Was it necessary to drill any new holes to mount the Bigsby?I used to play an ES-150 DC back in 1969 and as with the 175 the neck is really narrow in the first position. This is fine for jazz chord and solo work but it definitely does not lend to the twangy country or blues string bends I do so much now.
But that still didn't stop me from loving the 175 I tried in the store. The sound and playability was just great, and the way yours is set up is beautiful.
I use a lot of picking dynamics and i need the amp to respond. U can check the uploaded vids in my profile to see what kind of sound im after. I dont need a lot of gain ...just the amp breaking up a bit.
@300guitars Yeah man, your sound is beautiful. There are plenty of copy katz playing the circuit with that choked up/no treble/smoky jazz club tone. You have a recognizable ear candy style that's you, and that is what's really important.
@DOHC1100 Yes...sounds nice as lower volumes. I was not playing too loud in this video. The amp has a good feel as well. Let me know if you have more questions.... -Billy
@Koreanflow This amp is definitely fat and big sounding. Definitely hard to capture on a camera. In person it is a lot bigger sounding.....thick, clear, punchy and loud. -Billy
I want to learn jazz too!!!! I find that jazz does not come that natural to me. I keep working at it and listening as well. Have fun rocking your Lunchbox!!!! -Billy
Thanks for the kind words & watching!!! My Gretsch Hot Rod sounds great through it!!! I shot a clip but I played kinda crappy..... ;>( When I get back from NAMM I will shoot another with my Gretsch! -Billy
Thank you very much! I really want to work on my jazz but my time is very limited these days but I sneak in a little shedding here and there. Thanks again, Billy
Wow. That sounds like a great amp for my R&B and jazzy blues stuff. And so portable!
I play on archtop equipped with Gibson P-90's. I wonder how the ZT Club sounds
with P-90's! Can you make a vid of that too?

@HOUNDDAWG Yes. I had to drill 3 small holes near the strap button to mount the Bigsby. No other holes however. -Billy

how is the overdrive on this amp?
bebenavole 1 year ago
@bebenavole The overdrive is nice...not very gainy. More like a bluesy overdrive with dynamics. -Billy

Seems like too much top end dialed in for jazz

@HardRockLeadGuitar I like my jazz sound to have definition like Grant Green. With this rig you can totally get it to be darker. -Billy

I'm still not quite sold...it sounds a bit bright for my taste. I'm guessing the video can't really capture what's really going on...

I shall recommend Ken put an "automatic Jazz" button in his next amp.
