It's a difficult task for anyone to cover a Roy Orbison song, but I think this is fantastic version in spite of some of criticism on here. This man and his music are profoundly missed. It gave me chills also cantonadenmark RIP Del Shannon
OMG!! What a great verision. Besides Roy, this is the best I've hear from someone we lost two early. Two as a matter of fat--Roy and Del. RIP both of you we miss you. And have anyone noticed what a great drummer is behind him. Great!!
Del, Roy, and Gene (Pitney) were absolutely brilliant. The only other ones I have been considering lately have been a small group and some of them are gone too (Marty Robbins, Jerry Reed...)
@bobbyfozz agree roy del and gene their voices were u nrivaled also throw in jay black justin beiber and the rest of these clowns cant hold a note much 4 octave range
this song is so deep.....Del has done an awesome remake of Roy's fabulous hit...Cryyyyyinggg.........RIP both of you and thank you for this and all of the happiness you brought us all with ur music ..xoxoxo
Roy orbison and Del Shannon are the 2 best singers ever....they could sing the phone book in Russian and would still leave me with a lump in my throat...2 stunning singers
this has me weeping nearly uncontrollably....runaway was the first 45 i ever bought when i was 15...i wore out my copy of the big O;s Crying. There are no words to describe what i felt listening to this.
Best singer ever........He could sing the phonebook book in russian and Í would still get a huge lump in my throat just by listening to sound of his voice.....go listen to his last album " Rock on"....the only cd I have worn out like a vinyl album
colorado rain which was played on the B-side of one of his top ten hit;s sounds outstanding, no doubt............Del is one of a kind.............God Bless Him
seen del about 7-8 times around manchester in the 80s with my mates, always had a good sing along, once seen him at the willows in salford he came to the bar at the end of his act and bought a treble rum,i said to him del me and my mates have seen you loads of times,he shook my hand and asked me my name ,and then said we all must be daft.i loved him and especially him singing crying and the answer to everything
very very few singers have the voice much less the balls to attempt to sing this song that Roy O owned (along with every other song he ever sang) Del pulled it off...This guy was a real talent - powerful singer excellent songwriter and as i understand a great live performer...like i said in a previous post i hope the kids will rediscover this guy the way they did the Real Godfather of Rock and Roll Roy Orbison....
amen to that, brother. Two more talented men, who in my opinion sang from their hearts in the literal sense, you won't find, not then, or much less, now.
That voice is damned amazing. I was extremely unfortunate I had tickets for his last tour in Australia that was cancelled when Del passed. It's so sad to think I missed him one more time. He is a giant.
@cantonadenmark Me too! Del's voice was so strong, I just had to turn the volume down! I've loved this guy for 50 years and am still in awe of his talent.
I agree...this voice is just incredible..His album "Rock on" is just about the only CD I have worn totally out like it was vinyl or something....this guy could sing the phone book in russian and I would still get a lump in my throat listening to it
Heard him perform this live back in the early 80's. So fantastic. You could have heard a pin drop. He kept his eyes closed the entire time and only opened them at the end of the song. I remember he seemed surprised to find an audience there. Greatly missed.
Grande Del....
Saw Del perform this song sometime in the mid 80's. He seemed so down that night, but it didn't stop him from giving a perfect performance. When he sang this, the room got so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. I literally think people stopped breathing. When he sang the last note, the room just burst into applause and everyone was on their feet. It gave me chills....Still does.
Del does Crying so well... RIP DEL AND ROY... YOU ARE BOTH MISSED AND LOVED!!

Honestly and God bless Del but he butchered this song. His timing is off in parts and he simply does have the power and purity Orbison had.
