This summer i might be visiting Portugal and I would certainly want to visit the Gulbenkian museum. My best friend is of Portuguese descent and has to consolidate her parent's estate... possibility that I join her once she has it all done with, probably in June. Will post about it in my blog -
i would nominate/recommend the foundation to grant the prize for yerevan children,s art gallery in 2008, if it,s about innovation and excellence. as far as i know that was or perhaps still is the only children,s art museum all over the world. thanks for the video.
Maybe if someone makes an e-mail abt ur idea we could all sing up and send it is as a suggestion? If it doesn't work -doesn't matter, at least they will kmnow we r interested in promoting our kids...
Gulbenkyan has chosen Portugal for his foundation because of low taxes, he founded it as an Portuguese/Armenian foundation, but after his death his Portuguese lower Dr Perdigao took over it and the relatives of Gulbenkian were not able to prove their rights over foundation so it become purely Portuguese foundation with just a very small Armenian Communities Service.
@CilicianAri,I am sure about economy, he didn't do much for Portuguese economy but THE CULTURE. The Gulbenkian Foundation was actually performing functions of Portuguese ministry of culture during Salazar's Fascist Regime. Sponsoring Art and Since as well. Lot of people including my own boss got education just because of Gulbenkyan Scholarship.
