GOOD TO ACTUALLY LEARN INSTEAD OF JUST SEEING ALL THE COOL SHIT YOU CAN DO.. NOW I CAN DO :)

  • Now what USB adapter did you use?

  • @nickbouwhuis i want to know what that first adapter is too.

  • @shmoe01 It's an Encore ENUWI-G2 I believe.

  • for a noob interested in learning to hack and learn code and the progams assosciated with it where would one start.

  • que te valla bien, bombo ahacks, bonito eh , como se dice en tibetano !! !! !!

  • darren! whats the model of the small wifi adapter that you like? the encore one?

  • I'm surprised how many people are commenting and responding to your vids. I'm glad that your becoming more popular, I have been following Hak5 for quite some time, glad to see you doing well for yourself.

  • I have never found a good wireshark tutorial. I can collect packets and what not, but how on earth do you analyze it, and make use of it, how to filter out the garbage in between.

  • This episode brought to you by Richmond Public Library WiFi :P

  • That's one nerdy cocktail party! lol

  • I like the short, I can actually watch it

  • this guy sucks at picking hats

  • Is he using a laptop underwater?

  • @guidodobboletta Yeah, using a laptop underwater might void its warranty. Take note!

  • Darren is the man!

  • This isn't going to be a valuable comment or a question, but lovin' the Hak tips, keep up the good work!

  • snow crashing the metaverse... nice one.

  • @Pada007gangster Hey, man. Wanna try some SNOW CRASH?

  • do any built in wireless one work from brondcon?

  • @strickmans typically, no. But like I said, check the Aircrack-ng wiki. Personally I've had very little luck with Broadcom chips in the past.

  • Argh backtrack takes for ever to download >.<

  • under station you have a MAC address. why does this not show up on mine?

  • HakTeam,

How I have missed you. I now have several hours to lose on sleep for education.

  • eff dat, saving this gem. Nice1 Darren

  • oh, and hes using backtrack 5, thumbs up if you noticed this :D

  • @DaBlackdogg94 he says, "here in backtrack 5" so no i will no thumbs up anything because all you had to do was listen not "notice"

  • WOuld be awesome if Darren would kindda wear different hats for different topics :D

for example... this hat for 101 things.. the lether thing on hacking news and such.. :D

  • @DaBlackdogg94 as a podcaster I can say there are plenty of hats to be worn ;)

  • Have to say I am liking these Haktips, a great introduction for new people.

    Also dig the fedora.

  • Thanks for a great channel and videos!!!

  • Rainbow Tables~

  • @GeekyRob87 Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. The problem I'm experiencing with Ubuntu seems to a problem for many other users. Apparently the MD5 hash isn't matching amongst the ISO files hosted online. It's been difficult finding one that's the same as the official release.

  • The fedora looks good Darren

  • @rhblakeman thanks. I have another Goorin Bros hat I'll be wearing for the next HakTip.

  • Hey Darren you forgot to do a macchange! that's not safe!

  • @dohrehmee I'm saving that for a future haktip ;)

  • @dohrehmee

LOL thats the same thing i was bout to say

  • @hero0hero That was an alfa awus036h antenna my friend

  • the intro is so awsome

  • @66jlopez Thanks, I love doing the motion graphics -- it's so much fun. Short intros like this are the best. Glad you liked it.

  • Is the grey hat you're wearing meant to be symbolic?

  • @wereling

If so - notice that it got a black belt...

  • @wereling Possibly. ;-)

  • @Hak5Darren

    Thanks for the effort!

Feedback: I dont know if its just me, but the music in the background is pretty annoying when you talk :/

  • @wereling yeah, he's "spoofing" to be spy from Team Fortress 2. HACK THE PLANET!!! LOL

  • @wereling it looks more like a black hat to me

  • @wereling its for keying

  • Snow Crashing the Metaverse eh?

  • BackTrack 5 has been a nightmare. I'm fairly new to Linux-based operating systems, and BackTrack has been the most painful to install. No matter what media I burn it to for installation, it never works. The same has been for Ubuntu 11.04. Getting the OS and being unable to get the installation to work over and over again makes a very bad impression for new users. I understand that Linux is a more advanced OS, but installing Ubuntu is mean to be simple, and it's not - at least not with 11.04.

  • @GarrettBMXes have you tried putting backtrack linux 5 on a flashdrive using uneboot? from there all you have to do is make sure that you boot from usb and youll be fine. All you need is a flashdrive with 1.8ghz of space which is fairly cheap nowadays.

  • @WaeHaKe Yes, I've tried installing from USB and DVD, both to no avail. I get errors and hangs all over the place. I've tried UNetbootin as well as many other tools, most notably Universal USB Installer.

  • Love it, right to the point.

  • start with the black hat and change it to a white hat when its legal and back to black when it isnt legal

  • I get the idea (very funny), but your hat bothers me.

  • hello there "Dawren kitchen" sounded like you forgot your own name there for a sec :P

  • Great show as always. Even though most of the time the topics go over my head. ::sigh:: back to researching : /

  • Nice :)
