  • hey alliax, may I know whether the harmonica that you are using is it a 16-hole chromatic or a 12-hole chromatic? (: thanks.

  • Hello, it's a 14 holes.

  • wow great

maybe next time do a little more improvisation on these kinds of songs?

  • Hello, unfortunately I can't yet improvise, I'd need to work on that and it's been several months without playing.

  • super gespielt. 5***** und kein Stern weniger.

  • Awesome.

    Completely awesome!

  • Great !!!

  • relly great! congratulations! im want start to play the Harmonic cromatic! can you give me some advice?? thanks!

  • Hello, I don't really have any advice, just take a good harmonica and a method + cd to start. Then it's time and practise.

  • very very nice....

  • Wow! You're good!

    Nice hat by the way.:)

Bravo!

  • I really must know how to play this.

  • sein bild siht auch genau aus wie er selber xD

  • very enjoyable!!

  • sexy costume

  • BEAUTIFUL version of this classic.

"but each day when she walks to the sea..."

  • very nice

  • Wow!! Great!

  • really nicee :]

  • cara, sou brasileiro e gostei muito parabéns

  • Following my reply as I said I play Hering Chromatic harmonicas that also come in different keys which make life easier for professional recording Chromatic harmonica players when playing difficult keys. I have a C and a G ones because I also play the panflute which is in G. I always detested Honher chromatic harmonicas because the low A note is difficult to play with them but I'm impressed by your 14 holes chrometta that I tried once and hasn't got this problem and I shall now buy one.

  • Excellently played. It sounds really nice in this key. Which key is it?

  • Hello, sorry I don't know in which key it is.

  • Thanks! It's either in G major or in its relative E minor. I've played it along you with my chromatic harmonica in G. As a rule the last note of a song tells you the key but this one strangely ends with a different note that is why I'm confused. You can play it easily with your C harmonica without using the slide by starting with the D note followed by B in which case it's either in C majop or in its relative A minor. I normally use Hering chromatic harmonicas that come in different keys.

  • many songs end on the root but it is most definitely not "a rule"

most jazz/latin songs rarely end on the root. usually the seventh, ninth, 11th, or even 13th'

  • Good song by the harmonica ! I love this version !

-scuse for my english, im belgian ...

  • Hye,

I have a question, very simple question to you. Can you tell me if a tab of this song exist on the earth because i can't fint it. Thank's For your answer.

P.S. I Love, really Love you when you playing this beautiful song.

  • Hi, I really don't know, I play it from a music score that I have on a book.

  • this is my first time seeing someone that plays harmonica this good

  • Multo fuerte! Tu sta en gamba! Excellent control, pitch tone phrasing!Nice vibrato y stacato. Bravo maestro What type of Harmonica is that? Looks like a Hor

  • Hello, this is a chromatic harmonica. Hohner Chrometta 14 in C.

  • ..and God gave him a harmonica and said "Let him play"..and..it was good...in fact..it was great!!! You'd give the harmonica player from "Blues Traveler" a run for his money. Please post more cover tunes and please...play...just...play...

  • Wow... Great job there buddy! Check out my page, I have a lot of "bossa nova/samba" songs on there that you might like. Thanks for the great post!

  • They are very nice indeed, thanks.

  • Great job man thats a beautiful tone!!!

  • Great stuff buddy....

  • Excellent!

  • Very nice, Don't be afraid to break out of the melody box and let go. The more recognizable melody the more you can have your way with it. Remember, "Girl" was the most covered song in the world until Lennon and McCartney's "Yesterday" trumped it.

  • HEY MAN!!! Very good performance... Girl from Ipanema is, without a doubt, the best theme ever written by Antonio Carlos Jobim... Harmonica gives a very sweet and melancolic tone that makes skin bristle.

    Congratulations!!!

  • OMG THAT WAS THE AWESOMEST music that I have EVER heard on youtube!!!

    GREADT PLAYING!!!

    I absolutely loved it!!!

It was so smooth and light!!!

    I wish I could play a harmonica.

  • fabuloso!

  • Hey! This was amazing! I am literally from Ipanema, in Rio, and this song represent the beach exactly the way it plays, light, harmonic and with a very special swing, the only one that Tm Jobim can do. He would be greatly proud of you if he was still alive, for sure! You played it so beautifully! Thank you for making me almost cry listening to you and for bringing me home for some minutes. Have you ever been in Rio, BTW?

    U rock! :)

  • Il y a rien a ton epreuve. Tout ce que tu joues est magnifique.

  • his dam gud^^ BRAVO BRAVO!!!! kudos to u stranger..

  • DUDE.. damnn... u r good!!!

  • Hello that was really really good , great job of playing this timeless classic.

I would like to ask you please what brand is the harmonica you are using , how many holes?.

    Davey G New zEALAND .

  • Hi, brand is Hohner, from Germany. The model is Chrometta 14 in C, it has 14 holes.

  • Thank you for your reply , I look forward to hearing more of your playing :-) cool man .

    Davey G. New Zealand.

  • muy pero muy... bueno man.... q armonica es?..la verdad un sonido muy hermoso... y la melodia esta perfecta...

