That guys statistics about Australia are bullshit. Homicide rates have fallen in Australia from 320 in 96 to 260 in 2007. Homicides involving firearms are less than 16%.
Australia's murder rate is 1.2 per 100000 people. The US rate is 5 people per 100000.
Australia never has any school shootings, and there has been only one political assassination in 110 years of Australian politics.
The statistics speak for themselves. Then again, Australia doesn't have a gun culture, so your point is moot.

Well those 5 people per 100,000 are explained by the fact Americas has 308,000,000 population Nearly 14 times larger then that of Australia and the murder rate is only percent is only 3.8. 1. A robbery that involves guns wouldn't happen that often if there weren't gun involved.
2. Reason robbers shoot, is cause they can almost be certain that the store keepers have guns to.
3. School shooting happens because some psychos got an easy access to guns.
4. Yes people are killed more by drivers and its a bigger issue, but why need guns to protect against guns when death by vehicle is so much at a higher chance.

It's because people can bring emotion into it (The various school shootings for example (Ironically, they could have been prevented by armed people)) enough that they can slew the facts (I.E. Less guns means less gun related deaths, but not less crime or deaths in general) so that people do not know the facts (I.E. Less guns means more crime).

ANY jury in their right mind will convict you of murder as soon as you say "i shot to kill" you dont shoot to kill, you shoot to STOP the attack, if you need 2 .40 s&w hallowpoints to the chest and one to the head to stop the attack then so be it, but you NEVER "shoot to kill" and you NEVER shoot in the back.

@ondfritz2 ok, well, that is what you implied... and myself being a RESBONSIBLE gun owner and CC'er/OC'er know that this is not the way to go about it. Any RESPONSIBLE (key word is responsible) gun owner has no desire to take anothers life, we only do what we have to to preserve our own and sometimes death is a by-product. I'm not aware of any GOOD shoots that end in an injured criminal sueing the defender... they sue in BAD shoots, if it's a good shoot, they have nothing to sue over.

If BG kicks in my front door wielding a knife, he is GOING to get shot.... period. I will aim center of mass, and he will recieve .40s&w gold dots untill he hits the ground. He will most likely die, and i will not feel bad. i will feel like i saved my life, my sons life, and my wifes life. i couldnt care less if BG dies.

@ondfritz2 Sorry, but, whoever you got your training from needs to have their instuctors permit pulled. ask a REAL profesional CCW instructor if you should shoot to kill or shoot to stop. As for my state laws, i can recite many, MANY laws but i ran out of room in my last post. I cant recite as many as you im sure, because i live in a state that is gun friendly (we have less gun laws than CO) Can you OC about anywhere you want in CO? How about conceal without a permit? Carry in bars? etc etc

The point of shooting in self defense is NOT to wound a person nor is it to kill a person, it is to STOP THE FUCKING THREAT! one good shot to the heart/chest area will most likely stop the threat immediately, which is the point of shooting in self defense, also, one good shot will most likely kill the BG, but that is a by product of stoping the threat... am i wrong?

Its amazing how this resurfaces every few months, but most CCW holders will tell you that we are trained for center mass, stop the assailant, a scenario like ole Bill goes through would have the lawyers beating down the doors to represent the thug...and they would win. You should never ever shoot to Kill, only to stop the assault...and center mass with a .45ACP is the best way to do that.

Other than that I agree, when Kirk fired the 1st shot the bad guy probably would have been able to fire back.
