  • Premaritals aside. Im glad u make these vids!

  • There now I've seen all of the videos :P Ps : 13 likes D:>

  • I don’t think there is anything mentioned in the Bible about people smoking anything, but I agree with your teaching here. Also, I’m sure you would afford me my liberty to smoke pot or would you tell me it’s ok with you, but I should wait until my government says it’s legal to do so? Godspeed

  • @MerozCurse My own personal thermostat in such matters, once I have ascertained that there is no biblical taboo or prohibition against something, usually follows common sense and some questions I ask myself: 1) are the health risks high when the thing under question is moderately enjoyed? 2) what are the intentions of the seller or maker of the thing (for instance, cigarette companies load their fags with a potent content of nicotine in order to increase the likelihood of addiction..

  • @PipePastor continuing...3) I would attempt to discern the context in which I would be enjoying the thing, and whether my influence with the thing would cause someone weaker in will or maturity to stumble in their faith journey or influence them to engage in it to their own harm, etc... I am still processing my views on MJ... I try to be a good steward of what the Lord has seen fit to give me. What I drink or smoke is not my problem, food is and I am committed to be victorious in '12

  • @PipePastor Your point is well taken. Keep it up and you’ll be forcing me to subscribe to this channel. smile

  • Thank you, Pastor!

    Keep On, Keeping On!

  • Thanks for these videos! You are one of the few people who speak the truth on this subject. God bless

  • great videos guys, ive found pipe smoking to be a great form of fellowship witch always results in deep theological talks and discussion of the gospel.

  • @popcicleNinja So true. I think one of the reasons for this is that men are built for shoulder to shoulder rather than face to face relationship and communication. It also helps us kinetically, when we are doing something like fishing, staring into a fire, or smoking pipes, to allow what we are thinking on the right side of our brains to make it over to the left side.

  • Thanks for the messages brother. I do have some questions, about different denominations. I'm not too sure what denomination you are, but I'm a Southern Baptist, and a recent sermon at my church was on 1 Timothy 3:2-3. Where a bishop may not be taken to any alcohol, and then to verse 8, where a deacon may not be given to MUCH wine. I'm not nit-picking denominations, but I just want to know where you stand on those verses. Thanks again, I really enjoyed sitting here and listening to you

  • @MrACagle Im not the Pipe Pastor, but as I understand my Bible, there´s no generell prohibition for Churchleaders, but a I understand it would be not ok, if he would have an alcoholic problem. The rest ist denominational interpretation.

    Blessings,

    Michael

  • @MrACagle 1 Timothy 3:2-3 does not forbid an elder to drink alcoholic beverages such as wine or beer, but forbids drunkenness ("sober or temperate" "not given to much wine; drunkenness"). If it were true what the person who preached the sermon said, Paul and Timothy are both guilty; Paul for encouraging Timothy to drink wine; Timothy for doing so assuming he did what the apostle told him to do. You heard a sermon that superimposed over the scriptures the denominational bias against...

  • Well done! I agree 100%!

  • Great quote from Luther, "Accordingly if the devil should say, ‘Do not drink,’ you should reply to him, ‘On this very account, because you forbid it, I shall drink, and what is more, I shall drink a generous amount. Thus one must always do the opposite of that which Satan prohibits. What do you think is my reason for drinking wine undiluted, talking freely, and eating more often, if it is not to torment and vex the devil who made up his mind to torment and vex me."

  • If I remember correctly (their homepage might tell) one of the owners of the Samuel Gawith tobacco company was Christian and Minister for a church.

  • @Enniefahrer As was Mr. Guinness, Mr. Jameson, and Mr. Peterson (pipes).

  • Hello Brother,

Luther at his time had no other chance to drink beer. Water at his time often was contermined so beer was the healthier alternative. Even Childeren drunk beer in Germany at this time. But beer had estimates half % like today (about 2.5% compared to 5% today). Coffee and tea were not aviable als the time of Luther. His "luxury drink" might have been wine, and it is known that he drunk wine.

    Blessings

    Michael

  • @Enniefahrer Both points are not viable brother. On the latter point Luther's beer was, if anything, very strong due to its hoppiness. Luther himself preferred stronger beers, saying "We old folks have to find our cushions and pillows in our tankards. Strong beer is the milk of the old." As far as the drinkability of water, although the purity aspect can be ceded, it is a mere presumption to say it was not drinkable. Water in Germany is ok, yet they still use nonalco beer culturally

  • @Enniefahrer Both points are untenable. Luther's beer was known to be very strong due to the length of fermentation and hoppiness. Luther preferred stronger beers, saying "We old folks have to find our cushions and pillows in our tankards. Strong beer is the milk of the old." People drank as much water then as now. Alcohol was not substituted for water but was a cultural addition.
