@abridgeduploader All of the examples people are throwing up now seem to come from early to mid 2000s. I started watching anime in the mid to late 90s and there was almost never an instance where the dubbed version was as good as if not better than the subtitled version. North American studios were still using actors who tended to turn everything into a caricature. I was very apprehensive when I checked out dubbed Hellsing because I loved the original...and was pleasantly surprised.

Oh no, I agree on everything before 2000, at least. The anime then had absolutely no attention given to them, and the actors used were 3rd rate (Not even good enough to be called second rate). I think the first instance of a good dub I've seen is Yu Yu Hakusho (I can't watch it in subs just because of how much I love the English cast). The background and one episode characters got crap, but the main cast/main supporting characters/villains had great actors.

Why the fuck to alucard and anderson hate eachother so much ... besides the point that alucard is a vaampire and anderson is a judiest priest
