  • @douglasking2 I have a doubt, at 4:05... shouldn't it be "My family IS poor"? Hmmm

So why is it as written in the video?

  • it is correct to use "my family is...." or "my family are..." it depends on the context. (Oxford Dictionary)

  • @piernagorda is written in English, as people from other nations who speak another language learn to speak and write in English. understand sweetie

  • I think this is brilliant - what better way to learn a language but through poetry and word rhymes, excellent work and yes - this is British English rather than it's American English, it's very frustrating when people can't tell the difference, but there is a MASSIVE difference between the two. I believe this is an excellent video, thank you :)

  • ddddd

  • Great, I love making rhymes. Fun video. Thanks.

  • yes i am a teacher

  • I love it, I think it can be very useful in my lessons.

  • EVERYONE! There are two types of proper english pronunciation: British and American. This is youtube, it is a global community, so both forms will be presented. This is British pronunciation. Jeez people, grow some brains!

  • @mrmoe18 One type of proper pronunciation which is English. American, Welsh, Scottish and Irish have their own form. I wish people would stop getting this confused as that is not classed as "Englsh"..

Being English I find it very irritating that Americans class their language as English, it is not!! It is American. We do not say "Y'All" and "Howdee" in English.

    Thanks.

  • @PeterTRFC That's actually kind of racist. I have never seriously used either of those in speaking. That way of speaking is like cockney-ethnic-jumble.

Maybe I don't talk like an Englishmen, but I'd like to think I'm speaking English. I can understand you and you can understand me. Certainly not a totally different language. I think media is given all Americans a rather poor image. Californians don't always say 'like,' Texans don't always say 'ya'll.'

  • @swzher What I said was not racist, but a fact, the language spoken in America is mainly American. In England, the local tongue is English. I have no idea how you can class this as racist. Americans do not understand some of the English language or misinterpret it, this is also not racist, but a solid fact. Please stop with the political correctness with me when you are in fact totally incorrect.

  • @PeterTRFC It's not racist; it's nationalist. You assume that we can draw a line around England, and anything that happens to the language outside of that magic priviliged circle isn't really a development in English. This is an artificially territorial view of how language develops.

  • @PeterTRFC What, no American english is a dialect not a separate language.

I get annoyed when people say stupid things.

  • @PeterTRFC Do you say Evenin' gov'na?

  • it's only me or this video is too much racist?

riches and poors... coconuts and snakes... what a crap!!!

  • How about Geronimo

    Look out below

Here comes the Brother with the offbeat flow

I just fell from the mothership

Outhere Brothers 'bout to rip it on another tip, slip

Malik is in the house I turn your body into fluid

As i come from the depths of Doom

  • yes it does ryme

  • pears? does it really rhyme with stairs? I learned in school (in Germany) it's pronounced like "pierce".

    NATIVE SPEAKERS PLEASE HELP ME

  • No native speaker here, but according to the dictionary it's /pɛərz/. The pronounciacion you learnt would be /pɪərz/

And yes, learning the IPA would be highly recommended ;)

  • I guess I confused it with peas.

    my mistake,l sorry

  • Pears does rhyme with stairs, I have no idea why they told you it's pronounced like 'pierce' :S xox

  • Pears and stairs do rhyme.

Pears is not pronounced "pierce." (:

  • I confused it with peas.

  • @ForeverStarstruck nigga u stupid l0l0l

  • What? Everything I said was accurate.

  • @ForeverStarstruck dude this is british pronunciation. you're thinking of american. there are in fact two types of proper english pronunciation.

  • Yes, it does rhyme with stairs.

  • Pears does rhyme with stairs. Likely someone thought it rhymed with "ears" because of the spelling similarity, but that is not the case. Pears rhymes with bears, and chairs, and stairs! :)

  • @chargonchar yes it does. Never heard pierce, that would have to be a heavy German accent.

  • @radicalaceshasbrin

yes I think I was mistaken.

  • thank you so much for your video

  • A very goo job. Merci. Thanks.

  • Heel erg bedankt, nuttige video voor mijn dochtertje van 8

  • What does "sarong" mean?

  • a sarong is the wrap around material or skirt that many men wear in countries such as Sri Lanka

  • In some countries women wear them too.

  • I've made a few tutorial videos for students of English as a foreign language as well. Just check out my youtube channel.

    efljack

  • thank you for this video it's help me to learn speaking a lot of words...thank you so much

  • Lol: 'come in the morning and stay all day'

  • Who are we teaching here? Foreigners or Todlers?

  • It can be used for teaching English by any age group just depending ontheir level. The poems use a very small vocabulary but includes all the common daily words that are useful. In Sri Lanka I have used these with very young children (though not for reading) and also with an adult class of policeman who wanted basic English. The easy rhymes and pictures make them easy to learn. They have been published in a book. Should you want to buy a book please let me know. The cost is £1 plus postage.

  • @decmck1 todlers lol

  • thank you uploading!

  • very exciting and useful vedio. I love it very much

  • I'm an Auatralian English teacher in Japan.

May I use this posting to help me with my classes?

  • many teachers here is Sri LANKA use the poems (there are 2 books each with 60 poems) for English. There are so many ways they can be used, for vocabulary, talking about the pictures, and with children, using actions and drama. If you do want the books (A5 size) let me know and I will see how much the postage is. I'm not making any profit but just pleased that teachers can use them.
