hi john, i'd been looking such vid for some time, seen many and found your tech to be the easy and simple. like it. 1 question, how long ropes or strings should be to make a 10 feet x 8 feet net? please help. thank you.
it can be made smaller by bplacing the vertical strands closer together.. However for a golf net there are better techniques.. like using a net needle will make for a tighter weave.
This is so... simple. I've been trying to find a way to make a net for my hermit crab's tank so they have more things to climb on (I know, not what these nets are really for) and this video actually makes sense. I think I'll give it a try.
That first knot - the "modified prussik" is actually a larkshead knot. Also I'd try using some other knot for the rest, an overhand knot like you're using is ok as an expedient but sheet bends or even carrick bends are more usual and will give the net greater stability. However as I say as an expedient "survival" type technique I'm sure this would be perfectly adequate.
Thanks guys... I agree I think this is more of a longterm wildernes living or even hobby skill than it is a survival technique due to time, and the amoutn of cordage needed..Thanks for commenting.
Fascinating technique. It seems very time consuming, and in a survival situation, I don't know whether food would be enough of a priority for me to spend the calories making this net. But it might make a nice craft hobby, regardless. Thanks for sharing the technique.
hi john, thank you very much for your reply. time is something i'm always short of hence your method is the one for me. thanks again.

@MrKal911 Thanks,
this is a simple technique for a quicky type net, for anything that will stand the test of time, there are better but more time consuming methods.
I'm going to say 15 ft for length by 13 for width.. as a rough estimate..
Thanks again for watching.

What is a good size weight to use for these nets? Typical is from around 8 to 30lbs for fishing