  • damn dude that was sick!!!

  • Hooly shit, this is awesome. One of my favorite songs..you're very talented.

  • I am HIGHLY Impressed!

  • marvelous rendition of a beautiful song

  • great job! I loved it!

  • I love this

  • i never could get the hang of the chroma.

fantastic job on a great and favorite tune.

i grew up listening to stan getz and i like your version.

    thanks,

    buzz

  • Takes a bit of adjustment as the song is not harmonica-like (?) but you do it so well. Thanks.

  • thats nice... jazzy harmonica

  • I'm from south of Brazil. This is a brazilian music from Rio de Janeiro (southeast). The original is GAROTA DE IPANEMA. And i never heard in harmonica. Thanks for post and congratulations !! Good job !!!

  • Im impressed. but what i am more impressed with is that someone young like yourself likes this music. This music has a melody to it. So many young kids now go for the beat and not the actual melody. Keep it goin on.

  • very cool.........

  • very good keep it up and fuck them all if they dont like it

  • I'm glad you loved it.

  • isn't it possible to bend notes on a chromatic? and if it's so, why don't you? you're great! i'm a bluesman and i'm beggining to think about a chromatic just because of listnin you

  • hi, yes you can bend notes on a chromatic, a little, but is it worth the effort to reach another note when you can easily another way? well maybe in some case, but to be honest there's a whole range of things regarding harmonica i should learn and train.

  • respect!!very nice

  • wow, how did you do that? i just got two antique harmonicas from my great aunt...im trying to figure out how to play them but i can't find all the notes.

  • Hello, read my profile text I give 2 web resources on the chromatic harmonica, you can find a schema with the notes.

  • very nice tone and i've always loved this tune.

  • One of my old-time favorites. Excellent harmonica performance. I added to my "FAVORITES" list. Indeed Maestro Jobim would approve. Also sharing video with a friend (a band member) who is also an excellent harmonica player to add on our music list. Thank you for sharing your music!

  • that IS that part getz plays. o casa de amore!

  • man you can play (thanks for sharing)

  • perfect O_O

ha, harmonica fits the girl from ipanema perfectly xD

  • Oh dear GOD,this is so beautiful,so nice.Bossa Nova has the power to make me feel good everytime i hear it.Congratulations buddy, you play very well

  • This is quite brilliant... Your timing reminds me of the way Stan G plays certain sections of his solo on the most known recording of this.

  • Sounds very nice! indeed, appears that you are reading notation, which would explain the almost perfect timing. Geat Job!

  • i like it '

  • Fanstic good play, thanks for sharing it on youtube!

  • muy buena Felicidades....

  • another nice one well played alliax.....

  • Good job. Just starting out here. Are you using the pucker/whistle technique or are you using toungue blocking?

  • pucker

  • hmmm.. pitch of your harmonica doesn't seem to perfectly match the backing. could use a little more articulation on the "tall and tan and lovely" part, make it sound less flat/square.

  • I've only just been on youtube for a couple of weeks but I would just like to say that it's your video clips that I watch most often - you simply rock! I too play the harmonica but only on an amateur basis. What I'd like to know is where did you get your backing tracks/music accompaniment from - can this be purchased or downloaded from somewhere or did you do it yourself or had someone do it for you?

  • Hello, I found them on the internet. I search on google for jazz midi files, you'll find a lot. Alternatively search for the software called "band in a box" and also for free music files for it "realbook". You will also find 2 yahoo groups dedicated to band in a box with files to download.

  • Thanks for that tip. Would like to ask a special request for next time you another video - how about "Moonlight Serenade" or "In the Mood" by

Glenn Miller? Also can you do the theme from "An

    American In Paris"?

  • I love this, is it possible to play it on a diatonic harmonica?

  • Hello, maybe it is. But I don't know how to. You should ask youtube user RonnieShellist about that, he's a master of diatonic.

  • Now I know why I like harmonica!

  • Parabens!!! how beautiful!

  • good work ...keep it up!

  • Marry me!!!

  • I love harmonicas nice job

  • youre very good!

  • Good Job! I play jazz with chromatic harmonica too.

  • i play that on trumpet

  • Great song done very well!

  • que buena vercion felicidades good

  • Cool man.. I'm from Brazil, the same country of Antonio Carlos Jobim.. And I think you played "The Girl From Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema" in portuguese) as an authentic brazilian "bossa nova" player.. Good job!

  • Thank you, I like this song, of course.

  • nice job Alliax !

  • Thanks!

  • i tried to teach myself harmonica once and didnt get that far... what does the button do?

  • when pressed, the note played is half a tone higher. If you play a C without pressing it, then pressing it makes a C#

  • I see you have changed your head dress.... Very nice, great improvement!

  • I change often :-)

  • Nice i wish they have a mp3version of this

  • Hi, mp3 can be done. You can do it too, the free tools are out there..

  • great play style!

  • Thanks!

  • we have hohner 280 c 16 holes..

  • i am from brazil, and you that song with a brazilian soul. congratulations! i play harmonica too, which harmonic are u playng?

  • Thank you, i play a hohner chrometta 14 holes in C
