You testosterone-addled idiots can flame me all you like but I will stick to my opinion that Debbie Davies is no way in the same category of Susan Tedeschi. Tedeschi is just a fairly adequate musician and singer who would be NOTHING and NOBODY had she not married the incredible Derek Trucks. Come on, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Have you ever heard Tedeschi play licks like Davies? NO!!!! It's all about what gives a man a hard-on.
Not that YOU'D know anything about such an occurrence. Pure comedy! Even funnier is this sentence of yours..."I would have even had some respect for your remark..." Great grammatical skills there, Ms Cum-Belly. I bet your phrasing on your 2nd hand guitar is as memorable. Here's the deal. You're a dumb whore. Your comments re the musicians here are totally inept. The simple fact is Debbie's mediocre, like yourself. Go iron shirts.
at the Railhead saloon inside Boulder Station in Vegas I saw her 3xs. The 1st ithought this is how a14yr old felt seeing the Beatles. at one show, I Bought The CD key to love , and she signed it so Ihave her autograph. Her mentor was John Mayall.Guess I'm a groupie.
I've seen the DD Band three times in the last year. See her live if you get the opportunity. The bass player she's had for the last couple years, Casandra Foulconer, is a great addition to the band. No Doubt: When she lays it down, it STAYS DOWN.
I saw her Sunday night. Incredible! If I had to choose an audio track representing 'True Blues Guitar' to be placed in a time capsule, I think this would be the one. Tone and flavorful licks!
Forget everything you may think you know about the Blues.... Debbie's guitar phrasing is the best I have ever heard!!! It don't get any better than DD. (By a drummer- 40 yrs.)
yes indeed her tone is pure and rich, sweet classic and no added preservatives no artificial flavour, natural and pure blues.I love her playing,it also has a some robert cray in there as well.and you here to t-bone asnd albert colins and of course buddy in there too.Debbie Davies you are OUTSTANDING!
I've Been wondering where all the gr8 woman guitarists are but Debbie is one of the best that I've seen. She Must've been good if she backed up de Ice Man aka The Razor Blade aka the Master Of the Telecaster aka one of the gr8test blues guitarists of all time along with Buddy Guy And SRV. She has a very clean sound kinda like Robert Cray.
Whatever, nothin u say can add or detract from what she does, it is what it is. when I first heard her I thought she was just a singer w/ some young blues virtuoso backin' her 'til I heard her play San-ho-zay. Please post San-ho-zay
Hey CUTGLOVE: You write a nasty message to my inbox and never even give me a chance to defend myself. Men can't take it when a female is a better player than they are. The testosterone gets in the way lol. I would hardly call myself a whiney woman-you seem to be whining about my assertiveness and honesty. Ok-come on-bring it on..like I really care:)
@KangalAdamEATSDICK Judging by your vile member name, you have the brains of a mouse. The only reason I am being flamed for my comment is because Susan Tedeschi is married to King Derek (whom by the way, I adore and respect-he kicks ass) and you dickheads have a hard-on for her. Talent? I think not. If she were not married to Mr. Trucks, she would be a NOBODY!!!!!
My wife and I had the pleasure of seeing you perform twice. Yes perform not play. It was really, really enjoyable. Now mind you we have seen everyone that have been on the road in the past fifteen years and you are right there. Johnny Copleland, Tab Benoit, Magic Slim etc. We feel it is not about how fast you play but how it feels.
Johnny Copeland once said to me "Son, if you are'nt ready to give it 110 percent don't even bother.
We feel you give it that kind of attention. Thanks!
Methinks that if anyone is a "silly judger", it's you. There is nothing that silly about it. If you were a female musician (as I am), perhaps you would be more compassionate. I was simply saying that it would have been nice if Eric had thrown in a few talented female lead blues guitarists as well on his first DVD. It was 100% male. Now, is that really so fair? Perhaps my putting the "playing rings around" was inaccurate but the rest is obvious.
Hey Lynnego, maybe the real issue is that you need to quit playing on the computer, and work on your chops. As far as this dude lacking compassion, suck it up. Compassion is for those that deserve it, not whiney women.
SEXISM STRIKES AGAIN!! She can play rings around most of EC's "boys" that played with him at the CrossRoads Festival but she wasn't young or "hot-looking" enough to be asked. Instead he had two token hooker types that played who were a joke. Sadly, the blues genre is still a man's world:(
Is that a fact? "Play rings around most of EC's boys," huh? Care to be more specific?
Would that list include Trucks, Landreth, McLaughlin, Albert Lee, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Beck, or Vince Gill?? Other than Mayer and Doyle B, I'm not sure to whom you are referring. Please, I'd like you to name the players who you feel Debbie would play rings around. With such a strong claim as SEXISM STRIKES AGAIN, you surely must be able to back up your words, correct?
All high quality playing has its own style, IMHO, and it is all relative. However the point that to me was most noteable was that there are hundreds of extremely talented female players out there that need recognition and don't get it. Why were there not any on DVD#1 and only 2 females on DVD#2? Maybe a few people complained after his first DVD came out that there weren't any women on it. So, he found two token chix for window-dressing. I find that offensive.
So essentially what your saying is that your remarking that Debbie could "Play rings around most of EC's boys" at the Crossroads festival" was essentially a silly hyperbole. Further, it's Eric's gig, for a cause of his belief. Who are you to pass these silly judgements when the fact is there are thousands of talented players of both genders who never get their due? If you find it so offensive, why not pick a charity that's relevant to you & organize a concert featuring female players?
really? you have the balls to cry "sexism" yet in the same breath you refer to Susan Tedeschi, one of the most respected female vocalists & wife of none other than Derek Trucks as a "token hooker type?" lol. way to go to bat for your sister musicians! you dumb cunt.
@riffwork77 I never said anything about S. Tedeschi being a hooker type. I wasn't naming names, just making a point. I would have even had some respect for your remark however you FUCKED yourself when you called me a CUNT, PENIS-BOY!!!!!!!
Next point...Why have you not answered the question of goldtops who asked which musicians you were referring to when you said Debbie could "play rings around EC's boys" when you first posted here?? WHICH PLAYERS are those?? Debbie couldn't put a patch on the ass of ANY of the players in this festival. She's no better a soloist than any lead player in any house blues band in any city in America. Oh and news flash for you, Susan was established long B4 marrying Derek, you hag.
Debbie is such an incredible player. I heard her rehearsing for an upcoming tour and I was blown away! If you ever have the opportunity you NEED to see her live!
Yeah, absolutely right! Do you know her CD with Otis Grand and Anson Funderburgh "Grand Union"? Couldn't see HER live so far, but this for sure is one of the very few things I HAVE TO experience before I die!!!
I would love to be on a show with you someday because you played with my Texas homeboy, Albert Collins. You're keeping the blues alive and I love it. Check out my videos
Never heard of this woman before; Good blues voice, and she's a good solid guitarist, plays with loads of feeling, bends 'em good....I'm impressed. I'd go see her, for sure.
Listen to "Grand Union", featuring Debbie Davies, Anson Funderburgh and of course Otis Grand. Those three really are "Guitars on fire"! Can't beat them!

My sicere compliments to Debbie.

she's very good, whatever you all wanna say and please stop the comparison with somebody else.
If I may make a comment - who am I anyway to make one? - I'm not satisified with her singing.
It doesn't grip or come out as an asset to her performance.
I would be honoured to play and sing with such a Lady!
Go on Debbie, keep it out there and don't let go.
You've got it right!
