  • Esta es una de las mas romanticas, nostalgicas y melancolicas canciones de la historia.

A nosotros los que amamos el mar nos toca fibras del alma y nos hace sollozar por la esperanza.

This is one of the most romantic, nostalgic and melancholic songs of history. It caresses the souls of us, sea -lovers, and makes us weep longing for hope...

  • I have had this movie since I was 3 and now 18 years later I still have it and watch it.

  • If anything reminds me of my childhood... it's this song, i remember that i cried when i heard it.. not that i understood a single word of it, but the melody touched me so incredibly

Beautiful song and movie, kinda upsets me that they felt the need of making a new one with Jack Black.. why bother?

  • You can also watch the whole video on Hulu. It always tears me up something terrible.

  • "Sailor Man" is such a sweet, melancholy song. Compare the first stanza sung by Gulliver as he is called back to the sea to the second stanza where the Liliputians inviting him to come back again from the sea.

  • @bb4388aol I absolutely don't get his song

  • beatiful song

  • I have always loved this movie and was so stoked to find it at Walmart for a buck! Lovely songs, especially this one. Now I remember why I had a crush on Gulliver way back when lol.

  • Absolutely beautiful!!!!

  • I just wish the flieshers had mad a sequel or two where gulliver goes to the other islands in the book, like brobdingnag, laputa, or the land with the houyhnhnms...

  • If you listen to the music, It is the love theme of Han Solo and Princess Leia. John Williams stole this music for Star Wars. I guess Han was George Lucas' Sailor Man.

I guess that proves JW and GL are Pirates.

  • @pocketspy

Well, and Lucas &Spielberg stole from Carl Barks that scene where a big stone rolling down behind Uncle Scrooge... Williams also drunk in Bernard Hermman's music (Psicose) to create the soundtrack for Jaws....

  • timeless movie, timeless music, makes the princess and the frog looks like a joke

  • After listening to this song for a whole day, over 20 times, here is the "Movie version" of this 1:30 minute song. Title: I hear a dream (Sailor Man) Chorus: Come home again, (come home) Where "you" should be Come home again (come home) You Sailor man, sailor man Home again to the sea.... Gulliver and chorus I hear a dream all day (all day) The dream that calls to me (Come home) Come home again you Sailor man, sailor man Home again to the sea....
  • Great song! It is about Gulliver's longing to return to the sea!

  • Great, wish it was longer.

  • Damn! I heard this song when I was little and it still gets me now and I am 25 years old. I love this song, thank you for uploading it.

  • I was moved even more when they all sang this song at the end when Gulliver left Lilliput and sailed home-especially since Gabby and Snitch were crying as well to see their friend leaving.

  • Zaphiell - the "waves" (womens chorus) from 0:06 - 0:47 are singing:

Come home again, come home, Wherever you may be. Come home again you sailor man, sailor man, home again to the sea.

Don't feel bad, English is my first language and I had to listen to this 10 times before I understood the words (-:

I hope this will help you to enjoy this song!

    Regards

  • Thank You I love You :D:D:D

  • I need someone to do me a great favour !!! I do't know english too much and i can;t hear what the waves singing about! Please somebody help! if someone could write the lyrics i wolud be wery greatful!!!

  • *male version

  • any body has any idea as to who is the guy singing this version...i have heard the vera lynn one but am trying to locate the make version..thanks

  • His name was Sam Parker and he was a Miami, Florida-based radio announcer who won the part - ironically enough - by way of a radio contest. He was 29 years old at the time the movie was made. His only other voice-over work was in some Superman cartoons. As he would be nearly 100 years of age now, chances are he is no longer living. I have not as yet been able to find out a date of death, though. Parker had a fine baritone voice and it's ashame he was never given a recording contract.

  • i cant even describe the feelings I have when i listen to this song......... wonderful!!!!

  • One of the best songs in an animated film ever. It's so beautiful to hear this song again.

  • The most beautiful part of the movie to my way of thinking. The Fleischer way of rotoscoping is so beautiful that it makes it's characters so realistic and third-dimentional. I love it. You never see animation like this anymore these days. It's a shame.

And Gulliver's voice actor has a beautiful voice. (He provided Superman's voice for a few episodes as I've read)

  • Having listened to ' It's a hap hap happy day on TV adverts recently, I pulled out my 78rpm record of Gullivers Travels with some of the singing by Vera Lynn, including 'Faihful Forever' and 'Sailor Man'. Marvellous. Must have been recorded in 1939, presumably. Nice to see these clips from the film - I didn't realise, until today, that these songs came from a film!!
