I own the Australian model of the Altima we call it a bluebird :D It has the KA and it fucking flys stock....put a few mods into it you get to 180 easy you put a turbo in it your set haha I'll try and get a video up for you lot =D Never insult Inline 4s... we got a 2.2L camry as well and we got it up to 250km/h when we got out we were laughing our asses off because we never thought we could push a camry that far hahaha

bayles20, u really have a 12sec 91 maxima? id like to see how my altima would stand up next to it. its an 01' and it has a stage2 ecu, short-ram intake, cat-back exhaust, light wheel flywheel, 1800lb hight pressure clutch, short linkage transmission, and its lightened about 400lbs. 0-60 5.7sec and 12.78@107 in the quarter. it has roughly 205hp and 215lb/tq.

a 97 altima (5 spd) will beat a 4th gen maxima (auto) every time. I've owned both. But this looked like an 02-03 maxima, so 245-255 hp in the max, altima wont touch it

I had an 94 Altima GXE. When I would hit the gas, it would sit down then take off.

I had a 06 Altima 2.5 S. This thing had no pep at all. And when I would try to run it faster it would drink all the gas.

I now have an 05 Maxima SE. This car is fast as -ell, smart and scary.

dunno... my sis went from a 97 Altima to an '08 Altima 2.5, and the new one is hella faster than the old one. As a matter-of-fact, it's faster than my buddy's Mazda6 V6... Which isn't saying much, really, but still...

I'll admit that out of the three, the 06 Altima had the smoother ride. But she still had not get up and go. My 05 Maxima passes every thing on the Interstate. Nothing goes by me unless I want it to. And she gets surprisingly good gas mileage for a V6. My only complaint about it is that it shakes a little at 80mph . A good front-end alignment should remedy that.

mdydy, it's not because you shift it once that your car is faster, you just raced against a fucking poor drive, the do the 0-60 in about 6.5 with auto and 5.9 with the stick. and your car does it new in 7.5sec so 18 years old should 8sec.

I'm guessing the maxima passed the camera going about 86-90 I heard it shift 3 times. 3rd gear shifts at 80 so I think I'm probably right. 15mph top speed? I've gotten my stock 4th gen to 138 before I had to slow down thanks.

@NoTrickFilms what about the top speed limiter. and in case you still have it activated message me for a link with step by step instructions on how to get rid of it. mine will friggin scream way past 140 ive had it over 150 and it was still pulling im guessing it would do more but i dont want push the drive line. and gears. if anyone wants to know how to remove the limiter let me know. NOTE: doing this will a light or code or 2 but causes no real or mechanical or safety problems.

Yeah the newer Altimas do make more power than the Maximas do now. Nissan is clearly going a softer direction with the Maxima :( I haven't driven a new Max with the CVT tranny yet, supposedly it makes up for the horsepower correction.

We got a 07 Altima 3.5SE wit the CVT and it really cool..but the 09 Maxima that coming out this summer or mabey a lil later is gonna have 290..so im gonna have to test drive it and run it aginst our Altima..lol the Max should win but the Altima is a damn good car for the buck lol

my 1990 Maxima 3.0 SE beat a 07 Altima 3.5 SE from 0-100 but after 100 mph the 07 altima starts to pass me. pretty good for a 18 year old car :) and it woops 05 mustangs not gt's but still pretty fast.

yeah that's a first gen Altima, KA24DE is only rated like 140hp stock. A really "built" KA24 you might squeeze close to 200hp out of. I had both a 1st gen Altima (94) and got a 04 Maxima 3.5 SE now. No comparison! (I always thought it would be fun to built that Alty into a sleeper car and mess with those damned Civics and Integras lol)
