I found using Caroline Parakeet build the most useful by far. I play with a double 2 set from Tech and Supercomando gear and I roll with tank gear for the the offset peices. Huttball is very easy to win given a bit of coordination with allies, and Tower defense on the civil war has never been easier witht he tanking trinkets as well. its a decent dps build that lets you solo most any player that comes your way. its dot intensive too so as your last move before you die dot targets to stop capping

is its crit vs shield then does an increased shield chance mean they crit you less? if it goes one way it should go the other too...

@Dynemanti based on what Georg Zoeller wrote about the 2-roll system, here is my guess on what the roll table for Crit-vs-Shield looks like for Melee and Ranged attacks that were not Defended.

Scenario 1

Attacker’s Crit Chance: 30%

Defender’s Shield Chance: 30%

So remaining 40% is normal hit (not Crit, not Shielded)

Scenario 2: Shield Chance reduced

Attacker’s Crit Chance: 80%

Defender’s Shield Chance: 30%, but for the roll calculation it’s treated as 20%, as 10% was pushed off

Parakeet PT's can be pretty nasty, I <3 shieldtech, jet charge & grapple makes way of pissing off sorc/sages, if you're in combustible ion charge stance with Parakeet you can do pretty good damage (my build in progress is 25/3/13).

That spec is called Carolina Parakeet because the last captive bird (as far as man knows) of it's species died on February 21, 1918... 21FEB18 ... 21/2/18

@GrenadeCatcher absolutely. It's a 30m ranged Elemental DoT and opens up use of High Impact Bolt. It's great for flag capping as well

Nice video and good explanations for choices. I'm not at home to go over my spec, but I believe it most closely resembles 26/13/2 give or take a few points, where you list low dps as a con. To the contrary, I find this spec to generate high dps with the correct gear (i.e. Combat Tech set, replacing the accuracy/aim mods with crit/surge). I generally get 250-300k dps along with 30-50k protection with this spec.

curious do you actually like the talent trees in this game? I find them mind numbingly boring compared to rifts soul system. yes the soul system was a hell of a lot harder to balance but I could sit on the soul builder for days coming up with fun stuff, but here you have so few actual abilities in the trees then to top it half the trees are based around either a stance or ammo type depending on class even further limiting any reason to really go hybrid or come up with many interesting specs...

agreed and its one of the main reason I stuck with rift for about 8 months.. Here you just have so few options so few choices top it off with mirrored classes you are cutting out a ton of variety in builds it just doesn't make sense to me... hopefully a talent tree rebuild is in the works... wow did it i can see this game doing out.

Shieldtech is great for the 3 second Grapple/Harpoon root when you're fighting at Ilum right up against a faction base!

@chazdoit my personal favorite atm is 1/22/18, but I value mobility and kiting mechanics along with good CC.

Yes, 4/6/31 is the highest burst and sustained DPS spec

it seems really costly and i can do my normal rotation like i normally would as normal SS vanguard. incenary round seems like it really limits the use of my other abilities

@Omegadarkdrake Incendiary Round is very expensive - it costs 3 Ammo. To help offset that cost, you want to make sure to use HIB only when the DoT is on your target so that it only costs a net 1 Ammo
