I love the Tokai topwoods/maple cap, they have great character. I prefer plain tops to flames.

This guitar is the equivalent of a Gibson Les Paul "Historic". It has the deep long neck tenon, like the Historics. Incredible guitar.

tokais are great i have a made in japan hondo II from 1979 that was believe it or not made by tokai i know this because of the tokai serial number on the neck plate best guitar ive ever owned

wow you have no idea what you are talking about, the reason why Tokai have better ratings than Gibson on many sites is because they are much more detailed, you can find vintage wirings more easily than on Gibsons.

not all Tokais are better than Gibsons, and not all Gibsons are better than Tokais. but so far, to be honest, most of the Tokais ive played were equal if not better.

then u obviously have never played a tokai, they play like gibsons and some are even better. i own an ls 135 myself and i use an orange tiny terror through a 2x12 speaker with a ocd boost pedal and i find it plays remarkably well, good for tones such as guns and roses, acdc and aerosmith.

No way. You may find some nicer Gibsons, but the majority of MIJ Tokais are better. Gibson doesn't let them sell their guitars "officially" out of Asia because they know they're as good or better and also cheaper.

I've owned several Gibson Les Paul's. Kept one. I would rather have a Tokai Les Paul. They paid attention to the detail. Gibson's are simply overpriced, and the quality is just not there anymore. What year is that Tokai?

Is there a big difference between Japanese and Korean Tokais? I have heard that Japanese ones are better made than Koreans?? (different parts breaking and stuff.)

YES, i think there is a big difference.

Tokai premium serie are high end guitars, and really as good as great Gibson.

@tatsa I have Tokai love rock and I also had other not japanese guitars the quality is in the craftmanship alone, the japanese really live for their work and they tend to do everything perfect ,it's so perfect you often can't find "any" error where you can see something looks sloppy made. but if you look at Gibson you can :D and the chinese and korean those are not even in the same legue, I guarantie you wil se sloppy things like they where made in a hurry, you never se that on japanese guitars.
